The administrative board comprises the following White Panthers: Panther White, Chairman John Sinclair, Minister of Information Pun Plamondon, Minister of Defense Rob Tyner, Minister of Culture Wayne Kramer, Fred Smith, Michael Davis, Dennis Thompson, Ministers of V'ar J.C. Crawford, Minister of Religion Skip Taube, Minister of Education Bob Rudnick/Dennis Frawley, Ministers of Propaganda (East Coast) Peter Werbe, Minister of Propaganda (Midwest) Gary Grimshaw, Minister of Art (in exile) Jerry Younkins, Minister of Survival Underground, Minister of Foreign Affairs Steve Harnadek, National Captain Genie Plamondon, Corresponding Secretary Joshua Newton, Demolitions Expert Brother Larry Belcher, National P.O.W. Captain In their first formal meeting the Committee discussed matters of immediate Importance to the White Panthers and to the world, including the threatened im­ prisonment of Brother Eldridge Cleaver, Minister of Information, Black Panther ^ and the arrest and imprisonment of 13 brothers and sisters in Detroit for alleged "conspiracy to place explosives with intent to cause damage." The Committee offered a special round of tokes dedicated to Eldridge Cleaver and the strength he has demonstrated in his stunning escape from the mother country police forces, A second round was offered in solidarity with the powerful brother, "where - ever he may be." The Committee then dedicated itself to increasing the White Panther attack on all fronts in order to possibly short-circuit any future attempts on brothers' lives. "We can't tolerate this bullshit any longer," Sinclair said in a prepared state- m°nt. "The shit is really out in the open now and it's starting to stink real bad. If Eldridge Cleaver or any brother is fucked with any further we will be forced to r-':op up our assault on the pig-death culture until the pigs can't stand it. We have been shown no mercy and we will grant none until all harassment of all citizens is -d and the brontosaraus capitalist economy smashed to smithereens. We mean it we are tired of this shit from the honkies and so are millions of young brothers ano .cisters all over the planet. We will not rest until it is stopped. "The problem is getting more serious every minute, and we are responding to the i-icreased pressure of the power structure by building a dangerous power structure of our own. Panther Ministers have been meeting with spokesmen of a number of tribes or radicals and maniacs and will be moving to establish direct and concrete alliances with as many groups as possible, all over the planet. A ten-man guerrilla reconnaissance *-eom will be sent out from our national headquarters in Ann Arbor to meet with people in Boston, Cleveland, and New York City in the next two weeks. The spearhead of this attack will be the MC5, who have scheduled engagements at the Boston Tea Party ^December 12-lU), the Cleveland Grande (December 20-21), and the Fillmore East ^December 26) in New York City in order to get the Panther message to the people in those cities. Minister of Defense Pun Plamondon, Minister of Religion J.C. Crawford, >.Taticnal Captain Steve Harnadek and myself will accompany the brothers in the band, and we will all be looking forward to meeting with militant brothers and sisters wherever we go." Plans are also being made for the first national Zenta revival in New York City "etween Christmas and New Years'. A heavy contingent of Panther officers will be in the city and will meet with freeks from all over the country to discuss plans and programs for the coming year. Specific details of this important meeting will be re­ leased in the next two weeks. Brothers and sisters all over the country are urged to consider attending this monster get-together and toke-down. The meeting has tentatively >>een set for New Years' Day at 597 Broadway in the first New York Zenta colony. The Committee also discussed the case of the 13 brothers and sisters in Detroit wr.o were arrested for "conspiracy to place explosives with intent to do damage," a Y-ogus political move by the city of Detroit. All of the accused have been released on bond (up to $10,000) with the exception of brother David Valler, who is still in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $11,000 bond, and brother Ron Pierce, whose bond i? ',T.il"V at $25,000. Brother Pierce was offered a lower bond by honkie judge Thomas Poindexter if he would cut his hair, but the brother told the judge to get fucked. A defense committee has been formed and is gathering bread to help the accused t'l^ht their case. The Defense Committee is headed by Detroit Minister of Propaganda Fcter Werbe and Detroit Captain Alan Gotkin, care of the Fifth Estate newspaper, MC7 W. Warren, Detroit, Michigan U8201. A series of benefits are being planned for .' rcember and January, and local Panther bands will be playing to raise money for brothers and sisters in the case..

But their tactics backfired on them and today the Black Panther Party is the most respected of the revolutionary groups in Amerika, and also the most feared by the Pigs. The White Panther Party will grow and become stronger and more together than ever before. John Sinclair had a dream for this world, a dream where mankind could live together as brothers and not want for anything. A world where there was truly "freedom and justice for all," and out of this dream came the community known as Trans-tove, and out of Trans-Love came the White Panthers, and from the White Pantbeps- and all of the other revolutionary groups in this country, this dream will become reality, and the dreams of Jefferson, Thoreau, Mao, Che, Huey, and Eldridge will come to pass also.

Wayne Kramer is not someone who normally seems into beaming—his image is a little more ferocious than that. But onstage during the second night of the DKT-MC5 tour in Chicago, Kramer busted loose a big fat grin and started jumping up and down at one point. Back in the MC5 days, the band was known for its energetic, physical shows. Having never seen them live, I don't know if they ever jumped for pure joy back then, but that's clearly what Kramer was doing that night. The reunion of the surviving members of the MC5 (guitarist Kramer, bassist Michael Davis and drummer Dennis Thompson)—along with resurrections of the Stooges and the New York Dolls—is showing a renewed interest in these progenitors of punk rock. "It's surprising to me and it should be surprising to Iggy and those guys how much influence and affect our two bands have had on music now," Davis said. "I'm kind of in awe of it. We've had this kind of effect. By presenting the work of a collective which in its members included two of the most prominent representatives of the contemporary californian art scene – Mike Kelley and Jim Shaw – Hungry for Death acts as a prelude to the next major exhibition produced by DEPART Foundation featuring the Los Angeles art scene: titled California Dreaming, the show will be curated by Michael Ned Holte e Aram Moshayed and will open in Rome during the spring 2011. Hungry For Death celebrates the vision of Destroy All Monsters through an exhibition that showcases posters, flyers, photographs, blueprints, drawings, banners, magazines, records, and various other ephemera culled from the collective's archive. Hungry for Death emphasizes material produced in the 70s and following the original collective's reunion in 1996. Formed at a house party in 1973, Destroy All Monsters played their first gig at a comic book convention—where they were asked to leave after ten minutes—using prepared guitars, a drum machine, tape loops, and various other instruments to create an unorthodox sound of suburban dystopian psyche music that was equal parts Stooges, Albert Ayler, Sun Ra, Velvet Underground, and Sci-Fi B-movie shtick. Operating in this capacity through 1976, the band's music was accompanied by performances and films as well as a magazine of the same name (which Loren edited through 1979), consisting mostly of collages and prints inspired by sci-fi movies, underground music, political subcultures, and iconic elements of 60s counterculture as it had filtered through to the collective's hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Detroit Rock & Roll by Ben Edmonds For our purposes, the story of Detroit rock & roll begins on September 3, 1948, when a little-known local performer named John Lee Hooker entered United Sound Studios for his first recording session. Rock & roll was still an obscure rhythm & blues catchphrase, certainly not yet a musical genre, and Hooker's career trajectory had been that of the standard-issue bluesman. "The Motor City it was then, with the factories and everything, and the money was flowing," Hooker told biographer Charles Shaar Murray." All the cars were being built there. Detroit was the city then. Work, work, work, work. Plenty work, good wages, good money at that time."1 He worked many of those factories, Ford and General Motors among them, and at night he plied the craft of the bluesman in bars, social clubs and at house parties. But John Lee Hooker was no ordinary bluesman, and the song he cut at the tail of his first session, "Boogie Chillen," was no ordinary blues. Accompanied only by the stomp of his right foot, his acoustic guitar hammered an insistent pattern, partially based on boogie-woogie piano, that Hooker said he learned from his stepfather back in Mississippi as "country boogie." Informed by the urgency and relentless drive of his Detroit assembly line experiences, John Lee's urban guitar boogie would become a signature color on the rock & roll palette, as readily identifiable as Bo Diddley's beat or Chuck Berry's ringing chords.
