Would I, she asked casually, in that way she has, like to get together a few people to talk the idea over? “Oh, okay,” I answered casually, in that way I have. It sounded like an interesting proposal, and, really, how much time could it take? I mean, really. I talked up the idea of being on the steering committee of a new publication to several people whose work, intelligence, and capabilities I respected (and who, not incidentally, I felt were unlikely to hit me), we called a meeting, and the next thing anyone knew, we had an editorial staff, a commitment, and a focus. -
Cody Parkey Saves the Eagles Once Again Philadelphia Eagles: Regular Season Recap
Abington Senior High School, Abington, PA, 19001 January 2019 Cody Parkey Saves the Eagles Once Again By Ross Armon Two windless nights in the American Midwest. Two primetime football games. Two down-to-the- wire endings. Two times Cody Parkey has saved the Eagles. Not much has changed since September 15, 2014, in Indianapolis. Nick Foles was still the Eagles starting quarterback. Darren Sproles was still slicing and dicing through defenses. When Parkey drilled the 36-yard chip shot, he was hailed as the heir to David Akers, the kicker who would once again lead the Eagles into the playoff s. Yet he would only play one more year for the Birds before fi nding his way to Chicago‘s O’Hare airport via Miami International Airport. Parkey’s botched attempt in the Eagles vs. Bears Wildcard game allowed him to reclaim his mantle as Philadelphia’s savior. Aft er 59 minutes and 50 seconds of sloppy, uncharacteristic football from both sides, the fate of two teams hung in the balance. On his fi rst attempt, the kick was drilled through the uprights. A few fans behind the end zone jumped in jubilation, assuming the Bears had just advanced to the NFC Divisional Round. Meanwhile, Doug Pederson had called a timeout just before the snap in an attempt to ice Parkey. And man oh man did it work. On the ensuing snap, Parkey kicked the ball just low enough for Treyvon Hester to glance the ball with a fi ngertip and just far enough to the left that the upright could seemingly bend over and knock the ball down into the crossbar. -

The Importance of American Sovereignty and Peace Through Strength: • We want to have a credible military deterrent We do not want more wars, but our adversaries need to believe that we will confront and engage them when it is needed. • The successful strategy of “Peace through Strength” is very different than Obama’s approach of “Strategic Patience.” The patience strategy led to the rise of ISIS and the enablement of Iran. • With the Trump administration, we went from a weak presence to a strong presence globally. -
Improved Special Teams Big Part of Recent Success
Winnipeg Free Press https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/hockey/jets/improved-special-teams-big-part-of- recent-success-461588263.html Improved special teams big part of recent success By: Jason Bell The Winnipeg Jets’ most recent victory provided some special times for their special-teams units. Winnipeg’s power play and penalty kill jumped in the overall rankings after stellar performances in the club’s 7-4 victory over the Golden Knights. After erasing five man-advantage situations for Vegas, Winnipeg’s penalty killers now have a 78.7 per cent efficiency rating, good enough for 19th in the NHL. But that’s four spots up from where they were Friday afternoon. Meanwhile, the power play continues to produce at a torrid pace and moved up two spots to fourth-best in the league (25.6 per cent) and No. 2-ranked on home ice (32.6). Tyler Myers, Kyle Connor and Patrik Laine scored as the Jets finished 3-for-5 with the Golden Knights short- handed. Talented and versatile centre Mark Scheifele said Saturday improved special-teams play has been a big factor in the team’s ascent in the standings. "When you’re scoring on the PP and you’re stopping the other teams on the PK, you are going to be successful," Scheifele said. "In today’s game, there’s a lot of the game that’s going to be played either a man up or a man down, and when you’re successful in those areas, you’re going to get a leg up on the opponent." He leads the Jets with 13 goals and 32 points, totals bolstered considerably by five tallies and 12 points with his club enjoying the man advantage.
