Baur bought EMAP (they were the UK’s publishing house and radio network) One of the reasons why Bauer is a successful media company is that alongside Channel4 both put in 50% (we call this a joint venture) to buy ‘Box’ television which is now booming. IPC Media cater for a mainstream audience because they target a popular audience because they have high amount of readership and circulation Facts and figures from NME’s Media pack showing evidence that the magazine Is mainstream

Future Publishing is an independent company are an independent company They do not produce Media Packs for their magazines because they're an independent company. They attract and older audience of people who enjoy listening to rock and classical musical. Classical Rock produces other magazines such as; Prog, Blues and Country. As an independent company you’ll find that Future Publishing cannot use synergy as they do not have many subsidiaries which doesn’t create platforms for them to advertise. An independent company is on a tight budget and therefore attract a small audience thus creating less profit and attracting less advertisers. Music Magazines they own

• Classic Rock and Subgenres for Future Publishing

• The subgenres for Future Publishing are Music and Sports

It’s aimed at people who particularly love cycling They cost £4.75 They cost £5.50 It’s aimed at people who love classical rock music

Do they cater for mainstream or niche audiences? (demographic) Why do you think this?

• Future publishing cater for a niche audiences. I think this because for example for their music magazines they target a niche audience as not many people listen to classical rock/country music as a whole. Also, for their sports magazine they target a niche audience for example cyclist and all there magazines target a very older audience this can be an advantages as a very older audience will be working and can afford to buy their magazines.
