The overall area of the plot is 1, 99,934.05 sq. meters of which an area measuring 1,20,949 sq. meters will be brought under construction, and 16,000 sq. meters will be developed as landscape. v) WATER REQUIREMENT: a) During Construction Phase: Total water requirement during construction phase shall be approximately 125 KLD which will be used for domestic use as well as construction for the workers working / dwelling on the site. This water will be made available from MIDC & tankers.

Although it is a construction activity, its impact on air quality, water quality, noise and soil will not be notable. As a matter of fact this activity will have positive impact on socio-economic culture of people residing in the vicinity of the proposed area. There will not be any disturbance to the local ecology as this is the expansion project & selected area for the construction is a undeveloped land.

The project site has plain land. The whole area will be occupied by vegetation. The plantations, which would be grown in the commercial area, will be helpful in increasing green cover of the area. Proposed project will require manpower during construction phase and operational phase thereby creating job opportunities. Local skilled and unskilled laborers will have an opportunity for employment directly or indirectly. There will be additional employment for the poor strata of society by way of domestic helpers, drivers, cleaners etc.

As during the construction and operational phases of the project a workforce which will be needed which will be including both skilled and unskilled people. The introduction of workers from areas outside the region, could introduce a potential effect on the local culture, habits and economics.

1.4. Will there be any significant land disturbance resulting in erosion, subsidence & instability? (Details of soil type, slope analysis, vulnerability to subsidence, seismicity, etc may be given).

A. Details of Soil quality and slope

Generally, soil types found in are black, copper, red and paddy soil. Soil blends of variable proportions are modified by sand, gravel, lime salts and other ingredients. Soil erosion is acute in these soils because of the sloppy nature of lands mostly unprotected by natural vegetation due to over grazing.

Samples were collected within a radius of 10 Km in the study area. Soil samples collected and were analyzed for pH, moisture content, water holding capacity, organic matter, ammonia nitrogen, potassium, phosphorous, - -- Magnesium as Mg, Chlorides as Cl , Sulphates as SO4 using standard methods of Association of Official Agricultural Chemist. Results of analysis are presented in Annexure 13.

Land at the project site is tableland and has no major slopes.

The geology of the Pune consists of Deccan traps with inter-trapped beds. The volcanic lava flows are spread out in the forms Horizontal sheets or beds. Pune is a plateau city situated near the western margin of the deccan plateau. The main system of hills is Sahyadri, which run south in the western portion of o the district. Pune is situated at latitude of 18 31’ N and longitude o 73 51’east.Mean elevation of the site is 560 meters

Geology of the location includes Hard rock, weathered basalt. Moderately fractured rock (Hard Murum), weathered rock.

B. Vulnerability to Seismicity and precautions:

As per the Seismic Zoning Map of (given in Enclosures) Pune region falls under Zone- 3. Stability Certificate, as per prevalent IS Code will be obtained for these buildings from registered Consulting Structural Engineer considering the seismic forces and wind forces etc.

C. Vulnerability to Subsistence Ground level of the plot is plain land. Backfilling in the vicinity of site is included in the project plan in order to increase the ground level of the project. Hence, subsistence is not expected.

1.5. Will the proposal involve alteration of natural drainage systems? (Give details on a contour map showing the natural drainage near the proposed project site)

This water will be made available from tankers & from MIDC. Toilet block consisting of 20 toilets will be provided with Septic tank and soak pit.

The Biodegradable and non-biodegradable solid waste will be sent to Municipal waste bins.

The construction debris will be used to backfilling at the site.

Water Requirement during Operation Phase: Total water requirement during operation phase shall be approximately1046 KLD. It will be available from MIDC, treated sewage & water from RWH. Wastewater generated from this will be treated in Sewage treatment plant will having capacity 600 KLD.

No water logging is expected because no availability of water source in nearby area.

Construction debris and waste during construction will not cause health hazard. Temporary housing will be provided at the site for 400 workers. Solid waste generated during construction is expected to be approx. 40 kg/day. Solid waste generated during construction will be given to municipal waste site.

Construction debris generated will be used for back filling on the site.

All the waste generates will be properly treated and taken care of, therefore will not create any health hazard.

Rain Water Harvesting: In the Operation Phase the daily water requirement of 1046 KLD. Per day would reduce availability of the Municipal water supply system. It is recommended that project proponent should install scientifically designed Rain Water Harvesting System.

Such rainwater harvesting system should have two-fold objective: 1) To utilize rain water available on the plot in direct way or indirect way to reduce the load on water supply system. 2) To minimize the storm water drainage load to avoid water logging locally as well as on larger scale.

Rainwater Harvesting facilities will be created at the project site in the form of aquifer recharge. However, water requirement for the project will not be met from groundwater. Details of facilities created are as follows:

STORM WATER DRAINAGE:  Storm water from roof will be collected in khurras/gutters and then connected to rain water down take through rigid PVC down take pipes.  Down take pipes will run at shaft to the ground floor from there it will be connected to the network of collection chambers and overflow will be connected to nearest storm water drain within the property through hume pipes.  The external storm water drain will be connected to a large water body, which acts as a percolation pond & the overflow if any will be finally connected to storm water drain of MIDC.  Ground landscape drainage will be through Hume pipes to the nearest collection chamber.  Ground level road & open parking area will be drained through storm water drains.

The storm water from the site will be used for recharging the aquifers. Recharge pits will be created on site.

Monoxide, lead and Ammonia. A wide variety of sources contribute SPM in ambient air. Some of them are construction activities, vehicular emissions, industrial process emissions, dust storms etc.

It is generally observed that SPM levels are higher in dry weather i.e. during summer and winter seasons. Dust storms generally do not occur. Hence SPM concentrations are within permissible limit.

It is necessary to monitor the ambient air quality in terms of above said parameters to establish the background air quality scenario and assess the impact of construction on the scenario before undertaking any activity.

Ambient air motoring was carried out of 4 stations within core and buffer zones of the proposed site during December 2007 to February 2008 to representing winter season.

In view of the revision of national Ambient Air Quality Standards by Central Pollution Control Board ambient air quality stations were identified and monitored with high volume sampling apparatus. The sampling locations are project site, Hinjewadi, Punawale & Bhoirwadi.

The plant site was chosen as the station located near the center of the project area and sampling stations were located in buffer zone situated at an angle of 30 degrees with respect to the central station.

At each station, ambient air samples monitored for 24-hour duration were collected at a frequency of every day and analyzed for Suspended Particulate Matter, Sulphur dioxide and Oxides of Nitrogen, Carbon Monoxide, Lead and Ammonia.

5.2. What are the impacts on generation of dust, smoke, odorous fumes or other hazardous gases? Give details in relation to all the meteorological parameters.

During construction phase, Suspended Particulate Matter, dust, will be the main pollutant, which could be generated from site development activities.

Concentration of SO2, NO2 and CO may rise a little due to traffic. Proper upkeep and maintenance of vehicles, sprinkling of water on roads and construction site and providing sufficient vegetation all around the plant site are some of the measures that would reduce the impact during construction phase.

It is generally observed that SPM levels are higher in dry weather i.e. during summer and winter seasons. Pollutant load of the atmosphere is generally low during monsoon as the gaseous pollutants tend to dissolve and particulate pollutants get adsorbed forming aerosols.

Fog formation aggravates the problem as rate of dispersion of pollutants reduces. High wind velocity is helpful for dispersion of pollutants. Higher temperature and pressure in the troposphere is helpful for better dispersion of pollutants. In general, effective dispersion of pollutants in the atmosphere depends primarily on the degree of stability of the atmosphere and on its turbulent structure.

5.3. Will the proposal create shortage of parking space for vehicles? Furnish details of the present level of transport infrastructure and measures proposed for improvement including the traffic management at the entry & exit to the project site.

 Multilevel Car parking will be provided.  There is provision for 1300 four-wheelers & 1500 two wheelers parking.  100 buses for pick up and drop.

Measures proposed for improvement including traffic management at the entry and exit to the project site are:

 Entry and Exit points carefully placed so as not to disturb this flow

 One way traffic inside the complex for comfortable movement of vehicles and reduction in possibility of congestion

 During entry time, PUC checked vehicles would be allowed only.

Area under roads for the total project will be 26,200.32 sqm for 10 & 12 m wide road while road area under 6 mt width will be 9821 sqm. Proposed plan has provision for Bicycle tracks, pedestrian pathways and footpaths.

5.5. Will there be significant increase in traffic noise & vibrations? Give details of the sources and the measures proposed for mitigation of the above.

The proposed activity being an InfoTech park will not cause a notable increase in the noise and vibration during operation. However, use of heavy machinery is inevitable during construction phase of the project. Sources of noise Pollution during construction phase are machinery like Earthmoving Machinery (Excavators), Concrete Pumps, Batching Plant, Hoist Crane, Alfa Crane, Compressors and transportation materials.

Incremental increase in baseline noise levels due to commercial IT complex will not exceed 65 dBA. The post project noise levels at the nearest habitation will be less than the stipulated standards of CPCB.

Noise has various adverse effects on workers and their activities. The first and foremost effect of noise on workers exposed to high noise level over a long period of severe impulsive noise of short duration is ‘Loss of Hearing’. This effect is either temporary or permanent in nature depending upon the length and severity of noise exposure.

Other effects of noise are such as blood pressure, cardiovascular problems and ulcers. Some studies also point to noise related learning difficulties, reduced work efficiency, irritation, fatigue, increased accidents and errors and socially undesirable behavior.

Mitigative measures: The project proponents have agreed to take precautions to control noise pollution as mentioned under: • Use of equipment generating noise of not greater than 90 db (A). • High noise generating construction activities would be carried out only during daytime. Also, adequate parking space will be provided to avoid crowding and noise pollution • Installation, use and maintenance of mufflers on equipment. • Workers working near high noise construction machinery would be supplied with ear muffs/ear plugs.

5.6. What will be the impact of DG sets & other equipment on noise levels & vibration in & ambient air quality around the project site? Provide details.

During Construction Phase: Sources of noise Pollution during construction phase are machinery like Earthmoving Machinery (Excavators), Concrete Pumps, Batching Plant, Hoist Crane, Alfa Crane, Compressors and transportation materials.

These Machineries will be used only during daytime. During Operation Phase: Sources of Noise Pollution is D.G.Sets

The noise would be created due to standby D.G. sets.

During construction 300 workers will be provided temporary shelters at the site. After completion of the project, there will be influx of 10,037 people in the area. The population of the area is likely to increase. (Refer Annexure 15:Census data )

Proposed Expansion project of Wipro Ltd. is coming up at Hinjewadi, which is 4 km from the Pune Bangalore National Highway in Taluka Mulshi of Pune District.

 As during the construction and operational phases of the project a workforce will be needed including both skilled and unskilled people. The introduction of workers from areas outside the region, could introduce a potential effect on the local culture, habits and economics. Those effects have both positive and negative elements and will be managed by the project proponents and developers. The construction phase induces employment opportunities for the local people. About 400 persons will be employed during peak period.

8 BUILDING MATERIALS

Solid waste that would be generated due to excavation will be in the form of rubble and soil. This soil and rubble would be used for leveling of ground and recreational area. Construction debris will be reused for backfilling of roads and other construction.

8.4. Give details of the methods of collection, segregation & disposal of the garbage generated during the operation phases of the project.

Solid waste will be generated in the campus is domestic type having source separated dry and wet components. As far as possible the dry waste like paper, cardboard boxes, thermocol packing, plastics etc. shall be sent to PMC for recycling purpose. However, wet waste, which is biodegradable, shall be converted to bio-compost by adopting following aerobic composting method. The quantity of biodegradable waste generated is about 650 kg per day. The ‘In vessel process’ will be used for composting of solid waste.

Non-biodegradable matters if any is separated for reuse & recycle. 5. Valuable resources are offered to rag pickers. 6. Biodegradable matter undergoes size reduction through a shredder. 7. Specific Vessels are used in the project. 8. One vessel can accommodate about 5 MT shredded waste.

9. Everyday a specially developed Microbial Inoculant is mixed with shredded biodegradable matter at the rate of 1 kg/MT. of biodegradable waste. 10. The bio-degradable matter will remain in the vessel for 10 days(Minimum) The composting system in the Vessel is maintained aerobic using air supplied by compressor. 11. The organic matter in the vessel undergoes rapid decomposition due to the secretion of enzymes by microbes present in microbial inoculant. 12.
