THE ALL-IN-ONE AUDIOBOOK Combining an Easy-To-Use Player with an Entire Audiobook READ BY THE AUTHOR From comedian and writer Harris Wittels comes a hysterical breakdown of boasts, brags, and self-adulation disguised as humble comments and complaints—based on his meme-making @humblebrag Twitter feed. Something immediately annoyed Harris Wittels about Twitter. All of a sudden it became acceptable to brag, so long as those brags were ever-so-thinly disguised as transparent humility, such as: • “Just filed my taxes. Biggie was right, mo’ money mo’ problems.” • “I hate when I go into a store to get something to eat and the male staff are too busy hitting on me to get my order right :( so annoying!” Harris had seen enough. He took action by naming this phenomenon and creating the Twitter account called @humblebrag—dedicated solely to retweeting the humblebrags of others. Wittels’s new word took the Internet by storm. This audiobook is the definitive guide to all the different types of humblebragging, and provides plenty of evidence to back each one up. And going beyond Twitter, Harris also tells listeners what humblebrags have looked like from some of history’s most notable names, as well as devoting an entire chapter to a man called “Totes McGotes,” who just might be the greatest humblebraggart of them all . HARRIS WITTELS currently writes for NBC’s Parks and Recreation (on which he sometimes appears as Harris, the Animal Control guy). He has also written for HBO’s acclaimed series Eastbound & Down, Comedy Central’s The Sarah Silverman Program, MTV’s Human Giant, and the MTV Video Music Awards. He has several feature film projects in development with Universal, Mandate Pictures, and Scott Rudin Productions. In addition to writing, Wittels regularly tours the country performing stand-up comedy with such comics as Sarah Silverman, Louis C.K., and Aziz Ansari. His stand-up has been featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, and Showtime’s Live Nude Comedy. He was also on Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch” list for 2011. Harris Wittels lives in Los Angeles, California. ACTUAL SIZE Running Time: Approx. 4.25 Hours • Unabridged Copyright © 2012 by Potato Shoes Productions, Inc. All rights reserved. • Thesis from Parks to Presidents: Political
THESIS FROM PARKS TO PRESIDENTS: POLITICAL SENSIBILITIES OF NARRATIVE POLITICAL FICTION Submitted by Seth J. Willden Department of Communication Studies In partial fulfillment of the requirements For the Degree of Master of Arts Fort Collins, Colorado Summer 2016 Master’s Committee Advisor: Nick Marx Karrin Vasby Anderson Doug Cloud Copyright by Seth J. Willden 2016 All Rights Reserved ABSTRACT FROM PARKS TO PRESIDENTS: POLITICAL SENSIBILITIES OF NARRATIVE POLITICAL FICTION This thesis examines the ways televised narrative political fiction can portray political sensibilities. Using the NBC program, Parks and Recreation (2009-2015), and the Netflix streaming service program, House of Cards (2013-2016), I explore how narrative television presents political philosophies to audiences, equipping them to discuss political discourse. ii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Before we begin discussing the political implications of narrative television, I must first provide a narrative of acknowledgement. The MA program in Communication Studies is only a two-year program, and this document marks the end of that two-year journey. But I have been at Colorado State for five years. In a way, the last chapter of this thesis will be the last literal chapter of my five-year career as a CSU student. I wish to first thank the professors that transformed my understanding of the world: Dr. Thomas Dunn, Dr. Scott Diffrient, and Dr. Eric Aoki. You were my first communication studies professors. Each in turn provided excellent education, guidance and support throughout my time as a scholar. I will never forget your pedagogical styles and hunger for understanding the communicative processes of our world. Next I want to thank my thesis committee: Dr.

Through the lens of critical and medium theory, I identify two primary functions of the podcast for this community: 1) as a space for comedy performance involving character- based sketches and stream-of-consciousness conversation and 2) as a meditation on the nature of stand-up comedy that often confronts tensions between popular and folk culture. I argue that these two functions have become generic hallmarks of the alternative comedy podcasting community. As such, they provide important insight into how subcultures reinforce, reinterpret, and manage artistic value in new media environments. Further, the podcast offers an object lesson in the ways that creative artists have exercised a new sense of agency in controlling the direction of their careers.

The Storied Game of Alice Or: Anon's Amazing Semi-Randomized Animu Style Waifu Generator For Lonely Neckbeards In Brief - What Is The Game of Alice About How to Play The Game of Alice Generating Alice - First Things First Age Background Essential Personality Traits Intelligence & Knowledge Hobbies Matters of Appearance Color Height Build Breasts Butt Distinctive Features Special Features Weird Sexual Features Option #1: Alice Enchanted Option #2: My Daily Life with Alice In Brief The following document contains advice and random generation charts to allow you to create a "love interest" type character somewhat inspired (in some cases, at least) by the conventions of romantic anime, named Alice Schmidt. You may simply bask in the pleasant sensation of imagining such a girl as your own lover, or practice your writing skills by composing a short scene or a few starring it or it and yourself. The following paragraphs are merely introduction. If you've already played the game of Alice or don't wish to be bothered, feel free to skip right ahead to "Generating Alice". What It Is About The Game of Alice has always been considered somewhat of an oddity among CYOAs. In fact, it is commonly argued to not be one at all (due to its highly, often entirely random nature), though this one personally finds the point moot. The Game of Alice exhibits clear origination from the same /b/ thread openers which inspired those images more commonly referred to as "CYOAs", and even if that wasn't the case, it is already too heavily associated with the CYOA "community" to be easily separable from it.
