EMERALD CITY KNIGHTS CHAPTER 2: OUT OF THEIR LEAGUE THIRD EDITION MUTANTS & MASTERMINDS EMERALD CITY KNIGHTS INTRODUCTION This is the second in an adventure series for Mutants & of old-school violence as the heroes stop the first set of Masterminds Third Edition. They’re onsite due to a more complicated reason—their secret IDs are tied to MarsTech and they changed into heroic ID after stumbling onto F.O.E., or the heroes went to question Mars after being asked to do so by AEGIS (who don’t want Mars to know that AEGIS is investigating him directly), or a mystic involved with the heroes has warned them of visions where the League finds themselves in trouble after arriving to confront Mars (the trouble is caused by Metropolis’ problems as detailed in the Playring Mars and the Freedom League section). Well, not normally, no. There are extenuating circumstances. And the fact that the least hotheaded of the League is acting peculiar makes things all the more confusing for his teammates. However, you may not like using the good Doctor in this fashion and that’s okay. A couple of other options are available to you. The first is to use Captain Thunder’s son, formerly Bolt and now going under the name Thunderbolt. Or use Megastar. Both have graduated from the Claremont Academy and make excellent candidates for membership in the Freedom League. In Thunderbolt’s case, assume that his father has mentioned a story or two about the Commander and Thunderbolt has a score to settle with his old man’s old enemy. For Megastar, the MEGAS is Preserver technology and the same effect driving Metropolis over the edge also affects the MEGAS, but even harder. Stats aren’t provided for these alternate characters, but Thunderbolt can easily default to the Speedster archetype and Megastar to the Paragon (trading out two power points, one for the Alternate Effect off his Strength for a Ranged Damage attack and the other for the Feature (Guidance from MEGAS). and continues to try to defuse the situation even as the Regardless of tactics, the level of training and skill the Metropolis commands the building to attack him. Since the cards 1 are 11 /2 inches tall, the line’s title will be visible within or in back of the book. When a customer picks the RPG up to page through it, the informational text is uncovered. The card also works as a restocking reminder when the book sells.

Retrieval of the “microfossils” from the asphaltic matrix has yielded a wealth of insect, mollusk, and plant remains, more than doubling the number of species recovered by earlier excavations. Arguing that displacement resonates textually, I interrogate the degree to which artists purposely leave their works in states of flux. Framed through the lens of nomadic, transitional figures (including diasporic cultural orphans, child clairvoyants, and reincarnated ghosts), this project develops the notion of an aesthetics of displacement – that is to say, an aesthetics informed by political urgency. Writers such as Michael Ondaatje, Toni Cade Bambara, and Octavia Butler rearrange customary geographic and chronological placements, unsettle narrative lines, and challenge shared histories of oppression. Propelled into active engagement, readers are encouraged to adopt new roles as migrants and witnesses. The political significance of works that displace radiates externally, as readers are directed toward sites of change well beyond the confines of individual texts. By bringing together seemingly divergent traditions, “The Present Elsewhere” examines the specific historical conditions, cultural backgrounds, and geographic contexts that produce sites of displacement within the Caribbean island, U.

CONSOL ENERGY, CEO, Big Bill Carter (late 40’s), directs the Lead Mine Foreman, Carl Taylor (39), to personally escort the team of inspectors down the companies deepest exploratory mine. A mile below earth’s surface, the mine shaft collapses preventing immediate rescue and forcing the survivors deeper. As the survivors move into a hostile darkness a series of cascading horrors descend upon them.

Published by the Nordic Association for American Studies (NAAS). “He Mought, en Den Again He Moughtent”: The Ambiguous Man in Toni Morrison’s Tar Baby Tuula Kolehmainen University of Helsinki Abstract: In this article, I discuss Toni Morrison’s 1981 novel, Tar Baby, through the lens of a trickster tale on which the novel is loosely based. Tar Baby invites one to choose sides between Jadine, the African American female protagonist with a Eu- ropean education and worldviews, or Son, the bearer of a more traditional African American cultural heritage and values. Son is initially constructed as other, and his representation is based on negative stereotypical notions of the African American male. First impressions need to be revised later, as the text plays with the readers’ sympathies about Son. Even his survival is left open at the end of the novel and the range of options of how to categorize Son would seem to reflect the readers’ percep- tions back on themselves. In this way, Morrison sets up a trap in which any reader making too easy or essentialist definitions of the character will fall. Thus, the most important expression of the trickster tale is the novel’s name: the novel itself is the tar baby. Moreover, the most important construction of tar lies in the ambiguous repre- sentation of Son.
