    Union Depot Tower Interlocking Plant

Union Depot Tower Union Depot Tower (U.D. Tower) was completed in 1914 as part of a municipal project to improve rail transportation through Joliet, which included track elevation of all four railroad lines that went through downtown Joliet and the construction of a new passenger station to consolidate the four existing passenger stations into one. A result of this overall project was the above-grade intersection of 4 north-south lines with 4 east-west lines. The crossing of these rail lines required sixteen track diamonds. A diamond is a fixed intersection between two tracks. The purpose of UD Tower was to ensure and coordinate the safe and timely movement of trains through this critical intersection of east-west and north-south rail travel. UD Tower housed the mechanisms for controlling the various rail switches at the intersection, also known as an interlocking plant. Interlocking Plant Interlocking plants consisted of the signaling appliances and tracks at the intersections of major rail lines that required a method of control to prevent collisions and provide for the efficient movement of trains. Most interlocking plants had elevated structures that housed mechanisms for controlling the various rail switches at the intersection. Union Depot Tower is such an elevated structure. Tower was owned and operated by the four rail companies with lines that came through downtown Joliet.

  • December 2020 Project Management Oversight Report

December 2020 Project Management Oversight Report

Project Management Oversight December 2020 REPORT ON PROJECT MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT – DECEMBER 2020 Executive Summary This semi‐annual Report on Project Management Oversight details Service Board efforts in implementing their capital programs. Included are details on all state‐funded projects, regardless of budget, and all systemwide projects with budgets of $10 million or more, regardless of funding source. Information in this report was collected by direct , interviews project meetings, and documented submissions from Service Board project management teams. The RTA’s 2018‐2023 Regional Transit Strategic Plan, Invest in Transit, highlights $30 billion of projects that are needed to maintain and modernize the region’s transit network. To maintain and preserve the current system in a State of Good Repair (SGR), as well as address the backlog of deferred SGR projects, requires a capital investment of $2 to $3 billion per year. The Rebuild Illinois funding is planned to expedite overdue repair and replacement projects, reduce the backlog of deferred improvements, and move the system toward a state of good repair. It nearly doubles the previous five‐year regional capital program of $4.3 billion. The funds enable real progress on the state of good repair, by allowing improvements and in some cases replace aging system assets. Although this has been a difficult year due to operating funding shortfalls related to COVID‐19, the Service Boards are continuing with the implementation of their capital programs. This report includes, for the first time, 13 Rebuild Illinois projects representing $655 million in Rebuild Illinois funding. The 13 projects reported on have begun during this reporting period and have ongoing activities.

Welcome to the South Shore Line (SSL) Commuter Rail Service Serving Northwest Indiana and Northeast Illinois

! Welcome to the South Shore Line (SSL) commuter rail service serving Northwest Indiana and Northeast Illinois. The SSL serves a total of 19 stations, of which 13 are wheelchair-accessible. On weekdays the SSL runs 43 trains, and on weekends and holidays it runs 20 trains. South Bend Airport The South Bend Airport is the easternmost station along the South Shore Line. The boarding platform is a high-level platform allowing for wheelchair accessibility. There is a ticket agent at this station with limited availability (Fridays 6:05 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and weekends 6:05 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.). Ticket vending machines are available to the north of the ticket agent windows. Paid parking is available through the South Bend Airport. South Bend Transpo bus service provides additional stops at the South Bend Airport at the opposite end of the terminal from the South Shore Line station for those needing connecting service. Click here for Transpo routes and fares. Additional bus/taxi services can be found by clicking here. Hudson Lake The Hudson Lake Station is a low-level boarding station and is therefore not wheelchair- accessible. This is a flag stop station so a button must be pressed (5 minutes before departure time) to activate the strobe light that would indicate to trains to stop for passenger pickup. Passengers who wish to depart the train at this station should notify their conductor at the time they are collecting tickets. There are no ticket vending machines available to purchase tickets at this station so tickets must be purchased on the app or with cash from a conductor.

    Macy Home Store Update 10-17-06

Macy’s North and Macy’s Midwest Home Store Update October 18, 2006 Dear Home Store Vendor, As you know, Macy's Home Store has been working toward improving our customer shopping experience and marketing support for the Home Store. We have been focusing on integrating the 275 former May Company stores into the Macy's Home Store operation. This is a very complex process and with that in mind we have decided to delay the integration of the Macy’s North (MNO) and Macy's Midwest (MMW) Home Store departments until spring of 2008. We will continue to run the existing Home business from MNO and MMW until spring 2008, at which time all Home Store departments will be purchased through the Home Store division (MCH). The store listings as well as the EDI qualifier IDs have been updated to reflect these changes. As always, throughout our integration process the purchase order (PO) is your guide as to when, where and how you are to ship the merchandise. Your inbound EDI ASN (856) and invoice (810) must be sent to the corresponding mailbox from which the original EDI PO (850) was generated, regardless of the ship window. As part of the conversion, which is effective February 4, 2007, MNO and MMW will be realigning their department numbers, including home departments, to reflect the current Federated department structure. Be aware that purchase orders for MNO and MMW may be received from the new Federated Sender/Receiver IDs as soon as October 30. MNO and MMW may also issue purchase orders from the current May systems with ship dates after the February 4, 2007 conversion.
