Genesis Martial Arts MMA system contains a blend of fighting styles to fully develop striking, clinching, takedowns and . We believe in mastering the basics of technique through drills, to have the ability to flow from one position to another and to escape with skill from upper and lower body submissions.

Whatever style or system a practitioner follows it is important to know at least a little about the history of your chosen style that you practice, and to always remain open minded.

Jujitsu Jujitsu, the predecessor of and , is the oldest of the . Unlike Judo, which emphasizes sport, is an aggressive form of self defence consisting of; Disabling kicks or strikes to vital points, locks or grips to incapacitate the opponent (or to cause dislocation or fracture), strangulations, pushes, pulls and finally throws to bring the opponent into a position where he is rendered immobile. Ideally, all these manoeuvres employ the principle of using the opponent's weight and momentum, and of retreating, and sidestepping to bring him off balance. Throughout the long and glorious reign of the samurai, schools of Jujutsu flourished all over Japan. Kickboxing today covers a range of styles within itself, from ‘Points Fighting’, to ‘Light Contact’, ‘Full contact’, ‘’ and even ‘Aero Kick’.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Popularly known as cage fighting, MMA is a full contact sport that allows a wide variety of fighting techniques and skills, from a mixture of other combat sports, to be used in competitions. The rules allow the use of both striking as well as grappling techniques, both while standing and while on the ground. Such competitions allow fighters of different backgrounds to compete.

The roots of modern can be traced back to various mixed style contests that took place throughout Europe, Japan and the Pacific Rim during the early 1900s.
