How can i follow the team online? You can follow the team @memphishustle on , Instagram and Facebook or online at memphishustle.com.

Who owns the team? The Memphis Grizzlies.

Will Grizzlies players regularly play on the team? The NBA G League provides an excellent avenue for young players to gain valuable experience. Ten players on the current Grizzlies roster have G League experience, and operating our own G League franchise will provide even more opportunities for our younger players to continue developing their skills. All NBA players are eligible to be assigned to the NBA G League, with players having more than three years of NBA experience needing to consent to the assignment.

Where do NBA G League players come from? There are 10 different paths a player can take to the NBA G League: • NBA teams can assign players to their NBA G League affiliate and recall them at any time. • NBA teams can sign players with four years of service or fewer to two-way contracts, allowing them to retain their rights while the player spends the bulk of the season in the NBA G League. • NBA teams can draft players and sign them to NBA G League contracts, thus retaining their rights through the “Draft Rights Player” rule. • NBA teams can designate up to four players that they cut during training camp as “affiliate players,” meaning those players will join that team’s NBA G League affiliate (should the players choose to sign into the NBA G League). These players are signed under contract with the league rather than the team, however, meaning they are technically free agents who can be called up to any of the 30 NBA teams. • NBA G League teams hold local tryouts each offseason and can invite up to five players from these tryouts to their training camps. • The NBA G League holds a draft every year consisting of nearly 200 players who have signed contracts with the league. In 2016, the draft consisted of six rounds. • Players who return to the NBA G League are, by rule, re-acquired by the teams that they played for within the last two seasons (Returning Players). • Once the NBA G League season begins, players who sign NBA G League contracts are placed into a rotating waiver pool so that teams can claim them. • If a player from high school, college or overseas enters the NBA G League without ever having declared for the NBA Draft, he will also join the waiver pool. That player remains NBA Draft-eligible but is not eligible to 39 NBA G LEAGUE

nba g league and hustle faqs be called up to the NBA. • Select Contracts will be available beginning with the 2019-20 season to elite prospects who are eligible to play in the NBA G League but not yet eligible for the NBA, as part of a comprehensive professional path. The contracts, which will include robust programmatic opportunities for development, are for elite players who are at least 18 years old and will pay $125,000 for the five-month season.

When a new franchise joins the league, an expansion draft is held in which the new team selects 16 players from a pool of unprotected players among the league’s other teams. The will then hold that player’s NBA G League rights

for two seasons. Each returning team can protect up to 12 of its players from being selected. EXECUTIVES

Who is eligible to be drafted? The league signs 100+ players each year to join the pool of draft-eligible prospects. They include college players who went undrafted in the NBA Draft, international prospects, and players who were recently waived by NBA teams following training BASKETBALL camp. Players must be 18 years old to be eligible for the NBA G League Draft, as opposed to the NBA’s age minimum of 19. OPERATIONS

What is the value in owning/operating an NBA G League team? Operating our own team gives up a valuable platform for developing players, coaches and even front office personnel. The

team also gives us another vehicle to connect with the many passionate basketball fans across the region. BUSINESS OPERATIONS

How many teams make the playoffs? This season the eight teams with the best record following the regular season will make the single-elimination playoff tournament.

How many players are on an NBA G League roster? PLAYERS There are a minimum of 10 players on rosters, with two additional spots for players placed on the inactive/injury list. A team’s active roster may expand to up to 13 players if its parent club assigns players from the NBA roster.

How do NBA G League contracts work? MEDIA NBA G League players sign standard one-year contracts with the league, not individual teams, according to three different salary scales. (This excludes players on assignment from the NBA, who remain under NBA contract.)

Beginning in the 2017 offseason, NBA rosters expanded from 15 to 17 players with the addition of two spots for players

under “Two-Way Contracts.” CENTER LANDERS

NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team. Two-Way players are paid a corresponding daily amount based on the number of days they play in each league. Only players with four or fewer years of NBA service are able to sign Two-Way NBA

Contracts, which can be for either one or two seasons. EAGUE GL

How can I try out for the NBA G League? The league holds a National Tryout once each year. Participants must fill out an application and make a $350 online payment. The event is limited to 220 players, and between 25 and 40 typically sign contracts and become eligible for the NBA G League Draft.

Four players from the NBA G League National Tryout have gone on to reach the NBA: Dennis Horner (Nets), HISTORY (Raptors, Lakers, Pistons), Shaq Harrison (Suns) and (Hawks).

Additionally, each NBA G League team holds its own local tryout(s) prior to the start of the season and can invite up to five of the participants to its preseason training camp.

Is there an open tryout for the team? This season’s tryouts have already taken place. Tryouts for next season will be announced at a later date. All applicants must be eligible to play in the NBA G League and complete the required paperwork..

NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team. 45 HISTORY

history of grizzlies g league affiliation On May 6, 2014, the Memphis Grizzlies and Iowa Energy entered into a single-affiliation partnership. At the time, Memphis became the 14th NBA team to have a one-on-one affiliation with an NBA G League team.

At the end of the 2016-17 season, the Grizzlies finished the third and final season of a hybrid partnership with the Energy, wherein Memphis controlled the basketball decisions while Iowa team ownership managed business and community operations. During the partnership, the Grizzlies assigned eight total players for development or rehabilitation, including current Grizzlies players Wade Baldwin IV, , James Ennis III, and Wayne Selden Jr. In total, eight players on the Grizzlies’ 2017 playoff roster had NBA G League experience, while assistant coach Nick Van Exel served as an NBA G League head coach during the 2015-16 season (Texas Legends). The Grizzlies opening night roster for the 2017-18 season also featured seven players with prior NBA G League experience.

The Grizzlies’ partnership with the Energy became a critical part of the team’s player development initiatives. In 2016- 17, the Grizzlies suited up former Energy standouts Ennis III, Andrew Harrison, Martin and Selden Jr. Ennis played 24 games with Iowa during the 2015-16 season, respectively, before becoming regular rotation player for the Grizzlies during the 2016-17 season and starting 28 games. Harrison, a 2015 second round pick of the Phoenix Suns whose draft rights were acquired by Memphis, signed a multi-year contract with the Grizzlies prior to the 2016-17 season after showing continued improvement in 46 games as a member of the Energy in 2015-16. This season, Harrison averaged 5.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 72 games (18 starts), helped the Grizzlies to a 7-2 record in Mike Conley’s absence (lower back injury) and played a key role in the team’s Western Conference first round series against the San Antonio Spurs. Martin has appeared in spurts over the last two seasons with the Energy, while also appearing in 69 games over that span with the Grizzlies. Selden spent 35 games with Iowa last season after a training camp with the Grizzlies. After a 10-day contract with the , Selden signed a multi-year contract with the Grizzlies and was a large contributor during the 2017 NBA Playoffs. Selden has since re-signed with the Grizzlies. 2016 Grizzlies draft picks Baldwin IV and Deyonta Davis also spent time with the Energy during the 2016-17 season.

On January 24, 2017, the Memphis Grizzlies and the NBA G League announced that the Grizzlies acquired the right to own and operate an expansion team that would begin play for the 2017-18 season. With the purchase, the Grizzlies became the 19th NBA team to own and operate a NBA G League affiliate, while the NBA G League grows to 26 teams. It was announced the team would play at Landers Center in Southaven, Miss., cutting the distance between the Grizzlies and its affiliate from nearly 500 miles through the air to a mere 20 mile drive down I-55 for games and allowing the team to practice and use Grizzlies facilities. The Hustle practice mainly at the Built Ford Tough Training Facility at FedExForum and play 24 home games at the 8,362-seat Landers Center.
