  • Soldier Testimonies from Hebron, 2008-2010
Breaking the Silence Soldiers' Testimonies from Hebron 2008-2010 Breaking the Silence BREAKING THE SILENCE Soldiers' Testimonies from Hebron 2008-2010 … I’ll tell you that within a very short time I began to feel that I was much busier protecting Arabs from the Jewish settlers than protecting Jewish settlers from the Arabs. How is that manifested on the ground? I don’t know what Hamas does inside Hebron, but whenever there was tension in the mixed neighborhoods, or mixed streets, I never witnessed a situation where Arabs harassed Jews. I mean, there was no violence on the part of Arabs, they didn’t harass the Jews. I think this was mainly out of fear. Because whoever was there before us handled them very roughly. The Jews, however, would really drive the Arabs crazy. They’d throw diapers full of shit into their gardens, throw their garbage into their yards. If an Arab kid was walking in the street and ran into three Jewish kids, they would beat him up or just harass him and all. There were lots of such harassments. Breaking the Silence www.breakingthesilence.org.il This booklet contains the testimonies of about 40 Israeli soldiers who served in the city of Hebron between 2008 and 2010. With this collection, we aim to portray the military occupation in Hebron during periods of “normalcy”, of which an understanding is of utmost importance. In the absence of political prospects, the occupation in Hebron and other locations operates as a stable rule, itself unlimited in time, yet exacting severe limitations on those Palestinians who are forced to live under it.

Tuesday, March 3, 2015 Submitted by: John Napier Tye, Legal Director Avaaz Foundation 857 Broadway, 3rd Floor New York, NY 10003 The Hebron Fund: Request to the Internal Revenue Service to Revoke Tax- Exempt Status 1. Overview: The IRS Should Investigate Whether The Hebron Fund Is Abusing the U.S. Tax Code Donations to Israeli settlers in the ancient city of Hebron in the West Bank are not considered charitable or tax-deductible -- by the government of Israel.1 But the U.S. Internal Revenue Service has a different idea. The Hebron Fund2 -- a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation based in Brooklyn, New York -- tells the IRS that its mission is “social and educational well being.”3 In fact the Hebron Fund is ineligible for U.S. tax-exempt status because there is reason to believe that, directly and/or indirectly, it supports as a substantial part of its activities: 1. military and paramilitary activity 2. criminal activity including assault, battery, vandalism and criminal trespass 1 https://secured.israeltoremet.org//donate/makedonation?MakeDonation=1&AmutaGovId=580035319&md event= 2 https://hebronfund.org/ . • Al-Haq Report on Killings in 2019
Israeli airstrikes over Gaza city on Sunday, 5 May 2019 – Al-Haq (c) 2019 Al-Haq Report on Killings in 2019 1. Introduction Israel’s unlawful policies and practices against Palestinians continued throughout 2019, including impunity for violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, for wilful killing. In 2019, 137 Palestinians, including 28 children, were killed due to Israel’s discriminatory, institutional and systematic policies and practices, which aim to repress and control the Palestinian population, through inter alia, unnecessary, disproportionate and excessive use of force and the lack of effective accountability and protection from settler violence. Further, four Palestinian political prisoners died due to Israel’s policy of medical neglect. Of the 137 Palestinians who were killed in 2019, two were Palestinian civilians who were killed by Israeli settlers, and the remaining 135 Palestinians were killed by the Israeli Occupying Forces (IOF). In at least two cases, the IOF hampered Palestinian attempts to evacuate the wounded before they died, in violation of international law standards. In 2019, a total of 35 Palestinians were killed in the context of the Great Return March (GRM) protests. Of these, 20 Palestinians were killed after the Report of the United Nations Commission of Inquiry on the 2018 protests in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT) had been released on 22 March 2019. Further, Israel launched two military offensives on the Gaza Strip in 2019, killing 25 Palestinians in the first offensive, which took place from 3 May 2019 until 5 May 2019, and 34 Palestinians in the second, which also lasted three days from 12 November 2019 until 14 November 2019.
