It sure seemed weird driving by The Midwest Raceway Park and knowing that the horse track is RACING the only race track left in Shakopee. Connection Racing According February, 2014 Anyway, back to the racing at Canterbury Park. to Plan Tucker Hibbert showed why he is leading the points P.O. Box 22111 on the ISOC tour this year, sweeping the weekend as St. Paul MN, 55122 651-451-4036 he captured both the Friday and Saturday night main www.theracingconnection.com events. Hibbert also broke the career win total held th by Blair “Superman” Morgan with his 85 tour win. Publisher He’s like the Jimmy Johnson of Snowmobiles, or Dan Plan Snowmachines as Ms. Palin would say. Contributing Writers Now I’m sure equipment plays a factor in Snocross Shane Carlson just like any other motorsport activity, but this guy Dale P. Danielski sure seems like he simply out-drove a number of his Eric Huenefeld competitors. The home town team of Hentges racing, Kris Peterson Jason Searcy lead by Kody Kamm, gave it their best shot (maybe Dean Reller Dan Plan even an elbow or two) to keep up. -
Racing, Region, and the Environment: a History of American Motorsports
RACING, REGION, AND THE ENVIRONMENT: A HISTORY OF AMERICAN MOTORSPORTS By DANIEL J. SIMONE A DISSERTATION PRESENTED TO THE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA 2009 1 © 2009 Daniel J. Simone 2 To Michael and Tessa 3 ACKNOWLEDGMENTS A driver fails without the support of a solid team, and I thank my friends, who supported me lap-after-lap. I learned a great deal from my advisor Jack Davis, who when he was not providing helpful feedback on my work, was always willing to toss the baseball around in the park. I must also thank committee members Sean Adams, Betty Smocovitis, Stephen Perz, Paul Ortiz, and Richard Crepeau as well as University of Florida faculty members Michael Bowen, Juliana Barr, Stephen Noll, Joseph Spillane, and Bill Link. I respect them very much and enjoyed working with them during my time in Gainesville. I also owe many thanks to Dr. Julian Pleasants, Director Emeritus of the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program, and I could not have finished my project without the encouragement provided by Roberta Peacock. I also thank the staff of the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program. Finally, I will always be grateful for the support of David Danbom, Claire Strom, Jim Norris, Mark Harvey, and Larry Peterson, my former mentors at North Dakota State University. A call must go out to Tom Schmeh at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, Suzanne Wise at the Appalachian State University Stock Car Collection, Mark Steigerwald and Bill Green at the International Motor Racing Resource Center in Watkins Glen, New York, and Joanna Schroeder at the (former) Ethanol Promotion and Information Council (EPIC). -

Denny Hamlin Driver, #11 Fedex Chevrolet Monte Carlo Ss
DENNY HAMLIN DRIVER, #11 FEDEX CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO SS Birthdate : November 18, 1980 Hometown : Chesterfield, VA Resides : Davidson, NC Height : 6’0” Weight : 170lbs Marital Status : Single Favorite Driver : Bill Elliott Denny Hamlin will take the wheel of the #11 FedEx Chevrolet in 2007 looking to build on an impressive rookie season and once again challenge for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Championship. Hamlin’s rise to NASCAR’s top level has been nothing short of meteoric, considering he was driving Late Model stock cars only three years ago. In 2006, Hamlin burst on the scene with his win at the prestigious Bud Shootout at Daytona, and carried that early momentum into one of the most successful rookie campaigns in NASCAR history. On his way to becoming the first ever rookie to earn a spot in the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup, Hamlin posted his first career Nextel Cup win in dominating style at Pocono Raceway. He captured three Bud Pole awards, both Pocono stops and homecoming triumph at Richmond International Raceway. By the time Hamlin sealed the Raybestos Rookie of the Year award, he was challenging for a Nextel Cup championship, ultimately finishing third. Hamlin’s abilities were on display in the Busch Series in 2006 as well. In his second full season, Hamlin recorded two wins, 23 top-ten finishes and seven pole awards. While Hamlin now finds himself racing at the highest level of NASCAR, he has been winning races since the early age of seven when he began his career racing karts in the Junior Sportsman League. -
