On trial during elections? Timetable at stake as Netanyahu back in court Monday Judges will hear defendants’ response to indictment and requests for delay until after March vote; PM, making 2nd court appearance, tells supporters to stay home due to COVID risk By Michael Bachner Today, 10:26 pm After several delays due to the coronavirus lockdown, a much-anticipated court hearing in the corruption trial of Prime Minister will take place at 9 a.m. Monday at the District Court, with the premier and the other defendants required to attend. The hearing will focus on Netanyahu’s response to the criminal indictment against him and launch the evidentiary stage of the trial. It will be the second time Netanyahu attends a hearing of his trial in person. He will likely be required to verbally confirm the defense filed by his lawyers, who will present a series of verbal arguments in addition to their lengthy written response filed to the court last month. The lawyers are expected to focus on procedural arguments such as the alleged lack of sufficient approval to launch the initial investigations and to issue search warrants for material. The court will also discuss the timetable for the evidentiary stage of the trial, including whether its start will be postponed until after the March 23 elections and whether Netanyahu will have to physically attend the expected three long hearings per week, which would consume much of his time, while he also manages the country. Two courtrooms have been combined to accommodate the trial. Security will be stepped up and will be similar to other events attended by the prime minister. The public will not be able to watch the proceedings online. CCTV footage will be broadcast to journalists in an adjacent room, and they will report the hearing’s events in written form. Netanyahu faces charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in Case 4000, which involves suspicions that he granted regulatory favors benefiting Shaul Elovitch, the controlling shareholder of Bezeq telecoms, in exchange for positive coverage of the prime minister and his family from the Bezeq-owned Walla news site. Elovitch and his wife, Iris, also face bribery charges in the case, and will also attend Monday’s hearing. Netanyahu also faces charges of fraud and breach of trust in Case 1000, as well as in Case 2000. The former involves suspicions Netanyahu illicitly accepted some $200,000 in gifts such as cigars and champagne from two billionaires — Hollywood-based Israeli movie mogul Arnon Milchan and Australian magnate James Packer. Arab Israelis largely unimpressed by Netanyahu’s efforts to woo them — poll But Democracy Institute survey finds that 25% of Arabs think their community should cooperate with the premier By TOI staff Today, 5:37 pm While a large majority of Israelis view Benjamin Netanyahu’s efforts to forge ties with the Arab Israeli public as insincere, fully one-quarter of Arabs think they should nevertheless cooperate with the prime minister, a survey released Sunday found. Netanyahu has publicly declared he hopes to win votes from the Arab community in the March elections and has made a number of high-profile visits to Arab towns in Israel in addition to other gestures aimed at wooing the community. The Israel Democracy Institute poll found that Jewish Israelis take the strategy even less seriously than do Arab Israelis, with 70 percent not believing it’s sincere, compared to 66% of Arabs. Nevertheless, 25% of Arab Israelis and 42% of Jewish Israelis think the Arab leadership should cooperate with the prime minister. The willingness among some in the Arab community to work with Netanyahu comes amid lackluster support for Arab politicians. According to the poll, only 23% of respondents rated the Arab-majority party’s performance as good or excellent, compared to 38% who rated its performance as not good or poor. That sentiment is strongest among the young Arab public.

Only 42% of Arab Israelis are sure or moderately sure which party they will vote for. Fifteen percent of Arab interviewees said they would not vote at all, compared to 3% of the Jewish respondents. The January Israeli Voice Index was compiled by the Viterbi Family Center for Public Opinion and Policy Research of the Israel Democracy Institute. The survey was conducted on the internet and by telephone, with 605 men and women interviewed in Hebrew and 300 interviewed in Arabic. The margin of error was 3.32%, at a confidence level of 95%. After warning that large Arab turnout could cost him his premiership in 2015 and more recently removing the Joint List from the equation entirely to argue that he has the support of the majority of the public, Netanyahu has changed course ahead of the March campaign, seeking to woo Arab voters to support . Analysts are split as to whether he believes the long-neglected minority will actually come out and vote for Likud or whether the premier is seeking to instead lower turnout rates in the sector by dividing its representatives and giving voters the feeling there is little difference between their options. Last week Netanyahu unveiled a long-awaited plan to combat violence and organized crime in Arab Israeli communities. “I cannot imagine a future of the State of Israel which contains a Wild West without law and order, with violence, crime and terror. We will overcome it,” Netanyahu said, pledging NIS 100 million ($32 million) to the issue. Arab Israeli politicians and civil society figures immediately slammed the plan as “too little, too late.” A 2016 government decision to fight organized crime in Arab communities had budgeted NIS 2 billion ($605 million) over four years. Netanyahu said that “a much larger plan” would be passed at a later date, without specifying what would be included or when. On Friday, Netanyahu announced that he intended to appoint Nail Zoabi, whom he picked Thursday as the first-ever Muslim on the Likud party’s Knesset slate, as a minister in his next government. Netanyahu said that Zoabi, a school principal, would be appointed “minister for advancing Arab communities” if Likud forms the next coalition. In previous elections, Netanyahu was accused of racist discrimination toward the Arab communities, most famously with his remarks made on the day of the 2015 elections, in which he urged Likud voters to go vote because “the Arabs are voting in droves.” This was widely seen as a racial dog whistle, implying that Arab citizens of Israel were a traitorous fifth column who, when exercising the right to vote, threatened Israeli security. He apologized for the remarks after those elections, and claimed that they had been taken out of context. Likud is also known for the party’s previous unsubstantiated warnings of electoral fraud in Arab communities and repeated attacks on Arab lawmakers, At odds with his wooing of the Arab electorate, Netanyahu last week successfully pushed a merger on the far right of the , which could smooth a path into the Knesset for the extreme party. He has also fostered interaction with Mansour Abbas, from the Ra’am party, in recent months — prompting dissent within the Joint List, of which Ra’am was a constituent faction. Ra’am on Thursday broke away from the Joint List and will run separately in March — a shift that will almost certainly reduce already falling support for the Joint List, which won 15 seats in last March’s elections, and could also see Ra’am fail to clear the 3.25% Knesset threshold — developments seen as highly beneficial to Netanyahu’s reelection prospects. https://www.timesofisrael.com/arab-israelis- largely-unimpressed-by-netanyahus-efforts-to-woo-them-poll/

Vaccine drive slowed by 50%, official laments, blaming online ‘fake news’ HMO warns many young people ‘don’t understand the vaccine’s importance’; top Health Ministry official says inoculation efforts won’t succeed in conferring herd immunity By TOI staff Today, 6:28 pm Even though vaccines are now being offered to all Israelis over the age of 16, the pace of inoculations has slowed dramatically, a senior official in the country’s largest health provider said, accusing online “fake news” of promoting vaccine skepticism. “At the beginning of the [vaccination] campaign we got used to inoculating between 100,000 and 120,000 people per day, and in the last few days we are barely reaching half of those figures,” Kalanit Kaye, the manager of Clalit’s vaccination drive, told the Ynet news site. “We are prepared, our centers are big and accessible, the process should be pretty simple on the whole, vaccines are being given for free, so I don’t understand the people who don’t come to get the shot. It’s a big mistake,” she lamented. Israel’s vaccination program with the Pfizer/BioNtech shot is ongoing, with 3,426,810 people having received the first dose as of Sunday. Of those, 2,016,351 had also received the second dose. “There was greater cooperation among the at-risk populations,” Kaye added. “Right now we’re reaching out to the younger public, and some people don’t understand the vaccine’s importance. Unfortunately, the fake news on social media and in the press is doing damage. People aren’t sufficiently afraid of the coronavirus because they aren’t familiar with what it causes.” According to Health Ministry data released Sunday, 92.8 percent of those 60 and over either received the first vaccine dose or had been infected and recovered from COVID-19. Some 69% of those 60 and over received the second dose more than a week ago, effectively making them immune to the virus. During a meeting Sunday of the Knesset’s Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, one of the country’s top health officials said that even with a much higher vaccination rate, the inoculation drive won’t be enough for herd immunity. Dr. Sharon Alroy-Preis, the head of public health services in the Health Ministry, said, “Since there are 2.5 million children who cannot be vaccinated, we likely will not reach herd immunity, even if the entire rest of the population gets vaccinated.” Children under the age of 16 were excluded from vaccine trials, and cannot be inoculated until further research is conducted. According to the data released Sunday, Israel’s third lockdown has been the least effective one since the beginning of the pandemic. The number of patients in serious condition when Israel entered the first lockdown last March was just seven, and 101 when it ended two months later. The second lockdown began in September 2020 with 568 serious cases, and ended with 647 about a month later.

On Sunday, as Israel began to lift its third lockdown, which began in early January with 949 serious cases, hospitals were struggling to cope with 1,144 coronavirus patients in serious condition. “If there had not been a third lockdown, even with partial participation, the situation would have been much worse; this is what worries me with the exit now,” Alroy- Preis added. The data also showed the rate of positive tests during each lockdown, with the first beginning with 3.7%, and ending with just 1.7%. The second lockdown began with 9.4% and ended with 4.5%. The third lockdown, which began at 4.9%, ended with a positive test rate of 9.4%.

According to Health Ministry figures Sunday, Israel recorded 2,625 new coronavirus infections on Saturday out of 28,852 tests performed; 1,144 patients were listed in serious condition, including 312 who were on ventilators. The death toll climbed to 5,096 as of Sunday morning, according to ministry figures. Alroy-Preis said, “If we do not want to reach tens of thousands of cases and thousands in serious condition, the lockdown exit strategy must be careful, responsible, and slow.” Israel’s third nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19 was eased on Sunday at 7 a.m. after over a month, yet there was no final agreement regarding the reopening of schools and kindergartens. https://www.timesofisrael.com/vaccine-drive-slowed-by-50-official-laments-blaming-online-fake-news/ [Perhaps the reason the vaccination rate has decreased a lot has to do with reports like these: Names Of Those That Died In Israel https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/296375 OR this;

Israeli cyber industry records 70% growth in investments during pandemic With many businesses forced to move their activity online, cybercriminals step up their actions against the vulnerable targets, in turn prompting potential victims to seek more security, with 25% of all global investments in cybersecurity going to Israel TPS | Published: 02.07.21 , 22:00 The cybersecurity industry in Israel recorded a growth of more than 70% in the volume of investments during the past year and coronavirus pandemic, following the growing demand for the protection of information systems against the background of the increase in cyberattacks, a report on one of Israel’s most powerful high-tech industries shows. COVID-19 has forced many businesses and institutions to move their activity online, prompting cybercriminals to step their actions against the vulnerable targets, which in turn prompted potential victims to seek more security, including from Israeli companies. Some countries have seen an increase of hundreds of percent in cyber attacks. [Just like the US election did, with the help of a bunch of deep state politicians. – rdb] The Glilot Capital Partners, one of Israel’s leading venture capital funds, published a “map” that includes more than 120 major private cyber companies in the country, divided into 14 areas of expertise, including cloud protection, Internet and e-mail security, IoT, internal compartmentalization in enterprise computer servers, blockchain, privacy protection, intelligence, application security, identification and access management, system vulnerability analysis and more. According to Kobi Samborsky, managing partner at Glilot Capital, Israel is one of the largest cyber powers in the world with leading and groundbreaking companies in their field. He estimates that in the coming year we will see cyber companies from the list become “unicorns,” a startup company with a value of over $1 billion, and new startups will rise on the map of the leading companies. Israel is considered a global in the cybersecurity business, and approximately 25 percent of all global investments in cybersecurity go to Israel. Israeli companies signed the second-largest number of cybersecurity deals internationally, according to a report by New York data firm CB Insights published in April 2018. The US ranked first. Israel came in second place with 7%, ahead of the United Kingdom with 6%, Canada with 3%, and China with 2%, according to the report. Israel has developed advanced security protocols, as cyber-attacks on Israel have risen exponentially in the past several years, reaching up to two million attacks against crucial Israeli infrastructure on a daily basis. Israel’s rise as one of the world’s leaders in cybersecurity has been boosted by cooperation between the military, government, education and private sectors, a level of partnership unmatched in the West. https://www.ynetnews.com/business/article/SkE6YKaxd

Sharply divided Palestinian factions arrive in Cairo for election talks Fatah and Hamas have not held elections in 15 years, despite numerous promises to do so, and technical issues could prevent the vote from being held this time too By Aaron Boxerman Today, 9:51 pm Senior Palestinian officials arrived in Cairo on Sunday to discuss how the first Palestinian national elections in 15 years would be conducted. “We are at a turning point in the Palestinian struggle,” senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya pledged to Hamas-linked Safa News, at the Rafah crossing with Egypt on Sunday morning. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree in mid-January ordering three successive rounds of Palestinian national elections. The first round — for the currently defunct Palestinian legislature — is set to be held on May 22. Observers are skeptical that elections will indeed happen, as several election promises have fallen by the wayside before. But Fatah officials respond that this is the first time Abbas has issued a formal election decree in more than a decade. “People and observers have the right to be skeptical. But now that the decree has been issued by our side, we will fulfill it on schedule,” senior Fatah official Azzam al-Ahmad told in his Ramallah office in late January. Negotiating teams led by Fatah Secretary-General Jibril Rajoub and Hamas deputy chief Saleh al-Arouri left for the Egyptian capital on Sunday to begin election talks. Representatives of other Palestinian factions, such as Islamic Jihad and the Popular Struggle Front, will also attend. But numerous issues split the rival Palestinian movements, who have not successfully held a national election since Hamas’s landslide victory in the 2006 Palestinian legislative elections. “The Cairo talks are an attempt to remove the obstacles in the way of the elections, given that they are being conducted in light of the continuing divide,” al-Ahmad said. The terror group’s victory led to a brief, tense unity government between the two sides. The international community boycotted the government because Hamas is a terror group committed to violent struggle against Israel. Biden: US will not lift Iran sanctions until it stops enriching uranium Last quarterly estimates by IAEA show Iran's stock of enriched uranium has risen to 2.4 tons, more than 10 times the amount allowed under the JCPOA. By OMRI NAHMIAS FEBRUARY 7, 2021 22:01 WASHINGTON – US President Joe Biden said on Sunday that the US would not lift sanctions on Iran to get the Islamic Republic back to the negotiations table. During an interview with CBS’ Face the Nation ahead of the 55th Super Bowl, he was also asked if Iran must stop enriching uranium first, and nodded his head in affirmation. Ned Price, the State Department spokesman, said on Friday that the US approach would be “to ensure that we are consulting and coordinating very closely with first and foremost our allies, but also our partners, and of course, with members of Congress” about Iran. “We want to make sure that we are working in lockstep with our European partners and to ensure that they know exactly where we are and we know exactly where they are, and we will move forward together,” he added. [You really don’t have any European partners and haven’t for years. The only partnership is with the deep state group not the American people. – rdb] Earlier on Sunday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Tehran’s “final and irreversible” decision was to return to compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal only if Washington lifts sanctions on the Islamic Republic, Iranian state TV reported. The deal, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was signed during the administration of former president Barack Obama. “Iran has fulfilled all its obligations under the deal, not the US and the three European countries... If they want Iran to return to its commitments, the US must in practice... lift all sanctions,” state TV quoted Khamenei as saying in a meeting with Air Force commanders. [This is a blatant boldface idiotic lie. – rdb] “Then, after verifying whether all sanctions have been lifted correctly, we will return to full compliance... It is the irreversible and final decision and all Iranian officials have consensus over it.” Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also said on Sunday that Iran receiving compensation from the US for the US withdrawal from the 2015 Iranian JCPOA was not a “precondition” for reviving the agreement. Last week, Price said at a State Department press briefing that if Iran comes back into full compliance with its obligations under the JCPOA, “the United States would do the same, and then we would then use that as a platform to build a longer and a stronger agreement that also addresses other areas of concern.” “Of course, though, we are a long way from that,” he added. “Iran has distanced itself from compliance on a number of fronts, and there are many steps in that process.” With Iran resuming its enrichment of uranium, we asked Pres. Biden if the U.S. will lift sanctions first in order to get Iran back to the negotiating table on a nuclear deal. “No,” Pres. Biden says, affirming that Iran will have to stop its enrichment program first pic.twitter.com/OPszf15Q1o — Norah O'Donnell (@NorahODonnell) February 7, 2021 He said that the US is consulting with allies and members of Congress “before we’re reaching the point where we’re going to engage directly with the Iranians and willing to entertain any sort of proposal, especially since we’ve been very clear about the proposition we have put on the table.” Secretary of State Antony Blinken, said in his Senate confirmation hearing last month that when it comes to Iran policy, it is vitally important that the incoming administration would “engage on the take-off, not the landing, with our allies and with our partners in the region to include Israel and to include the Gulf countries.” [HUMMM? Is that Blinken of the famous firm Winken Blinken and Nod? Probably just as sleepy as sleepy Joe if he is dull enough to be associated with him. – rdb] “President-elect Biden is committed to the proposition that Iran will not acquire a nuclear weapon,” he said. “Iran, with a nuclear weapon or on a threshold of having one would be Iran that is even more dangerous than it already is when it comes to all of the other malicious activities that it has engaged in, whether it is support for terrorism; whether it is fueling and feeding its proxies; whether it is destabilizing the region.” He said that any agreement should “capture these other issues, particularly with regard to missiles and Iran destabilizing activities, that would be the objective.” “Having said that, I think we’re a long way from there,” Blinken added. “We would have to see once the president- elect is in office, what steps Iran actually takes and is prepared to take, and we would then have to evaluate whether they were actually making good. If they say they’re coming back into compliance with their obligations and then we’ve taken it from there.” Reuters contributed to this report. https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/biden-us-will-not-lift-sanctions-on-iran- 658133

U.S. headed for war with China, warns top Beijing academic 'The stability of the past three years between the two countries is gone' By Bob Unruh Published February 7, 2021 at 4:08pm A prominent Beijing scholar on international relations is warning that without a "new stability" in China's relationship with the United States, "there will be war." "It cannot be taken for granted and fantasized that conflict will never erupt between the two," said Shi Yinhong, a professor at the Institute of International Relations at Renmin University. A transcript of his speech at the National Institute of Development and Strategy of Renmin University was posted Monday on Guancha, a news site affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute. He said the stability that the U.S. and China have had in the past is gone. "So there must be new strategic stability which will be achieved by being practical, sufficiently focused, and through specific and important proposals, dialogues or negotiations," he insisted. "I think the trend of China-U.S. relations after the U.S. election can be influenced or shaped by China to a large extent," he said. "Therefore, China's strategies and policies, as well as appropriate adjustments to these strategic policies, are very important. The current situation of China and the U.S. determines that it is impossible for the two sides to significantly back down from their confrontation or rivalry." He said China first must "implement strategic/military adjustment and revision with resolution, commitment and persistence, and use it as a basic condition for negotiation to reduce the risk of collisions on strategic frontiers between China and the U.S., while promoting new strategic stability." "The stability of the past three years between the two countries is gone, and without new stability, there will be war," he said. "So there must be new strategic stability which will be achieved by being practical, sufficiently focused, and through specific and important proposals, dialogues or negotiations." Secondly, he said, that for a "certain period of time, although there can be and must be exceptions, but in general, China cannot have confrontation with other developed countries besides the United States and Britain, as well as any major developing countries." "The purpose is to focus strategically and reduce first- and second-tier opponents," he said. Shi said that over the past year, "the strategic frontiers of China and the U.S. are inching closer, especially when the two countries were set in motion of confrontation and opposition against each other." "It cannot be taken for granted and fantasized that conflict will never erupt between the two. [If we] do not deal with problems, or properly solve problems, at least part of the problems of stability, who can say that China and the U.S. will not be on a clashing path? So it is necessary to encourage the two countries to reduce the threat of the collision of their strategic frontiers, and promote new strategic stability between them," he said. "We must strive to solve new strategic problems through practical thinking, sufficient focus and dialogues or negotiations on important proposals. At the same time, this will also serve to isolate the views towards China of the U.S. political class and to win over other important countries in the world with their more understanding and sympathy for China." https://www.wnd.com/2021/02/u-s-headed-war-china-warns-top-beijing-academic/

US moves to rejoin UN rights council, in move likely to irk Israel advocates Secretary of State Blinken expected to announce return to Geneva-based body that Trump administration quit in 2018 while citing ongoing bias against Jerusalem By AP and TOI staff Today, 3:44 am The Biden administration is set to announce this week that it will reengage with the much- maligned UN Human Rights Council that former US president Donald Trump withdrew from almost three years ago, US officials said Sunday. The decision reverses another Trump-era move away from multilateral organizations and agreements. US officials say Secretary of State Antony Blinken and a senior US diplomat in Geneva will announce on Monday that Washington will return to the Geneva-based body as an observer with an eye toward seeking election as a full member. The decision is likely to draw criticism from conservative lawmakers and many in the pro-Israel community. Trump pulled out of the world body’s main human rights agency in 2018 due to its disproportionate focus on Israel, which has received by far the largest number of critical council resolutions against any country, as well as the number of authoritarian countries among its members and because it failed to meet an extensive list of reforms demanded by then-US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley. In addition to the council’s persistent focus on Israel, the Trump administration took issue with the body’s membership, which currently includes China, Cuba, Eritrea, Russia and Venezuela, all of which have been accused of human rights abuses. One senior US official said the Biden administration believed the council must still reform but that the best way to promote change is to “engage with it in a principled fashion.” The official said it can be “an important forum for those fighting tyranny and injustice around the world” and the US presence intends to “ensure it can live up to that potential.” That official and three others familiar with the decision were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly ahead of the announcement and spoke on condition of anonymity. Although the US will have only nonvoting observer status on the council through the end of 2021, the officials said the administration intends to seek one of three full member seats — currently held by Austria, Denmark and Italy — from the “Western Europe and other states group” that come up for election later this year. New bill allows state to ignore Joe Biden's executive orders Requires constitutional review of presidential actions By Bob Unruh Published February 7, 2021 at 11:48am Lawmakers in North Dakota -- where consumers can sue Big Tech and a judge recently exempted religious physicians from doing Obamacare "sex change" operations -- are proposing a law allowing the state to ignore presidential executive orders if they don't meet constitutional muster. House Bill 1164, introduced for the 2021 session, says the "legislative management may review any executive order issued by the president of the United States which has not been affirmed by a vote of the Congress of the United States and signed into law as prescribed by the Constitution of the United States and recommend to the attorney general and the governor that the executive order be further reviewed." [Brilliant move. It is much needed by many of the states to put some fetters on the out of control Fed. – rdb] It also allows for a review of an executive order by the attorney general "to determine the constitutionality of the order and whether the state should seek an exemption from the application of the order or seek to have the order declared to be an unconstitutional exercise of legislative authority by the president." It states that "political subdivision" can implement such an order "that restricts a person's rights or that the attorney general determines to be unconstitutional under subsection 1 and which relates to: a. pandemics or other health emergencies; b. the regulation of natural resources, including coal and oil; c. the regulation of the agriculture industry; d. the use of land; 3. The regulation of the financial sector… or; f. the regulation of the constitutional right to keep and bear arms." National File reported Republican state Rep. Sebastian Ertelt has introduced a separate bill that would affect the same fate to unconstitutional legislation by Congress. His Committee on Neutralization of Federal Laws, comprised of state legislative leadership and appointees, would advise whether a given federal law or regulation is unconstitutional. "Should the committee find that a law or regulation is unconstitutional, the North Dakota Legislature would pass a concurrent resolution on whether to nullify the transgressing law or edict," the report said. South Dakota bill seeks power to reject presidential executive orders https://t.co/krkDMXAJSP — Samantha Sullivan (@SamSullivan) February 1, 2021 South Dakota lawmakers are working on a similar plan. Another bill would enable people who have been censored by Twitter and Facebook to sue the tech monopolies. House Bill 1144 would "permit civil actions against social media sites for censoring speech." "If an interactive computer service provider restricts, censors or suppresses information that does not pertain to obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, excessively violent, harassing, or otherwise objectionable subject matter, the interactive computer service provider is liable in a civil action for damages to the person whose speech is restricted, censored, or suppressed, and to any person who reasonably otherwise would have received the writing, speech, or publication," the bill states. It requires that the defendant be immune from civil liability under federal law, not be considered a publisher and have over 1 million users. In North Dakota in January a federal judge issued a ruling that protects some doctors from an Obamacare requirement to perform gender "change" surgeries. In a case brought by the Religious Sisters of Mercy, Catholic Benefits Association and others, U.S. District Judge Peter Welte in North Dakota granted a request to prevent the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission from enforcing the Obamacare requirement. It forces health care providers to perform gender-reassignment surgeries. "The court declares that HHS's interpretation of Section 1557 that requires the Catholic plaintiffs to perform and provide insurance coverage for gender-transition procedures violates their sincerely held religious beliefs without satisfying strict scrutiny under the [Religious Freedom Restoration Act]," the judge said. "Accordingly, the court permanently enjoins and restrains HHS, Secretary Azar, their divisions, bureaus, agents, officers, commissioners, employees, and anyone acting in concert or participation with them, including their successors in office, from interpreting or enforcing Section 1557 … or any implementing regulations thereto against the Catholic plaintiffs in a manner that would require them to perform or provide insurance coverage for gender- transition procedures, including by denying federal financial assistance because of their failure to perform or provide insurance coverage for such procedures or by otherwise pursuing, charging, or assessing any penalties, fines, assessments, investigations, or other enforcement actions." https://www.wnd.com/2021/02/new-bill-allows-state-ignore-joe-bidens-executive-orders/

CNN report finds deceased Capitol Police officer didn't suffer blunt force trauma, wasn't struck by fire extinguisher Big development in the Capitol riots case Paul Sacca February 06, 2021 There is an important detail regarding the Capitol riots that is buried in the eighth paragraph of a CNN article with the headline: "Investigators struggle to build murder case in death of US Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick." The article states that U.S. Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, who died during the storming of the U.S. Capitol building, was not killed by blunt force trauma. This is a contradiction of previous reporting by various media outlets that said the Capitol Police officer was killed by being struck in the head with a fire extinguisher. From the CNN article: According to one law enforcement official, medical examiners did not find signs that the officer sustained any blunt force trauma, so investigators believe that early reports that he was fatally struck by a fire extinguisher are not true. The report notes that Sicknick's cause of death is still not known, adding that the "findings from a medical examiner's review have not yet been released and authorities have not made any announcements about that ongoing process." Investigators are reportedly looking into the possibility that Sicknick became violently ill after coming in contact with a chemical irritant such as pepper spray or bear spray. Medical examiners are also trying to determine if Sicknick possibly had a preexisting medical condition that negatively affected him during the Capitol riots on Jan. 6. The report revealed that authorities are "struggling to build a federal murder case" in Sicknick's death because there is a "lack of evidence that could prove someone caused his death." Law enforcement is said to have "reviewed video and photographs that show Sicknick engaging with rioters amid the siege but have yet to identify a moment in which he suffered his fatal injuries." This new report is a contradiction from earlier reporting by news outlets that said Sicknick died because he was struck in the head with a fire extinguisher "during a struggle." Wyoming Republican Party Censures Cheney, Calls for Her Resignation Bronson Stocking Posted: Feb 06, 2021 9:45 PM Rep. Liz Cheney's (R-WY) colleagues in the House may have been willing to overlook her impeachment vote, but Wyoming Republicans are not. On Saturday, the state's Republican Party officially censured Cheney and called for her resignation. Sixty-six members on the state GOP's 74-member committee reportedly agreed to the censure, accusing Cheney of voting to impeach President Trump even though the House failed to offer the president a formal hearing or due process. Before casting her impeachment vote, Cheney said Trump "summoned the mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack," in reference to the Capitol riot in early January. According to a copy of the censure obtained by Forbes, the state GOP is calling on Cheney to "immediately resign" and allow the state party to nominate her replacement. They also ask Cheney to return donations made to her campaign. Cheney is Wyoming's at-large representative in the House. And since 70 percent of Wyoming voters cast their ballots for President Trump, it's safe to say Cheney's constituents weren't thrilled when their representative led a small group of House Republicans in voting for impeachment. In fact, Wyoming Republicans were furious. Following the vote, the Wyoming Republican Party said in a statement that never before has the party seen "this type of an outcry from our fellow Republicans." According to the statement, "the anger and frustration" is "palpable in the comments" the party received. The statement said the party believes it's important for elected officials to respect and represent their constituents and called Cheney's vote to impeach Trump a "true travesty for Wyoming and the country." Commentaries: What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Gun Control Daniel Greenfield February 07, 2021 A social ill takes place on three levels: the object level, the individual level, and the social level. Take alcoholism. There’s the object, alcohol. There’s the choice that the individual makes to drink the alcohol. And, finally, there’s the social problems that can be blamed for widespread alcoholism. The gun control movement operates in the same object-oriented space of the prohibitionist movement. For prohibitionists, the problem was gin. For the gun control movement, it’s all about the guns. Get rid of the gin and the guns, and the underlying problem goes away without having to do anything else. While the old prohibitionism of sin substances, liquor, drugs, and pornography has been ridiculed and its legal infrastructure dismantled, the obsessive certainty that guns are inherently corrupting holds sway. The lefty media insists that the only solution to gun violence is prohibitionism and more prohibitionism. Yet the argument for blaming guns is much weaker than the one for blaming drugs or alcohol. Alcohol and drugs are addictive compounds that shape how we think. Guns, unlike alcohol and drugs, aren’t addictive. Nor do they influence behavior. Their relationship to us remains an external one. And object-oriented prohibitionism is the least meaningful way of looking at a social problem. In the prohibitionist and anti-prohibitionist discourse over gun control, the familiar choice between civil rights and mass death dominates the debate. It’s the same framework that the Left rejects when it comes to crime and national security, but embraces on the issues of environmentalism and guns. Guns do kill people in the same purely mechanistic sense in which alcohol, drugs, or rat poison do. But guns are a means, not a motive. They don’t explain why gun violence happens, only how it happens. Above the object level is the individual level. Guns don’t really kill people; killers do. Tackling a social ill at the human level explores the moral and mental state of the individual. Modern society is secular and scientific rather than moral, and reduces human evil to a medical condition. Mental illness explains the behavior of some killers, but others have no explanation other than evil. The gun control argument insists that we ignore the moral and mental nature of the killer by contending that without guns, he wouldn’t want to kill, wouldn’t be able to kill, or, in the most rational version of the argument, wouldn’t be able to kill large numbers of people. None of those claims are actually true. Gun violence is how people kill. It’s not why they kill. Nor is it the only way to commit mass murder. Most gun violence is still gang violence. Mental illness isn’t killing 5 or 6 people in Chicago, Detroit, or Baltimore over the weekend. The media overlooks regular mass shootings in major cities, while zooming in on unusual mass shootings in suburban communities. That’s because the gun control movement really doesn’t want to talk about the social component of gun violence and organized crime. Usually, the Left loves root causes. It can trace any individual dysfunction to the problems at the heart of a society. But when it comes to guns, it refuses to look past the physical object, while blaming everyone responsible for the existence of guns, from firearms manufacturers to the NRA. But blaming everyone involved with the existence of an object is not an examination of the root causes of its misuse. The prohibitionists weren’t dealing with the root cause of alcoholism by busting up gin mills. The latest attacks on firearms manufacturers have just as little to do with the problems they claim to care about. The social crises of alcohol and drug abuse had at their root cause social dislocation and a lack of purpose. No amount of prohibitionism, a negative, will provide people with a meaningful life. The white suburban shooter and the urban black gang member lack purpose and meaning. Banning guns won’t stop them from killing. Nor will it turn their lives around. It’s the act of a society that doesn’t want to address what is wrong on the inside and instead clings desperately to waging war on externalities. Americans used to have access to firearms on a scale that would horrify any contemporary crusader. Shootings weren’t treated as a problem caused by being able to buy a handgun in a hardware store, but as a sign that civilization, whether in an urban slum or a western town, had broken down. In the age of government, uncivilized behavior is treated as a sign that regulation has broken down. But regulations control what people do. Not who they are. Murder is not first and foremost a regulatory failure, and only occasionally a mental one, but it is universally a moral one. When social problems are reduced to objects, then people are also objectified. The killer pulls the trigger in the same mechanical way as the gun fires. He has no more of an inner life than his tool. The only solution is equally mechanistic: get rid of all the guns, and no more people will be shot. It’s a solution that ignores the realities of human ingenuity and depravity. It works for machines, not people. But when we look at the individual and the social level, we can see both positive and negative options. The false choice between civil rights and mass murder that the gun control movement offers us is replaced with seeing prevention not in terms of how to take away something, but how to add value. The gun is the least relevant and the least interesting aspect of why a killing really takes place. On the social level, many killers are part of a real or virtual social community which affirms their crimes. It is no coincidence that mass shooters cite their predecessors as inspirations or that gang violence takes place within a territorial network of criminal communities and theological gang religions. Killing in these contexts is not just a method; it’s a culture. It has its own moral code. One that is antithetical to ours. A moral and cultural conflict cannot be fought and will not be won with impersonal regulations. On the individual level, the killer is driven by impulses. The gun is how he chooses to actualize those impulses. But mass killers have driven cars and trucks into crowds. They’ve started fires and set off bombs. How is not the most important question when it comes to a killer. The question is why. And yet we spend very little time talking about the social infrastructure and moral state of the killer. Instead, the gun control movement, which dominates a political party, an ideology, and its associated institutions -- including academia and the media -- obsesses endlessly about the mechanics of the kill. It compares America to other countries, as if nations and cultures were as interchangeable as mechanical moving parts, and asserts that the solution is making them interchangeable. The killers are also assumed to be interchangeable. What drives them to kill is not internal, but external. Anyone, at any time, the gun control movement suggests, can turn into a killer when faced with a tempting gun. If murder is a mechanical problem, then it’s hopeless. Forget the guns. Everyone has a car or can get their hands on one. Accelerants are available in every store. Knives are casually sold everywhere. If we are truly savages, then no amount of regulation will restore civilization. The killings will continue. A civilization’s fundamental laws are moral. Its true strictures are not external, but internal. Their power lies in the moral and social order. Crime and violence are a sign that our moral and social orders have broken down. No amount of regulations can civilize savages. And few regulations are needed for civilized men. What fundamentally separates the Left and the Right is the understanding that man is not an ape or a machine. And that his ills cannot be solved with the mechanical tinkering of regulators. Gun control and gun violence are both expressions of the amoral and inhuman worldview of the Left. Daniel Greenfield is a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center. Immigration and China’s Threat to Our Sovereignty, Part 2 By Tom DeWeese|February 7th, 2021 Is the U.S. Being Colonized? For the past few decades the Communist regime of China has been driving toward world supremacy, both economically and militarily. The regime’s main target has been, and is, the United States of America. China’s plan to grab power has been clever and unprecedented, seeking victory without firing a shot, reducing its targets to mere frogs in a boiling pot. Pundits and politicians alike, when excusing their strategic dealings with China, are quick to remind their audiences that today’s China is a “centuries old civilization” rich in tradition and ancient religious discipline. A Confucian civilization that is still upset over wrongdoings during the European colonization period. Such a view is wrong. The China we are confronted with today is nothing like that pre-nineteenth century nation. Since the reign of Mao Tse-tung began in 1949, Communist China, much to the dismay, torture, and death of its own citizens, has been governed by tyrannical thugs, thirsty to expand their dictatorial regime and unrelenting in their hatred of Western Civilization and the United States. Militarily, China has literally surrounded the US. Once there was a Monroe Doctrine to forbid any foreign power to exert influence in American’s backyard, meaning South, Central, and North America. All nations respected that doctrine as America vigorously imposed it. That is, until China played on the growing weakness of American foreign policy, as when Jimmy Carter gave away the Panama Canal and scuttled all American bases in one of the most strategic locations of American defense. Since then, China has established relationships and bases in several South and Central American nations. The Chinese are now building the world’s largest and most powerful navy, aggressively challenging US naval passage in international waters; it now claims the entire South China Sea as an internal Chinese lake; and it is building an aggressive space program that will give it the ability to counter US satellite supremacy, resulting in its ability to spy on every location on Earth and counter US military supremacy. The difference between the Chinese threat today and what turned out to be a hollow challenge to the free world by the Soviet Union during the Cold War, is economics. The genius of the Chinese system is that they are using its growing industrial might to create wealth the Soviets could never have dreamed of possessing. China is using its vast wealth (trillions of dollars) compiled from the glut of Chinese goods sold in American stores, to buy its power. As a result, it’s buying American debt, gold reserves, and wielding heavy influence on the American economy. Now, however, that Chinese economic power is taking a bizarre and exceptionally dangerous turn in local American communities, America, it appears, is on the brink of being colonized, because China is fast becoming the largest landowner in America. This fact is mostly a result of a program through the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Service (USCIS), called Immigrant Investor Regional Centers. The program is known in Washington-Speak as EB-5 Centers, so called because they represent a fifth category of employment-based immigration. In reality, it’s a foreign investment program pretending to be a jobs program. To qualify for the plan, applicants must invest $1,000,000 in a US business or at least $500,000 if the business is in an area of high unemployment or rural area. That investment must create or preserve 10 full-time American jobs. In exchange, the immigrant will initially gain legal residency and U.S. Green Cards for their entire family. If the enterprise continues and jobs are created, then the applicant can apply for permanent residence. According to government reports, since it started in 1990, the EB-5 visa program has brought approximately $6.7 billion to the US and has created 95,000 jobs. Entrepreneurs across the nation have set up regional centers for foreign investment to market local EB-5 projects to investors. There are now at least 480 EB-5 regional centers located in all 50 states. California alone has 116 of the centers. Many of these projects are focusing on building housing developments. Others are concerned with buying up dairy farms, cattle ranches, meat packing plants, and other sources of American food supplies. Still more are centered on getting a piece of American energy sources. Some of the centers are state run, others are private investment entities. Beyond the Green Cards and residency, the immigrants running these projects can also expect government sponsored benefits such as federal and state grants (taxpayer dollars), tax breaks, or perhaps no sales taxes on supplies and materials they purchase to put the projects in place. Along with federal agencies, the projects work directly with state and county development corporations for more cooperation and help getting through the regulatory mine fields that ordinary American companies must endure. EB-5 Immigrant Investor Regional Centers are promoted as jobs programs and as a way to help financially strapped communities to bring in much needed money. As a result, the projects are growing across the nation with little concern expressed over the impact and end result of such foreign involvement in American communities. Marriot and Hilton hotel chains have successfully worked EB-5 investment deals to build new hotels. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Warner Brothers have used EB-5 investments to fund film projects. Even the new home of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, Barclay Center, was funded through EB-5 investments. While the program is open to immigrants from around world, the main interest appears to be from Communist China. According to a report by Michael Snyder (“Chinese Buying Land in US Communities all over America”), in 2012 – 2013, 6,900 visas were issued to Chinese nationals out of a total of 8,567 EB-5 visas issued. In 2014, the number of applicants was 50% higher – again driven by Chinese applicants. When considering this large influx of Chinese-funded projects, it must be understood that there are no private companies in China that are free to act on their own. China is a Communist regime. Nothing happens there without the express permission and backing of the government. Individuals posing as Chinese corporate leaders are part of that government. They simply wouldn’t have that position if not approved by the government. For the most part they are a front. Forty-three percent of all corporate profits in China are produced by companies that the Chinese government controls outright. And all the rest of their companies are subservient to the power of the government and are very careful not to stray. Individual Chinese citizens are not free to invest as they wish or to leave the country by their own decision. It takes a complicated process through the Chinese bureaucracy for that to happen. And that’s why massive Chinese investments in the EB-5 program are cause for alarm. What are they up to? In San Francisco, California, China Vanke signed a deal for a $620 million luxury condo project. In Oakland, California, another Chinese company (Zarsion) signed a deal for $1.5 billion for a development deal. In Irvine, California, a housing development will include some of the nation’s largest developers using Chinese money. In New York City, Zhang Xin, CEO of Soho China joined with Banco Safra Bank of Brazil to buy a piece of the General Motors Building in Midtown. A Chinese developer, Dalian Wanda Group, is planning to build a luxury hotel in Manhattan. In Florida, Chinese investors have put $30 million into the state’s Charter Schools and are intending to invest even more in coming days. Twelve Chinese investors have put $16 million into an aquaculture project on 100 acres in Fellsmere, Florida. In Virginia, the Chinese bought Smithfield Foods and its 460 large farms and facilities in 26 states, employing tens of thousands of Americans. More recent efforts show the Chinese making major investments in the Detroit auto industry. In Thomasville, Alabama, the Golden Dragon Precise Copper Tube Group is negotiating with city officials to build a new plant. The town is ready to give them a 40-acre site that includes a 50,000 square foot building built by the city – with taxpayer money. More such projects are in the works in Idaho, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, and literally every state in the Union. In 2014, Americans were shocked to witness a near massacre in the Nevada desert as rancher Cliven Bundy stood his ground against an army of government agents from the Bureau of Land Management. He was accused of letting his cattle graze on public lands, endangering the Desert Tortoise, even though cattle and the Desert Tortoise have coexisted on the range for 100 years. Was it for this excuse that the federal government amassed an army? Well, not so fast. There is much more to the story. It seems a certain U.S. Senator was involved with EB-5 real estate deals and that issue had close ties to the Bundy situation. ENN Energy Group wanted to build a 5 billion-dollar solar farm in the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone, on which Bundy’s farm is located. Who were the investors for ENN? The Chinese, using the EB-5 program. Who represented ENN in its negotiations? Rory Reid, former Senator Harry Reid’s son. This little band had already run off 52 other ranchers in the area. Bundy was the last one left. So, was the BLM there in force for turtles or as the private enforcement machine of a corrupt senator seeking to fill his pockets with cash? Senator Reid is the one who said, “This isn’t over yet.” He was apparently in a position to know. However, Reid wasn’t the only public figure involved in EB-5 schemes. A little research will also reveal an EB-5 deal by Anthony Rodham, Hillary Clinton’s brother, and former son in law of Barbra Boxer. Also in that deal was Terry McAuliffe, former Clinton advisor and then Governor of Virginia. These two gained EB-5 investments for their car company. And then there is Alejandro Mayorkas, who helped push through the deal for McAuliffe and Rodham. Mayorkas then became the number two man at the Department of Homeland Security under Barack Obama, aided in getting that position through some questionable maneuvering during his confirmation hearings by none other Senator Harry Reid. But perhaps the most aggressive Chinese project is moving forward in Sullivan County, New York, in the Catskill Mountains. This project is called China City. It will eventually cover over 2,000 acres spread over the towns of Thompson and Mamakating. It will include a Chinese-themed gambling/entertainment complex, hotels, China-related businesses, a high school, a college, and 1,000 residences. According to the plan, every province of China will have an office there and the city will be full of symbols of Chinese culture. When finished it would be a $6 billion project, including a $65 million federal grant of taxpayer money along with the other incentives such as tax breaks on building supplies and property taxes. At a public meeting held in 2014, a local citizen asked the China City spokesman if Americans would be allowed to live there. The vague answer was “Well, you can visit our amusement park and stay in our hotels.” Is this how Americans are to be treated in their own country, in a project paid in part by American taxpayer dollars? And exactly what American jobs will be created (as required) in a planned city where no Americans can live? Will the Chinese government send its own workers to do the construction of the city? And what security process will be used to assure such workers are not involved in espionage? This is a legitimate concern when dealing with the Communist Chinese government. While brilliant in its strategy, it is single minded in its goal – supremacy. The United States has always stood in its way to achieve that supremacy. But the waning American economy and a US government that no longer sees communism as a threat, makes us vulnerable to a power that knows exactly what it seeks. American communities are so hungry for money that they will ignore almost anything. Red flags should go up when locals are told they can’t live in China City. Why? Is this simply about an investment opportunity, or is China City, and other Chinese investments, actually to be Chinese colonies? Why will it house offices from every China province? Do we know what those offices are to do? Who will man them? Obviously, that is not where the 10 permanent American jobs will come from. It’s important to note that the Canadian government has decided recently to halt its immigrant investor program due to the large number of Chinese applications that were found to be fraught with fraud and corruption and to be of little economic benefit to the country. Meanwhile, the US is expanding such programs to make it much easier for foreign investment and ultimately unfettered foreign espionage. We’re creating special foreign trade zones (FTZ) designed to give special US customs treatment to US companies that go along with the EB-5 projects. That means security will be lacking in the interest of “good relations.” Yet, it was only a decade ago that US intelligence discovered the Chinese had taken control of both ends of the Panama Canal. Using a shill company called Hutchison Whampoa, which was wholly owned by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, it negotiated a 25 to 50 year lease for the Canal ports. As the United States pulled out of our Panamanian bases and headed home, corrupt Panamanian officials were busy selling former US property to the highest bidders and Columbian drug lords, Russian Mafia, while a horde of Chinese “immigrants” filled the void. It was like the bar scene in Star Wars. Would the Chinese put in missile bases with weapons that could reach the US? As Bill Clinton assured us that everything was just fine, the Chinese were busy negotiating with the Cuban Communist regime and several other South American countries to create a Chinese presence in the entire region surrounding the Panama Canal. They now considered it their territory for the taking. Is this now what faces American cities where EB-5 investment programs are being imposed with Chinese Communist money? As a new assault by hordes of Chinese “immigrants” legally invade our nation, filling housing developments and building their own cities, our culture will be affected. Even our system of government could change in areas where Chinese populations begin to grow and perhaps even outnumber Americans. Most recently, evidence is growing that the Chinese were heavily involved in the recent election fraud. All from an enemy we let through the front door in a government program, based more on greed than American interests. Like the invasion of the body snatchers, it appears the Chinese, aided by a compliant American government, have a well-devised strategic plan to literally colonize the once great United States of America – without ever firing a shot. https://newswithviews.com/immigration-and-chinas-threat-to-our-sovereignty-part-2/

THE SHORASHIM BIBLICAL GIFT CATALOG 005 http://mad.ly/7f9f64?pact=20013931524&fe=1 Support Shorashim! Shaked: This time we will do better than the polls project MK feels there is positive momentum for : The vast majority of religious feels at home in Yamina. Nitsan Keidar , Feb 08 , 2021 4:35 AM

Ayelet Shaked MK Ayelet Shaked, head of the Yamina Knesset faction, on Sunday welcomed the decision of the Jewish Home Party to support Yamina, headed by . "I am very happy that the Jewish Home is with us. Yamina has a slate that beautifully represents the whole spectrum of and the ideological right. I think this is a list that is part of the path of religious Zionism to the leadership of the state," said Shaked. "I said that Smotrich's split was unnecessary, but that’s what he decided to do and that's behind us. Now we need to move forward and succeed in the election," she added. Shaked was asked, in light of past data showing Yamina being successful in the polls but winning fewer seats at the ballot box, whether there is a chance that this time the situation will be different. "We see potential for an increase in seats. There are large crowds, both secular and traditional, who are joining us. There is no doubt that the vast majority of religious Zionism feels at home in the Yamina party and I think we can go up again. The public no longer buys the Likud's cries of ‘gevalt’ two days before the election. People will come to us because they are looking for honest, value-based, right-wing leadership and one that will know how to get Israel out of this mess," she replied. Asked about Gideon Sa’ar’s party, which is emerging as a direct rival of Yamina, Shaked responded, "Gideon Sa’ar belongs to the ‘anyone but Bibi’ school and really has nothing to offer except this slogan. Where has he been in the last year? I believe the vote will not be superficial and people who come to the polls will ask themselves who can rescue the country from chaos, unite the people, produce 400 thousand jobs and fight the coronavirus. In my opinion, this time on election day we will win and go up in numbers compared to the polls.” Shaked, the former justice minister, commented on the decision of the judges of the International Criminal Court who ruled that the court's authority applies in Judea and Samaria, allowing its Chief Prosecutor to file lawsuits against Israelis. "This is a completely political and biased court and this is a miserable decision that has no legal basis. The State of Israel investigates itself. There is the criminal investigation division, the Military Advocate General and the Supreme Court and there is no place to give a foothold to an international court. We see the court, instead of handling dark dictatorships, dealing with advanced democracies such as Israel and the United States. It is an unfortunate body that in my opinion needs to pass from this world," Shaked declared. "In recent years, Israel has taken the right actions against the tribunal, but Netanyahu's big mistake was when the Palestinians threatened to go to the tribunal. Not all the leverage that could be exerted on them politically and diplomatically was applied at the time. I am sure we will succeed in this challenge. The are many things that can be done vis-à-vis the ICC and I hope that the right steps will be taken." Shaked also commented on the beginning of the easing of the lockdown and said, "We are on the road to catastrophe and a fourth lockdown. Netanyahu's accordion approach - to open and close - has not proven itself, certainly not in the age of mutations. Netanyahu and Miri Regev left the airport open, despite our requests to filter through testing. Today there is one big infection party in Israel made up of mutations." "The State of Israel is the world champion when it comes to time under lockdown and the markets here have been closed more than any other country in the world. This is inconceivable. The way this is being handled is a total failure and vaccines will not be effective quickly because of the massive infection of the mutations. The right thing is to follow Naftali Bennett's plan which talks about ‘zero infection’, and in a few days, it will be possible to release some of the cities from restrictions, return to school, open businesses and restaurants," she concluded. https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/296423

South Africa suspends rollout of AstraZeneca vaccine Move comes after a small clinical trial suggested the vaccine only offers limited protection against the South African variant. Ben Ariel , Feb 08 , 2021 3:04 AM South Africa on Sunday suspended plans to inoculate its front-line health care workers with the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, after a small clinical trial suggested that it isn't effective in preventing mild to moderate illness from the variant dominant in the country, The Associated Press reports. South Africa got its first 1 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine last week and was expected to begin giving shots to health care workers in mid-February. On Saturday, the British drugmaker said the vaccine appeared to offer only limited protection against mild disease caused by the South African variant of COVID-19. A study from South Africa's University of the Witwatersrand and Oxford University showed the vaccine had significantly reduced efficacy against the South African variant. South African Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said Sunday night, "The AstraZeneca vaccine appeared effective against the original strain but not against the variant. We have decided to put a temporary hold on the rollout of the vaccine. ... More work needs to be done." Scientists will study whether the AstraZeneca vaccine works against the variant to prevent death and severe disease, Mkhize said, according to AP. An Oxford University professor said last week that a vaccine against the coronavirus' new mutations should be ready by October. According to the university's Professor Andrew Pollard, who heads the team working on the vaccine, tweaking the vaccine is a relatively fast process and needs only small trials before the vaccine can be rolled out. Though studies show that existing vaccines provide some protection against the South African mutation of COVID-19, they have also showed reduced efficacy against it. https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/296421

Health Ministry fumes over Rabbi Yuval Asherov's videos warning against COVID-19 vaccine Health Ministry fights to remove videos after rabbi claims doctors 'changed the name from flu to corona.' Arutz Sheva Staff , Feb 08 , 2021 11:31 AM Israel's Health Ministry is fighting against an "alternative healer," Rabbi Yuval Hacohen Asherov, who is recommending on social media that Israelis refrain from receiving the coronavirus vaccine, Yediot Aharonot reported. Over the past several weeks, YouTube videos from Rabbi Asherov have been shared, in which he can be seen warning of the dangers of the vaccine. His videos have been widely shared, and have gained much popularity. "I really wonder where the new virus is here," Asherov said in one of his videos. "They changed the name from flu to corona. There's just a lot of fear from the doctors and the media....this kind of vaccine is like genetic engineering. With this kind of thing there could be a lot of problems. The dangers that I'm quoting from doctors include autoimmune disorders, probably among part of the population, and infertility."

Rabbi Asherov Yoni Kempinski In another video he speaks about a rare occurrence in whcih antibodies formed during the immune reaction attack the body at a later date. "If this occurs then everyone who receives the vaccine is in danger," he claimed. "They tried this one on three different types of animals - cats, mice, and monkeys. The monkeys reacted very well to the virus, the antibodies rose, but after five to seven months the monkeys began suffering from severe lung diseases and infections and they all became out of shape. There were only a few vaccines on animals and this is information that's very hidden." [This has NOT BE A RARW OCCANCE with previous mRNA vaccine attempts. – rdb] Many internet users have asked Asherov for advice regarding the vaccine, and a significant portion of them, including those with pre-existing conditions, have been answered with anti-vax tropes, although they were also told that the final decision rests with the questioner. Among the well-known figures asking Rabbi Asherov for advice was actress Orna Banai, who recently told Kan 11 that she did not get vaccinated, among other things due to what she heard from Rabbi Asherov. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has said that it is working to get Rabbi Asherov's videos and information removed, and that in the coming week, a new site will go live, debunking the myths and false claims about the coronavirus vaccine. [This sounds all to familiar – shut down any opposing views. – rdb] A representative for Rabbi Asherov responded: "The rabbi has many years of experience successfully treating thousands of patients with various conditions, by using natural healing. We will emphasize: The rabbi does not present himself as a doctor. However, most of his life has been dedicated to reading medical research, learning, and finding life-saving treatments. His words represent his opinion and rich professional experience, and are not intended as a substitute for medical advice." https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/296440 [Me thinks the rabbi is on to the truth. – rdb] To be removed from this News list, Please click here and put "Unsubscribe" in the subject line.                        
