A: She decided, when she was ten, to play flute and she was sixteen when she decided to be a band director. Q: Did you always want to be a music teacher? A: Ms. Kudert didn’t always want to be a musician. At first she wanted to be an engineer. Q: Who is your favorite musician? A: Her favorite musician was her grandfather. Q: What is a normal day like for you? A: In a normal day for Ms. Kudert she will get up and come to school. After school she goes to an aerobics and weight lifting class. Q: What were some important days for you and why? A: The day Ms. Kudert received her acceptance letter, the day she graduated from college, the day she got her masters degree, and the day she was offered a job at Central School were all very important days to Ms. Kudert. Q: If you couldn’t be a music teacher what would you be? A: Ms. Kudert would be either a high school science teacher or a fitness teacher. Q: What is your favorite type of music and what instruments do you play? A: Broadway show tunes are Ms. Kudert’s favorite types of music. She plays flute and piccolo. Q: What advice would you give anyone who is thinking of becoming a music teacher? The mini-tennis game called Pickle-Ball was created during 1965 in Bainbridge Island, which is a short ride from Seattle. Pickle-Ball is played in thousands of school P.E. programs, parks and recreation centers, correctional facilities, camps, YMCA's and cooperate fitness centers. The reason that pickle ball got its peculiar name, is that there was a dog named Pickles, who would run away with the the original pickle ball every day. So, that gave the owners the idea to call the sport pickle-ball. The rules of pickle ball are very confusing. On the serve you have to serve under hand and must hit diagonally into the other square. The Pickle-Ball, Inc. game is usually played to 11. In Europe 4700 9th Ave. NW it is most popular. It is mostly a game of Seattle, WA 98107 placement not power. You will need a brush, comb, ponytail, hair net, plenty of bobby pins, a scrunchie, hair clips, gel, and hair spray. First, you will need to brush your hair until there aren’t any more tangles or bumps (it also helps if you spray your hair with water beforehand). You will then have to gather your hair into a tight ponytail. Comb around the ponytail to rid of any bumps or “forks” in your hair. If your hair isn’t long enough to fit into a ponytail, first put it into a ponytail, and then clip up any extra hair that has fallen out of the ponytail with hair clips. After you make a ponytail in your hair, you should twist your hair around the ponytail until it is tight. Next, wrap the hair net around your hair so that it covers all of your hair. Start putting bobby pins around the net, going through the net and the hair*. Once you have put bobby pins around the whole bun, wrap a scrunchie over the net to keep the whole bun together. To finish off the bun, put a lot of gel in your hair, and put hair clips in the places with “loose” hair. Flatten out the top of your head by “going over it with a fine tooth comb” (literally!). Complete the look by spraying your hair with hair spray. You have created a bun. *Be careful! Don’t shove the bobby pins in too tight or you will give yourself or the person that you are putting the bun on a bad headache! 7 Air Mattress Cool Inventions Shoshana G. The Mets made a big mistake by not signing any good pitchers. The Mets do have arguably the best hitting team in the MLB, but pitching wins championships. 2. Los Angeles Dodgers over 3. Philadelphia Phillies The Phillies have a great pitching team and the reigning NL MVP powerhouse, Ryan Howard. Also, the Phils have streakin’ second baseman Chase Utley. But, the Dodgers got some good outfielders in Juan Pierre and Luis Gonzalez. They also have middle infielders JEff Kent and Rafael Furcal. But, the main thing that they are great in is pitching. They have Derek Lowe, Jason Schmidt, Brad Penny and Randy Wolf. In relief, they have Jonathan Broxton, a great prospect, as their setup man. 2. Los Angeles Dodgers over 1. Chicago Cubs 1. Detroit Tigers over 4. New York Yankees The AL Champions from the Motor City did a great job of not stepping in on the big money being thrown around this off season. The only person they signed was Gary Sheffield.

A Summer Wildfire: How the greatest debut in baseball history peaked and dwindled over the course of three months by Colin Thomas Reynolds, M.A. The University of Texas at Austin, 2011 SUPERVISORS: Tracy Dahlby & Bill Minutaglio The narrative itself is an ageless one, a fundamental Shakespearean tragedy in its progression. A young man is deemed invaluable and exalted by the public. The hero is cast into the spotlight and bestowed with insurmountable expectations. But the acclamations and pressures are burdensome and the invented savior fails to fulfill the prospects once imagined by the public. He is cast aside, disregarded as a symbol of failure or one deserving of pity. It’s the quintessential tragedy of a fallen hero. The protagonist of this report is Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg, who enjoyed a phenomenal rookie season before it ended abruptly due to a severe elbow injury.

NATIONAL COLLEGIATE BASEBALL WRITERS NEWSLETTER (Volume 42, No. 4, May 2, 2003) NCBWA President’s Message By NCBWA President Rob Carolla Greetings from the President’s Desk as we present the latest edition of the NCBWA newsletter. We’re once again in the heart of the baseball season, as teams begin to jockey for positions in their conference championships. We’ve had some exciting games in my league this season, and I’m sure the same can be said around the country. One of the first items in this edition is information about voting for the NCBWA All-America Teams. On that topic, please remember to “Get Out The Vote” and submit your selections to Bo Carter for each round during the voting process. No other organization in American does as thorough a job on selecting its postseason honors and I think that is a tribute to the NCBWA and all of its members. A special thanks to Bo for all his hard work! In the last newsletter, I suggested a regular feature clarifying unusual or noteworthy scoring issues that surface during a college baseball game. Included this time is “A Scoring Philosophy”, submitted by the distinguished official scorer of the College World Series in Omaha, Louis J. Spry (see page 8 of this newsletter). Lou has been handling the official duties at the CWS for many years, and his philosophy is a very sound one that should be reviewed by every official scorer. For those of you involved in scoring (or even if you’re not!) please take a moment to look it over – it’s a great guideline.
