As a show of gratitude to our dedicated contributors, this report lists all of the individuals and companies who have been a part of our 2017–2018 campaign. In addition, you’ll find detailed information about the goals our political programs have been able to achieve thus far and a comprehensive summary of the legislative and political priorities MBA’s advocacy team has been working to achieve at this point. In 2017 alone, MORPAC raised over $933,000 in individual donations getting us closer to our two-year cycle goal of $2.25 million by end of 2018. MORPAC is funded entirely through voluntary contributions from people like you. Every MORPAC contributor has joined a team of dedicated industry professionals that drive and support the real estate finance industry. While MORPAC is an essential advocacy tool that supports the election and re-election of federal candidates who have an understanding of the real estate finance industry, the Mortgage Action Alliance (MAA) is our best way to educate policymakers at the federal and state level on issues that impact our members. Under the leadership of MAA Chairman Gene Lugat, MAA grew by 50% in 2017 to over 23,000 active members and counting. We had more than 1,900 downloads of the new MAA mobile app within five months of launch and saw a 218% increase in communications to Congress. In fact, our advocates sent over 30,000 letters to 98% of Senate offices and 94% of House offices on key issues throughout the year. With our industry undergoing rapid growth and change driven by the legislative and regulatory environment, it’s up to us to make our voices heard in the political arena. I hope you will take time to review the report and continue to stay involved with MBA’s Advocacy Programs and fight for our industry. Many thanks for your leadership and commitment to MORPAC, our industry, and our members. Sincerely, Rick Arvielo CEO, New American Funding 2017–2018 MORPAC Chairman MORPAC 2017 YEAR-END REPORT PAGE 3 MORPAC FUNDRAISING METRICS Since January 2017, MORPAC has raised over $1.1 million IN PERSONAL CONTRIBUTIONS SO FAR IN THE 2017–2018 CYCLE.
