Simplified Access to the UK's Payments Systems Takes Another
PRESS RELEASE For immediate release 15 December 2016 Simplified access to the UK’s payments systems takes another step forward with the publication of a new, cross-scheme guide to participation The UK’s interbank Payments System Operators (PSOs) – Bacs Payment Schemes Limited (Bacs), CHAPS, Cheque and Credit Clearing Company, Faster Payments and LINK – have today published a new guide entitled, An Introduction to the UK’s Interbank Payment Schemes. Available on each of the PSOs’ websites, the guide is intended for use by payments service providers (PSPs) that are considering joining, or thinking of extending more payments services to their customers. The document provides an overview of the UK’s payment schemes, what each one offers, and how they can be accessed by PSPs. It has been developed collaboratively by the schemes, capturing input from the Payments Strategy Forum, a number of challenger banks and FinTechs. This is another important step forward in the journey to open up the UK’s payments systems. This year has already seen broadening access to the schemes, with Raphaels and Metro Bank joining Faster Payments, and Societe Generale and Northern Trust joining CHAPS. In 2017, the interbank schemes are expecting growth in direct participation to continue to accelerate. Hannah Nixon, Managing Director of the Payment Systems Regulator, said: “Simple, clear and fair requirements will help make it easier to gain access to the UK’s Interbank Payment Systems. As the economic regulator for the £75 trillion UK payment systems industry, we welcome the work that has been undertaken to produce this guide – which should help introduce organisations to the different access options available to them in each of the payment systems. -

INTRODUCTION Everything Everywhere Limited (EE) welcomes the opportunity to respond to Ofcom’s important consultation on the next charge control review for local loop unbundling (LLU) and wholesale line rental (WLR) services, issued on 31 March 2011 (the Consultation). This Consultation is of key commercial and competitive significance for the success of EE’s Orange Home fixed voice and broadband business going forward. In this regard we note that, whilst during the course of 2011 we have been moving from a direct shared metallic path facility (SMPF) and WLR based mode of providing these retail services to providing our retail services through a wholesale arrangement with BT, [][]. The comments in this response represent the views of EE. It should be noted that the views of EE’s shareholders and those of the holding companies and ultimate parent companies may vary from these views. Those parts of this response marked with [] and highlighted in blue are confidential to EE. B. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY EE’s experience of LLU regulation and market conditions in the UK as an SMPF based service provider has been a telling one. Most notably, following the initial successes of Ofcom LLU policy in stimulating SMPF based retail broadband competition, progressive changes to regulatory investment ladder have resulted in us witnessing over the last five years the market exit of a very large proportion of the SMPF “early adopters” (e.g. Tiscali, AOL, Pipex, Bulldog). In May 2011, we have also seen the total number of unbundled lines in the UK falling rather than growing for the first time in several years, from 7.62 million lines in April 2011 to 7.56 million lines in May 20111. -

Calderdale Way Walking Route
Calderdale Way, walk route – dramatic West Yorkshire The Calderdale Way is a 50 mile (80 km) walk exploring the hills, moors and valleys of Calderdale. It is an ‘up and down’ journey with few level sections. The higher levels, however, provide some exceptionally fine panoramic views. There are some steep sections and there will be muddy parts following wet weather. Some areas of moorland are exposed. Mileage details, which are approximate, are given for longer sections with intermediate distances. The best walking and views as with all walks, would be in sunny weather following a dry spell. Appropriate footwear and clothing is needed for every part. The walk is accessible by public transport. Additionally it can be split into short walks also by using public transport. Additionally, there are many link paths. For example, an easy walk would be the three mile Norland to Ripponden section. Take the bus from Halifax to Norland and then walk on the level and downhill to Ripponden with another bus back to Halifax. Another even shorter walk combined with sight-seeing, would be to take the train to Hebden Bridge, bus to Heptonstall, and walk ¾ mile down to Hardcastle Crag and bus back to Hebden Bridge. The whole walk is circular and so can be started at any point; this starts at Brighouse. There are bus services to each of the distance points. Train services are available at Brighouse, Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Sowerby Bridge and Halifax. Route map and accommodation links at end of these details. Brighouse, Southowram, West Vale, Norland, Ripponden, Mill Bank (11.5 miles; start satnav HD6 1PQ) This section is a relatively easy introduction to the walk. -
