I am pleased that you have chosen to attend Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU). This is an exciting time for you, entering college, making new friends, choosing a major. Another important decision you have to make is whether to join a Greek letter organizaiton. The challenges and rewards of college life can be enhanced through the fraternity or sorority experience, especially on a commuter campus like NEIU. So what is Greek Life? It’s hard to define something so meaningful. Members of the Greek system are dedicated to scholarship, leadership, community service, and fellowship which all combine to enhance your college experience. Being a member of a fraternity or sorority is a great way to become involved in the campus community. The current Greek system of NEIU consists of 14 Greek chapters and several interests groups. This includes both national and local organizations. Each organization is centered around distinguishable principles and ideals. Look for the one that fits with your ideals and beliefs. Ask members questions about their organizations or the Greek system in general. If you are interested in starting a chapter that is not currently here, please contact the Greek Expansion Coordinator at greekexpansion@gmail.com for assistance. If you have questions that are not answered within this booklet, you may contact me at 773-442-4667 or email v-rodriguez9@neiu.edu You can also check out the Greek Life tab at www.neiu.edu/sld I look forward to assisting you in any way possible! Good luck with your academic career and welcome
