3 ANNUAL BREED SHOW RULES

General rules and conditions of entry: 1 The onus of a horse being exhibited in a class is on the owner and/or exhibitor. A Judge must not judge a horse which he/she has bred, owned, sold or had any financial interest, at any time. The practice of a Judge advising on the purchase of, exhibiting, schooling or having at livery any horse(s) for someone or their immediate family and then judging any for the same owner during the current or previous year is prohibited by the Society. [Service fees for and keep for mares whilst at stud are excluded]. Judges must not knowingly judge a horse produced by a producer, owner or their immediate families for whom they have shown any horse or has shown any horse for them during the current or previous year. If there is an unforeseen change of Judge then the owner or exhibitor must stand down from the class. 2 The Judge’s decision is final. Any objections must be made in writing to the Show Secretary within 30 minutes of the class ending with a £50 cash deposit which will be forfeited if the objection is not upheld. 3 The organisers reserve the right to rearrange times, amalgamate, alter or cancel any class and adjust prize money accordingly. 4 The organisers reserve the sole right to interpret regulations, conditions and to finally settle and determine all or any matter, question or difference arising from Show Policy. 5 Horses, where appropriate, may enter more than one class but the organisers will not be responsible if clashes occur. 6 Ridden exhibits must be 4 years or over, at least 153cm (15hh) and registered in the IDHS(GB) main studbook or on the IDSH register. 7 All stock entered in the Irish Draught In Hand Breeding classes must be the progeny of a Graded Mare (ID Class 1, ID Class 2 , RID, AID, or Supplementary Grade Up Register) and be by an ID Class 1, ID Class 2 or RID(GB) on the Irish Draught Breed register. 8 All stock entered in the Irish Draught Sport Horse In Hand Breeding classes must be Graded or eligible for Class 1 on the Irish Draught Breed register or registered on the Irish Draught Sport Horse register with the exception of non ID mares in class 10. 9 Horses entered in the Maturity In Hand class must be registered in the IDHS(GB) main studbook or on the IDSH register. 10 Measurements: Horses entered in a height regulated class or competing for a special award must provide a current valid height certificate or be measured on the day (½ inch is allowed for shoes). Measurements will be conducted on Saturday between 7 45 am and 8 45 am. Any horse without a valid height certificate will not be allowed to compete. 11 Entry fee refunds may be made in cases where the animal is incapacitated by injury or illness subject to an administration fee. A Veterinary Certificate must be lodged with a written claim to the Show Secretary within seven days of the Show. There will be no refund on booked stables. 12 All horses must be in the correct ownership. OWNERS OF ALL PURE BRED IRISH DRAUGHT HORSES IN BOTH IN-HAND AND RIDDEN CLASSES MUST BE FULL MEMBERS OF THE IDHS(GB). [This rule does not apply to Owners of Irish Draught Sport Horses] 13 All competing STALLIONS must be the progeny of a Graded Mare (ID Class 1, ID Class 2, RID, AID or Supplementary Grade Up Register) by an ID Class 1, ID Class 2 or RID(GB) stallion and be inspected or overstamped by the IDHS(GB) and classified as ID Class 1, ID Class 2 or RID(GB) OR be a Registered Irish Draught Sport Horse Stallion, and MUST display a red, white and blue ribbon in their tail and a white disc on their . 14 All In Hand STALLIONS, and ONE, TWO and THREE YEAR OLD COLTS must be bitted and shown by an experienced handler of 18 years or over. 15 All riders and handlers must be 16 years or over (18 years or over for stallions and colts) 16 Tack: Bitless , running gags, Market Harboroughs, side, draw or running reins are NOT allowed in any class. The use of Swales or Sam Marsh bits and gags with double bridles are actively discouraged. Boots and martingales are not permitted in any flat ridden class but martingales are allowed in jumping classes and front boots only are permitted for the jumping phase. No tack which conceals an animal’s conformation or identifies an animal, its owner or sponsor is allowed.

ANNUAL BREED SHOW RULES continued 17 Health and Safety: The organisers accept no responsibility for accidents to spectators, competitors, animals or their property, in connection with or arising from the Show. Admission is granted and entries accepted only on recognition of this condition. The IDHS(GB) accepts no responsibility for any injury arising from any failure to comply with the Show Rules. 18 It is the sole responsibility of all riders to ensure that, whilst on horseback, they wear appropriate clothing/footwear and a correctly fitting, secured riding hat/skull cap with an integral adjustable harness complying with the minimum current European standards. These hats are compulsory for competitors aged 18 years and under, and for all competitors in the jumping phase for any class. This also applies to handlers and grooms. 19 Lunging and working in will be permitted in designated areas. NO HORSE MAY BE LUNGED ON ANY OF THE ALL WEATHER SURFACES. 20 Should any horse be regarded by the judges/stewards to compromise the safety of other competitors or spectators, they will be asked to leave the ring. 21 In ALL ridden classes, a fall of horse or rider will lead to elimination from the class. 22 Horses must move around the Showground using the horse walks at a walking pace. NO PEDESTRIANS IN HORSE WALKS. 23 Children and Dogs: Parents/Carers of children and young people under the age of 16 years are responsible for their supervision at all times while attending the Show. 24 Dogs are welcome to attend the outdoor areas of the Show but MUST be kept on a short lead at all times (NO FLEXI OR EXTENDING LEADS IN THE VICINITY OF ANY HORSE, RING, BOX/CAR PARKS OR STABLE AREA. Owners must pick up and safely dispose of any dog excrement. 25 No Smoking Policy: No smoking is allowed in the stable or any other indoor areas. 26 EXHIBITORS FAILING TO PARTICIPATE IN A CHAMPIONSHIP FOR WHICH THEY HAVE QUALIFIED WILL FORFEIT THEIR PRIZE MONEY.

The above prices for stables include a £20 refundable deposit subject to the stable being cleaned out on leaving to the satisfaction of the Stable Manager. Refunds must be collected from the Show Office. All stables will have a basic bed of shavings. No other bedding is permitted. Extra shavings are available to purchase on the Showground. There are no top doors on the stables – if your horse needs a grid, please bring your own to tie on to the door frame.

RANDOM CHECKS WILL BE MADE ON ARRIVAL. In order for any horse to compete it must have had the primary course of flu vaccinations consisting of two injections given no less than 21 days and no more than 92 days apart. The first booster is given between 150 and 215 days after the primary course and annually thereafter. We recommend giving an extra booster if the date of your last vaccination exceeds six months. Foals do not require vaccinations prior to weaning.

PURE IRISH DRAUGHTS MARE OF THE FUTURE CLASS Allington Ring B not before 1 30pm Judges: Mrs Heather Chaplin and Mr Peter Crafts This class is to be judged against the Breed Standard, the mare’s suitability for breeding foundation ID pure bred stock and her potential in future showing and/or performance classes focusing on type and conformation. Note- This is a stand-alone class [no previous qualifying classes] Class 17 Irish Draught Mare of the Future. Open to 4, 5 and 6 year old Mares that are graded as ID Class1 or ID Class 2 or eligible to be graded ID Class 1. Barren, in foal or with foal at foot and registered with the IDHS (GB). Owners to be domiciled in Great Britain The 1st prize winner will not be eligible to enter this class in the future. 9

Allington Ring A commencing at 4 00pm Judges: Ms Gillian Devenney (Ire) and Mr G O’Sullivan (Ire) Class 18 Progeny Group To be judged in hand. Assessment to include family, group, type, conformation and movement. Conditions of Entry: 1. All entries must be identified on the IDHS (GB) or IDHS registers 2. For Health and safety reasons Stallions and Colts older than 1year may not compete. 3. The group may consist of three pure breds, three part breds, or a mixture of both. 4. The group to consist of three horses of any age in any of the following categories: (a) All by the same sire (only one foal per group allowed). (b) All out of the same dam. (c) The dam herself with two of her offspring. (d) The dam, her daughter and one of her daughter’s offspring. 5. Each horse is eligible to compete in ONE group only. 6. One Member of the group is responsible for making the entry and for submitting full details of each animal in the group on a form provided by the Show Secretary. 7. WHITE LODGE STUD AMATEUR RIDDEN IRISH DRAUGHT Allington Ring A commencing at 2 00pm Judges: Miss Tracy Southern (Conformation) and Miss Jane Gilchrist (Ride) For Ridden Pure Bred Irish Draughts, 4 years old and over, amateur owned, produced and ridden. To be judged for conformation and ride. It is a condition of entry for this class that the exhibit MUST be entered and compete in at least one other class at this Show. Class 28 White Lodge Stud Amateur Ridden Irish Draught Previous winning championship combinations are not eligible to enter this class.

Ch8 WHITE LODGE STUD AMATEUR RIDDEN CHAMPIONSHIP The 8 highest scoring exhibits selected from the class to go forward to the Final held in the Championship Hall in the evening. Each finalist will give a freestyle show for a maximum of TWO minutes in order to impress the judges and determine the result. If the freestyle show exceeds the time allowed penalties will be given. CHAMPION to receive £400 RESERVE CHAMPION to receive £200 3rd and 4th places - £100 each 5th to 8th places - £50 each

WORKING HUNTER Marston Ring commencing at 12 30pm Judges: Mr Chris Hewlett (Conformation) and Miss Grace Gostelow (Ride) Class 37 Novice Working Hunter. 4 years old and over to be registered on the IDHS (GB) main studbook or on the IDSH register. Fences not to exceed 90 cms. Novice horses must not have won a first prize or total winnings of £50.00 in any Working Hunter classes. Class 38 Open Working Hunter. 4 years old and over to be registered on the IDHS (GB) main studbook or on the IDSH register. Fences not to exceed 1.10m.

Rules for Working Hunter Classes Classes 37 and 38 are open to any mare gelding or stallion except for Grade A Show Jumpers and Grade 1 eventers. Riders may enter up to two horses per class but must nominate one to go forward to phase two if so required. No change of rider, tack or clothing is permitted. There will be a minimum of 8 natural type fences. To be judged: Jumping 60% (40% jumping and 20% style and presence) Ride 20% Conformation 20% Penalties: 1st refusal = 15, 2nd refusal = 20, 3rd refusal = elimination. Knockdown = 10. Fall of horse or rider = elimination.

Sp10 for Stallions: The Skippy Too Trophy will be awarded to the stallion who gains the most points in ridden classes 29 – 39. Points: 1st =10pts 2nd = 8pts 3rd = 6pts 4th =4pts 5th =2pts 6th =1pt.

IRISH DRAUGHT WORKING EQUITATION Marston Ring 9 00 am to 12 00 noon

Class 39 The Jeanie Tolson Memorial Working Equitation Class. The class will be judged on both the rider and horse’s performance and overall turnout. Competitors will be judged individually, each following a set procedure for their individual show. A plan will be in the collecting ring with a map of the course of fences. One fence will be nominated and this fence MUST be taken at the TROT to demonstrate control and obedience. This fence will carry double points. There will be a maximum of six simple fences with a maximum height of 75cms. Three refusals or fall of horse or rider will result in elimination. A rider may enter up to two horses in this class. Horses will not be ridden by the Judge. If there are sufficient entries this class will be split into Pure Bred and Part Bred.

Enter the ring and halt in front of the Judge. Max 10 points The Judge will assess overall appearance, tack and turnout. After the assessment complete the individual set show. Max 20 points

After sustained halt proceed immediately to fence 1, complete the jumping phase and leave the ring. Each fence carries 10 points with ONE nominated fence that MUST be taken at the TROT carrying 20 points. For FIVE fences Max 60 points

All show traffic MUST approach from the A1 ARENA UK Allington Lane Take the turn off the A1 signposted to North Allington Grantham Services and follow the Brown signs Grantham for the Equestrian Centre. A1 Lincolnshire NG32 2EF The alternative route through Sedgebrook and Allington off the A52 is NOT suitable for horseboxes due to narrow roads and a (12ft) height restriction bridge. It is also a residential area and the residents would appreciate if the

traffic flow coming through their villages could be reduced on show days.
