According to the Goto80 website (2009), they traveled Europe together through Media Playgrounds, a creative broadcasting community. Xilitla (2014)

Menkman (2014) implies that this videoscape using glitch art was inspired by, and named after a place in Laz Pozas, Mexico called Xilitla.

The Landscape Architects Network (2015) states that this structure was built by artist Edward James who was granted a fortune by his family and wanted to create something surrealistic.

According to an interview, Rosa (2014)was interested in the dramatic changes of scenery.

Menkman (2013) posted about it on her blog which showed it was made into a videogame and was called a “failure” and “annoying” in a German videogame review. Institutions of Resolution Disputes (2015)

According to Digicult (2015), this is the first NYC solo exhibition of Rosa Menkman.

The iRD or “institutions of Resolution Disputes” is a philosophical concept on creating a media that translates digital materials as existing everywhere at the same time (Menkman).

She wrote a book called “The Glitch Moment/um,” published by the Institute of Network Cultures which goes more into detail about her theoretical practices with glitch art. Myopia

This is a digital print on wallpaper that was also shown in her institution for Resolution Designs series in her solo showing.

According to Transfer Gallery (2015), this glitch image is a close up of a JPEG2000, allowing people to see what was lost in the image compression.

Her goal is to bring into light the different failures and genealogies of glitch. Vernacular of File Formats (2010)

Rosa is very passionate about her theories as well as her ability to educate others.

She published the Vernacular of File Formats on slideshare.net (2010) to produce a guide for databend compression design.

According to Rosa (2012), this program has allowed many other file compressing and data programs to begin. Radio Dada (2008)

● In Radio Dada, Menkman uses image feedback and exported animated gifs to a with trippy visuals and a constant feedback. ● She enlisted the help of a person named Extraboy to help put music to the feedback and have it kind of sync up with it. ● Uses video, digital and analogue are mixed to “create a coherent whole” (Menkman). The Maze

The maze is comprised of about 30 seconds of black faded into a scene of two houses and a rose bush.

It starts off really eerie with at night as the houses are almost doubled and faded in and out. It then goes to color and then goes to more of a yellow purple tone.

The sound in this piece is mostly feedback and “Where the last of us go to find the Lost Boys then leads into music. Out on the wastes of the Never Never Maze - That's where the Boys lie! There where the waves dance forever - That's where the Boys lie!” A Stranger like Dada / Weird like quaint collage ¯\_( ͡ ʘᴥ ⊙ ‶ʔ)ノ/̵͇̿̿/̿ ̿ ̿☞ ఠ ಥ “Your work is so dada, it’s just weird...”

Based on Dadaism photomontage in the digital, glitch form. Menkman wrote an essay on her annoyance of friend’s disinterest in her work.

“Strange is a powerful effect from which to depart in a time that is desperate to ask new critical questions to counter the noise” Bibliography
