SY-2021-2022: Grammar School Classroom Teacher

Austin Classical School is seeking teachers for Kindergarten through 4th grade classrooms. Grammar School teachers teach on-campus on Mondays and Wednesdays and hold virtual office hours (a 2 hour block) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Responsibilities: ● Create a joyful, grace-filled environment where students enjoy learning together. ● Engage students in age-appropriate, grammar-level, classical instruction. ● Assess students both formally and informally and reflect results in their quarterly grade reports. ● Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom, taking care of curricula and equipment belonging to ACS. ● Encourage students to uphold the school-wide READ expectations with regards to classroom behavior. ● Communicate consistently, truthfully and graciously with co-teaching parents. ● Work as a team with fellow staff members; must be willing to collaborate. ● Assist in developing lesson plans as needed for both on-campus and homeschool days that meaningfully integrate across the curriculum. ● Participate in a training cohort with all first-year Grammar School teachers. ● Perform other duties as directed by school administration.

On-Campus Time Requirements: ● Summer faculty training days will be held: June 15-16, July 13, and August 4-6. Meetings with parents and students will be held the week of August 9. ● On-campus instructional days are Mondays and Wednesdays, 7:45a-4p, through the calendar school year (August 16, 2020-May 25, 2021). ● Monthly faculty meetings are held one Friday of each month (except March) from 9a-1p. ● There are 2 parent/teacher conference dates (Sept and Feb), a spring field trip (March), and a school- wide program (April). Salary for the position ranges from $15,000-$17,000 depending upon relevant experience. Teachers are paid monthly August through May.

About Austin Classical School: ACS is a classical, Christian, collaborative school that currently serves families with pre-Kindergarten through 9th grade students. Grammar students are on-campus two days per week being taught by professional educators, and on remaining weekdays, they are at home completing assigned schoolwork under the guidance of their co-teaching parent.
