FORESHORE AND SEA-BED (RECLAMATIONS) ORDINANCE (Chapter 127) (Notification under section 5) PROPOSED ASIA-AMERICA GATEWAY (AAG) SUBMARINE CABLE NETWORK FROM , TO SOUTHERN BOUNDARY OF THE SPECIAL ADMINISTRATIVE REGION Notice is hereby given that the undertaking described in the Schedule below is proposed. A copy of the plan delineating and describing the proposed undertaking and the foreshore and sea-bed to be affected thereby has been prepared and may be inspected by the public free of charge at the Lands Department Survey and Mapping Office, 23rd Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong (where copies can be purchased on order); at the Office, 20th Floor, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central, Hong Kong and at the Sub-office, Islands District Office, Ground Floor, Mui Wo Government Offices, 2 Ngan Kwong Wan Road, Mui Wo, Lantau Island during the following hours:— Lands Department Survey and Mapping Office Monday to Friday 8.45 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays closed Islands District Office Monday to Friday 8.45 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays closed Mui Wo Sub-office, Islands District Office Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, closed Sundays and Public Holidays Further queries regarding the proposed works can be addressed to the District Lands Office, Islands, 19th Floor, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central, Hong Kong (Telephone No.: 2852 4265). Any person who considers that he has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed so described may, by notice in writing delivered to the Director of Lands, 20th Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong before the expiration of two months from the date of this notice, object to the proposed undertaking. The notice of objection shall describe the interest, right or easement of the objector and the manner in which he alleges he will be affected. SCHEDULE Description of the undertaking and the manner in which the foreshore and sea-bed will be Foreshore and sea-bed affected affected by the proposed undertaking Approximately 0.5 hectare of foreshore and The proposed cable system includes two cables; sea-bed starting from Tong Fuk, Lantau one cable leading from the existing manhole at Island and extending southwards up to the Tong Fuk Beach and another, with two Hong Kong Special Administrative Region associated earth cables, from the existing (HKSAR) boundary as delineated and shown manhole in the south-west of Tong Fuk Village. in bold black lines on a plan, numbered Both cables each of approximately 10 kilometres ISM1447a, deposited in the Land Registry. in length will extend southwards up to the sea beyond the boundary of HKSAR waters to connect with the rest of AAG submarine cable network which extends to the South China Sea. Description of the undertaking and the manner in which the foreshore and sea-bed will be Foreshore and sea-bed affected affected by the proposed undertaking Only small-scale excavation works will be required on the cable landing sections in order to enable the cables to enter the existing manholes. The offshore cable laying will be buried by injection jetting techniques which is similar to the previous cable installations in this area. The intended burial depth for the offshore burial of the cables will be approximately 7 metres below sea-bed with a shallower burial depth of about 2 metres from the manholes to approximately 400 metres off-shore. The total distance for the two alignments and earths is approximately 20 kilometres, and each cable will be buried in a narrow trench of approximately 0.25 metre in width along each route. The area of foreshore and sea-bed affected is shown on the plan on the next page for identification purposes only.
