MOZAIC OF SERBIA NOVI PAZAR VALLEY OF THE KINGS - MONASTERY STUDENICA, DJURDJEVI STUPOVI, SOPOCANI AND GRADAC Two days/one night - by bus, through UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE Departures: 07.05; 04.06; 02.07; 06.08; 03.09; 01.10; 05.11. ITINERARY Day 1. (Saturday) - Belgrade - Studenica - Djurdjevi Stupovi - Novi Pazar ( km 330 kilometers) Departure ( Belgrade, from Nikola Pasic Square-bus parking) at 08am. Drive to the Kraljevo with a short break. Arrival at Studenica monastery, tour to the most important monasteries of medieval Serbia, spiritual prestige is maintained until today. Founded at the end of the XII century by the great ruler Stefan Nemanja. Today, there are the relics of Stefan Nemanja, his son Stefan the First Crowned and the Holy Anastasia, Nemanja's wife.It is on the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage. Drive towards Raska. Lunch break at the ethnic restaurant. Continue travel and tour to the monastery Djurdjevi Stupovi, one of the oldest Serbian monasteries and endowments of Stefan Nemanja. The church was completed in 1171. Monastery has been ruin for a long time, and now shines again and one part is reconstructed. Arrival in Novi Pazar. Church of holy apostles Peter and Paul Monastery Sopoćani Monastery Gradac Day 2. (Sunday) - Novi Pazar - Sopoćani - Gradac - Belgrade (330 km) Breakfast at the hotel. Continue the city tour, "Valley of jeans", market and craft center, followed by a visit to the National Museum "Ras", represented the history, ethnography, archeology and collection of coins from the Nemanjic period and as such is unique in the country. The journey continues to the monastery of Sopocani at the source of the river Raska. Founded by King Uros Ι, built in the period (1263-1268). According to written sources it was built in the VIII century, on the site of the old early-christian basilic. Formerly the seat of the old Raska episcopasy. Continue driving to the "Valley of Lilacs" , next stop at monastery Gradac. The nunnery was built at the end of the XIII century by the Serbian queen of French origin Helen of Anjou, wife of King Uros Ι. Return to Belgrade with short breaks. Arrival in the evening.
