ArchitonicsIn the classic fitted kitchen there are only two solutions, as the worktop is neglected. The innovative bulthaup b3 kitchen system and its practical function boxes, however, provide solutions that make the best possible use of this previously neglected area, the space between the worktop and the wall unit. These function boxes provide storage for spices, oil and vinegar, kitchen tools, knives and small containers. In other words, everything you need to have on hand when preparing or serving food, cooking and cleaning. These function boxes conceal their contents behind easycare glass fronts and offer excellent access when their doors are opened. The doors can be opened either completely or just halfway. In contrast to sliding doors, where one side is always hidden away, this solution keeps everything in view. There are function boxes for all manner of uses that can be planned to suit individual needs. They are 60 cm wide, 63 cm tall and 12 cm deep. interior depth 10 cm. Wing lights with fluorescent tubes are integrated, offering excellent illumination, a long service life and superlative energy efficiency. It is positioned high enough to enable even bulky crockery to be rinsed easily and tall pots to be filled with water. Its mechanical parts are situated in the box under glass and do not need to be installed flushmounted. The reason for this is the multifunctional wall that gives the room rhythm and balance. The elements of this system can be installed wallhanging, floorstanding or footsupported, depending on how much storage space is needed. With bulthaup b3, the area between the wall and base units can be used to create even more storage space, with functional boxes accommodating kitchen utensils or spices. The kitchen space therefore becomes the living space, which can be fluidly continued into other areas as required, such as the living room. The b3 multifunction wall liberates the kitchen and becomes itself the determining factor in the room’s architecture. The wall conceals water, electricity, and gas pipes and allows cabinets to appear as though they are floating. It becomes active, as functional as it is beautiful, and can merge the kitchen and living space together to form a single unit. The variety of timeless finishes stretch from stainless steel, aluminium, laminate and lacquer to fine wood, providing many different combinations. Every bulthaup b3 living space is unique. This is illustrated by its architectural independence and the limitless possibilities for expressing personal style. Its beauty and flexibility allows us to embrace the concept of the kitchen as part of the living space. Not only does this system allow you to have beautiful wall panels in a variety of finishes but also supports the cabinets and conceals water, electricity and gas pipes. Its beauty and flexibility allows us to embrace the concept of the kitchen as part of the living space. Not only does this system allow you to have beautiful wall panels in a variety of finishes but also supports the cabinets and conceals water, electricity and gas pipes. We’d love to help you with your home renovations. The elements of this system can be installed wallhung, floorstanding or footsupported, depending on how much storage space is needed.Aesthetically the wall panels accentuate horizontal lines and can be suspended with or without shelves in all front surfaces offered in the b3 system. Functionally, the 12mm gap between the panels creates a mechanism for suspending functional elements e.g. bulthaup cookbook holders, knife blocks, shelves and more on the wall. Users can change, remove and reorganize drawer organizational components and accessories over time to best meet their evolving needs and create personalized “collages of life.” This bulthaup b3 kitchen is in a manor house that was originally built hundreds of years ago on the Danish island of Fyn. The gentle grain of the solid oak fronts, just 13 mm thick, on the kitchen island and cabinets accentuate the homes warm atmosphere.

These support the concept of Tangible User Interfaces (TUIs), a genre of human-computer interaction that uses spatially reconfigurable physical objects as representations and controls for digital information. The thesis supports the manipulation of information aggregates through systems of physical tokens and constraints. In these interfaces, physical tokens act as containers and parameters for referencing digital information elements and aggregates. Physical constraints are then used to map structured compositions of tokens onto a variety of computational interpretations.
