DIVERSITY NEWSLETTER tWO Hispanic Market Test NASCAR Diversity Affairs is launching a Hispanic Market Test in partnership with Chicagoland Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway, and Homestead-Miami Speedway. The first segment of the test programs will be in Chicago and will launch in conjunction with the start of The Chase and Hispanic Heritage Month. The Hispanic Market Test is a two-step program in each of the three markets. The first step of the program consists of marketing and promotional initiatives to drive awareness of the sport and encourage ticket sales within the Hispanic market. The second step consists of at-track elements to enhance a first time visitor experience at the track. TV & Radio Spot As part of our partnership with the tracks, NASCAR has produced a TV spot that features Latin American drivers from NASCAR National series. Participants in the commercial include team owner, Felix Sabates, and drivers Juan Pablo Montoya, Aric Almirola, Miguel Paludo, and Sergio Peña. Each of the tracks added a custom tag at the end encouraging fans to attend their race weekend and experience the sport first hand. In addition to the TV spot, NASCAR also produced a Spanish language radio spot. Dedicated Spanish Number and Landing Page TRACK PHONE # LANDING PAGE Chicago 877.691.7223 www.chicagolandspeedway.com/bienvenidos Phoenix 866.498.7223 www.phoenixraceway.com/bienvenidos Miami 866.549.7223 www.homesteadmiamispeedway/bienvenidos Each of the tracks has created a dedicated Spanish language phone line and landing page. When Hispanic fans call the number, they are met with on-hold messages in Spanish, and bilingual sales staff. The landing pages will have ticket information as well as information about the events happening at track. Brand Ambassadors In an effort to create a more welcoming, fan friendly environment at track, bilingual brand ambassadors will be available throughout each of the race weekends. We have created booths with the “Bienvenidos a NASCAR” logo in order to make the stations easy to spot. These brand ambassadors will be essential in ensuring first time visitors experience everything that a race weekend has to offer. Virtual Garage Tour For the first time ever, NASCAR fans will be able to gain inside access to the garage and pit row through a virtual tour. Fans will be able to pick up a booklet (like the pictured here), that will include copy in both English and Spanish. Each booklet will have QR codes that can be scanned using a smart phone. The tour has 9 stops that you can access by scanning the QR codes in the book, or by walking through the garage and using the map as a guide to find the booths with the codes. Once you scan the QR codes, you will be taken to a landing page where you have the option to watch the video in English or Spanish. Spanish Race Broadcast Spanish speaking fans will be able to hear the race broadcast in Spanish through the race scanners. There will be a dedicated channel for fans to tune in and hear the live broadcast during the race. This will help a new fan understand what is happening during the race and will enhance the seasoned fan’s experience. NASCAR Sponsorship: Who is the Real Winner? An event study proposal A thesis submitted to the Miami University Honors Program in partial fulfillment of the requirements for University Honors with Distinction by Meredith Seurkamp May 2006 Oxford, Ohio ii ABSTRACT NASCAR Sponsorship: Who is the Real Winner? An event study proposal by Meredith Seurkamp This paper investigates the costs and benefits of NASCAR sponsorship. Sports sponsorship is increasing in popularity as marketers attempt to build more personal relationships with their consumers. These sponsorships range from athlete endorsements to the sponsorship of an event or physical venue. These types of sponsorships have a number of costs and benefits, as reviewed in this paper, and the individual firm must use its discretion whether sports sponsorship coincides with its marketing goals. NASCAR, a sport that has experienced a recent boom in popularity, is one of the most lucrative sponsorship venues in professional sports. NASCAR, which began as a single race in 1936, now claims seventy-five million fans and over one hundred FORTUNE 500 companies as sponsors. NASCAR offers a wide variety of sponsorship opportunities, such as driver sponsorship, event sponsorship, track signage, and a number of other options. This paper investigates the fan base at which these marketing messages are directed. Research of NASCAR fans indicates that these fans are typically more brand loyal than the average consumer. NASCAR fans exhibit particular loyalty to NASCAR sponsors that financially support the auto racing sport. The paper further explains who composes the NASCAR fan base and how NASCAR looks to expand into additional markets.

Hand qualified the No. 01 Ford EcoBoost Riley on the pole, earning his first pole with CGRFS and Ford’s first pole of the 2015 season. Hand gained a five-second lead on the field shortly into the 2 hour, 40 minute race. The first full- course caution flew for a car in the wall in Turn 11 of the 4-mile road course. Hand brought the No. 01 in under yellow for tires and fuel, and the crew took a few extra seconds to determine why the car was beginning to slow on course. Hand restarted at the back of the field but raced cleanly and steadily in an effort to catch the rest of the Prototype field. Hand passed 15 cars and was running a second faster than the leaders by time he caught up with the rest of the Prototype field. Hand brought the No. 01 in for a driver change and Pruett got behind the wheel with 40 laps to go. Shortly after taking control of the No. 01, Pruett turned the quickest lap of the race with a time of 1:57.464.

  • 2020 Marketing Information
2020 MARKETING INFORMATION Pictured: 2019 CARS Tour Old North State Nationals WHAT IS THE CARS TOUR? The CARS Tour was formed out of the former USAR Hooters ProCup Series, long considered the premiere short track development series in the 2000s for drivers looking to advance their careers to the upper levels of NASCAR. Because so many CARS Tour competitors have dreams of competing in NASCAR, the cars raced in the CARS Tour closely resemble the racers seen in NASCAR except with less expensive technology and rules to control costs. The CARS Tour hosts two types of popular pavement short track racing divisions, with most being held as dual division events. This allows fans to catch the action of both the Super Late Model and Late Model Stock divisions racing at the same track on the same night, for the price of just one ticket. Late model stock cars, a machine from which the NASCAR Xfinity Series cars originated in the 1980s and is still popular in the southeast today, weigh in at over 3100 lbs, teaching drivers car control and momentum as they advance their career. The super late model cars boast nearly 600 horsepower and weigh in at less than 2800 lbs, the true speed demons of short track racing where drivers learn to handle large amounts of horsepower. The CARS Tour has attracted teams from across the motorsports industry, including teams competing annually owned by NASCAR notables Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kyle Busch. In addition the tour has grown on loyal veteran short track drivers that fans have grown accustom to.
