El Paso Holocaust Museum and Study Center’s 2015 Yom HaShoah: Holocaust Days of Remembrance Commemoration

Seventy years ago, Allied soldiers came face to face with the depth of man’s inhumanity to man as they liberated Nazi concentration camps and killing centers. The small number of survivors left were faced with a loss of family and home. Many chose to leave, to make a home somewhere new, somehwere not haunted by the shadows of the Holocaust. Seventy years later, as anti-Semitism once again increases and the number of living survivors dwindles, the need to remember becomes even more pressing. Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Days of Remembrance, memorializes the millions of victims of the Holocaust and honors the survivors, particularly those who made El Paso their home after the war. This year El Paso Holocaust survivors will speak, along with their children and grandchildren, on the experiences they en- dured, the impact of the Holocaust on generations, and the importance of carrying on the legacy of survival. This commemoration is open to the public. There is no cost to attend.
