THE DIALOP SUMMER SCHOOL PROJECT First International Summer School of Dialogue between Christians and Marxists September 1 - 8, 2018, Syros University of the Aegean — Ermoupoli, Greece CALL FOR INVITATION THE IDEA OF THE SUMMER SCHOOL 2018 The DIALOP (Dialogue Project) Summer School is a joint project between universities, foundations, and associations, developed by faculty members with different ideological and philoso phical, Marxist or Christian backgrounds. In times of growing social challenges, its aim is to promote dialogue between Marxist and Christian positions and develop common commitments to peace, non-violence, social justice, democracy, and ecological transformation. Students and young activists from different European countries are invited to participate in this process. While Europe runs the risk of becoming a continent fragmented by walls and fences as well as increasing levels of inequality, an alternative vision of Europe must be developed: a common Europe of bridges, characterized by the exchange of cultural goods and values. In a world of increasing social, political, and cultural conflicts, the DIALOP Summer School encourages and hosts an. An intercultural and interfaith dialogue on the creation of a democratic and peaceful Europe. Spaces of dialogue will be explored in practice, common ground will be expanded, misunderstandings and prejudices be addressed, and differences understood in their complexity.
