The first seminar was organised on February 8, 2017 at Alumni Centre, CEG. The seminar was inaugurated by the Dean of CEG Prof. Narayanasamy and presided over by President AACEG Er.Vasudevan. The inaugural lecture was delivered by Er. Sundaram Parthasarathy (1976 Mech) to the Mechanical Engineering Students. The audience consisted of 125 students and about 40 persons consisting of Alumni, 1976 batch members and Faculty of CEG. The lecture was well appreciated by the Audience. The next lecture will be delivered by Prof Ganesh Babu, former Director, Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee to the Civil Engineering Students. With inputs from Dr. R.     (Pages- 28) Vol. 49 No. 9 May 2019 Price: Rupees Ten MONTHLY JOURNAL OF THE CITU Formation Rally, Kolkata - 1970 1970 - 2020 Mazdoor Kisan Sangarsh Rally - 2018 From The Archive Foundation Conference of CITU The All India Trade Union Conference was held from 28th to 30th May, as per the decision of a Convention of General Council members and State Committee members of AITUC, held at Goa on 9th and 10th April 1970. It was held at Lenin Nagar (Ranji Stadium) in Kolkata. A reception committee with Com. Jyoti Basu as Chairman and Com. Manoranjan Roy as General Secretary organized the conference. Reception Committee had enrolled 50,000 workers as members of the committee. The review made later noted that the enthusiasm among workers for this conference was such that, when a call was made for collection of Rs.2 lakhs, 3 lakhs was collected within a short period of 3 weeks! The Conference was attended by 4264 delegates representing 1759 unions with a membership of 8,04,637 from 18 states. Fraternal unions sent 116 delegates and 1134 observers attended the conference, making a total of 5514 participants. The Conference was guided by a presidium consisting of Mohammed Ismail, Suhrid Mullick Chaudhury, Haridas Malakar, E. Balanandan, Bimalanada Mukherji, A Balasubramaniam and S.Y. Kolhatkar. P. Ramamurti presented the report, which was earlier circulated in English, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Tamil and Malayalam. There were brief translation of all speeches in all languages for the delegates. The resolution on formation of a new All India Trade Union Centre, to be named Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) was moved in the Conference on 30th May, by Com.Manoranjan Roy (West Bengal) and seconded by E.

    Prime Ministers' Special Scholarship Scheme- 2020-21 Provisional Allotment: Round 2 Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme- 2020-21 Provisional Allotment: Round 2 Department of Higher Education, Education Ministry, Govt. of India is implementing Prime Minister`s Special Scholarship Scheme for UTs of J&K and Ladakh (PMSSS) students from the academic year 2011. AICTE, being the implementing authority, awards scholarships to the candidates offered admission against supernumerary seats through online centralized counseling process under PMSSS. Supernumerary seats are created by University Grant Commission (UGC) in General Colleges and Universities; by AICTE in the approved Engineering Colleges (maximum of 04 seats per course) and 05 supernumerary seats in Pharmacy, Hotel Management; 02 supernumerary seats Architecture Colleges (for Architecture courses subject to clearance of NATA) and Agriculture colleges. 05 seats are created by Indian Nursing Council in each Nursing Institute. Accordingly, AICTE has invited online applications for admission under PMSSS for the AY 2020-21. Following candidates have been provisionally selected for admission based on merit and reservation policy of UTs of J&K and Ladakh. It is hereby informed that the admission of the candidates is provisional and will be confirmed after the fulfilment of the specific eligibility criteria for the course as prescribed by the affiliating University/Institution and will be the responsibility of the concerned candidate. Candidates who have been allotted seats can download their allotment letter just after receiving communication by AICTE. No request for change in allotted course/institute will be entertained. Candidates who have been provisionally allotted the seat in any round of counseling are required to complete the On Line Admission Formalities of respective University/Institute on or before 30th, November, 2020 positively.

A joint forum of several farmers, labourers and Dalit organisations observed a statewide bandh in Karnataka after the state government went ahead and tabled a bill to amend the APMC act.Several Congress andJanata Dal (Secular) (JD-S) workerswere detained by police as they protested against the Act. In Tamil Nadu, DMK and its allies hit the streets in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli and Tirunelveli among other places across the state, protesting the three farm sector legislations, with chief M K Stalin saying his party was ready to challenge the Centre’s contentious move in court. In Uttarakhand, Congress held a protest march led by state unit president Pritam Singh towards the governor house.The State Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand limited (SIDCUL) and labour sanyukt morcha, a labour rights body in US Nagar district, also held a protest rally separately. In Uttar Pradesh, Congress and Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) workers staged protests in Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Ajay Kumar Lallu and other party workers were held by police during the protest, while members of the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party students’ wingwere stopped as they tried to march towards the chief minister's residence.
