Qualified Charitable Distributions

Even though RMDs were waived by the CARES Act for 2020, I’m also making a list and parishioners can still use their IRA to get a tax break on giving to charity. Parishioners can do this with qualified checking it twice. charitable distributions (QCDs) from their IRA. The funds are directly transferred from your IRA to a charity and excluded ~ God from income. If there were RMDs, this would go towards satisfying the RMD, but even if there are no RMDs this year, this may be a better way to give to charity and reduce your taxable IRA balance at the same time. IRA owners and beneficiaries who are age 70 1/2 or older qualify for the QCDs.

Eucharist to Homebound

This pandemic has been a difficult time for everyone, especially those who have not been able to attend Mass here at St. Peter Catholic Church. Bishop Hying has given permission for Fr. Grant and the staff to bring Holy Communion to those who are homebound. Although we cannot yet enter care facilities, we are able to visit private homes. If you would like to go to confession and/or receive Holy Communion, please call the office, 249-6651, to make an appointment for Fr. Grant or a staff member to visit you.

From the Desk of Fr. Grant Fourth Sunday of Advent Dear Parishioners and Friends of Saint Peter Catholic Church,

I pray this note finds you well, joyful in anticipation for the coming of our Lord at Christmas! We only have a few more days of Advent in which we can continue to prepare our hearts for Christ’s coming to us in the incarnation, so may we enter into deeper prayer and silence with him over these next few days. I look forward to celebrating the joyful solemnity of Christmas with all of you, whether it is in person at one of our four Christmas Masses or from a small distance via our live-stream of Mass.

To assist those who would like to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation before Christmas, while also taking the precaution of being over six feet from the priest, the parish will be offering a time for “social distanced” confessions this Wednesday, Dec. 23rd, from 6-7pm. It will be taking place in our parish hall, with the priest at least ten feet away from the penitent, a plexiglass barrier in between, and all sanitary measures will also be in place.
