It seeks to address the issue of women’s underrepresentation in political leadership by evaluating the experiences of women candidates in five states, namely Johor, TSabah, Perlis, Penang and Selangor. The research found that despite all the lobbying by female political leaders for a minimum of 30 per cent women candidates, this target was not met.
