Red River Ranger District FIRE INFORMATION September 2, 2015 – 10:00 a.m.

The big news for area residents is the downgrade from evacuation Level 2 to Level 1 in the City, Newsome and Red River areas. Mallard Creek and Cook Ranches remain at Level 3. No new fires were reported on the Red River Ranger District Tuesday. None of the fires remaining under District management showed active fire behavior Wednesday. Personnel monitoring the 120-acre Deadwood Fire near Summit Flats said it did not put up any smoke. Neither the Slaughter Fire (100-150 acres), burning west of Concord in the Gospel Hump Wilderness, nor the Rattlesnake Fire (1,350 acres) in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness gained any significant acreage. The -Clearwater National Forest (except the Palouse Ranger District) remains CLOSED to entry. The Forest Service is evaluating any possible options to lift the closure. In the meantime, homeowners are free to come and go to private property; however, homeowners accessing areas with fire on the landscape are asked to contact Josh Bransford (or his deputy) at the District Office (208-842-2245) in order to let the firefighters on the ground know of their presence. For questions relating to other people crossing the road block on Highway 14, please refer them to the County Sheriff’s office at 208-983-1100. Other fires on the District are being managed by the Red Team, a national incident management team, and are reported under the Selway Complex. Those fires include: Baldy, Crown, Lone Park, Noble, and Little Green Fires, along with the Wash Fire north of Elk City on the Creek Ranger District.
