First, the terminolo- gy in this section of Synthesis cannot be taken as fixed, either in regard to planes of consciousness or in relation to later writings by Sri Aurobindo or the Mother, and so one should not state dogmatically that a specific characteristic applies to a specific plane of consciousness.
