Registration is limited to the first 450 participants. Registration for a specific time slot, at first turn. Participants will have to complete the waiver on the spot to participate. Parents are expected to stay with their players. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, April 10 If this event is cancelled due to the weather, there is no makeup date. OVERVIEW SCOTTS MAJOR LEAGUE HIT and RUN provides youth across the country the opportunity to participate in an exciting baseball/softball skills competition. This national initiative gives boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 14 the opportunity to demonstrate their pitching, punching and running skills. There are two separate units of PITCH HIT and RUN: baseball and softball. Participants can compete in any division. Scotts PITCH HIT and RUN is designed to encourage youth participation and highlight the FUN element of baseball/softball. Since there is no registration fee, everyone has the opportunity to participate. Scotts Major League Baseball PITCH HIT and RUN tests three of the most fundamental aspects of baseball/softball - pitching, hitting and running. PITCH: The participant is tested by throwing punches at the designated target of the . Any method of throwing is allowed. HIT: The participant hits the ball from the stationary tee for distance and accuracy. RUN: The participant is accustomed, starting from second base, touching the third and then touching the home plate. All events are individually scored and converted to a total score at the expense of the conversion tables. Participants will compete in each of the three components of Scotts Major League Baseball PITCH HIT and RUN and accumulate an overall score based on his/her performance. LEVELS OF COMPETITION Scotts MAJOR League BASEBALL PITCH HIT is a national grassroots program that has four levels of competition - local, sectional, team championship and national finals. The first level has a LOCAL scope. Everyone has to take part in a local competition to go to a higher level. Local champions enter the SECTIONAL competition. At this level, sectional multi-headed champions are eligible to move to TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS, which are held in June in all 30 Major League Baseball markets. The climax takes place at NATIONAL FINALS, held during MLB ® All-Star Week. HOW TO ADVANCE Every boy should first at a local competition. 1st place all-around, pitching, hitting and running champions in each age group of divisions advance to a sectional contest where points are dropped and participants compete in all three skills. At breakout competitions, a young man must become a champion in all-around in his age group in order to qualify for the team championships. Separate All-Around Champions scores are compared to other separate champions scores in that respective MLB® team market. The top 3 participants in each age group of the division advance to the team championship. The Section champion does not automatically qualify for the team championship. After the team championships, the champions of the multi-round in each age group of the division are ranked at the national level by the sum of points. Champions from all 30 team markets are compared, and the top scorers in each age group of the division across the country advance to the National Finals. COMPETITION RULES All participants must provide a copy of the valid birth certificate to check age at all levels of the competition. Each young man can participate in only one division. Competition in more than one division will result in disqualification. Metal spikes are not allowed during any part of the competition. The use of metal spikes will lead to a minimum score. In the event of a draw for the all-around champion, the boy winning more individual events (Pitching, Hitting or Running), among those involved in the tie, will be named all-around champion. If the draw still exists, the boy with a higher score kick among those involved in the tie will be named all-rounder champion. If the draw still exists, the running scores of those involved in the tie will be used to determine the champion in the all-around. There is no tie-break in individual competitions. In the event of threatening weather conditions, cancellations and transfers will be determined by the host organization on the competition website. Major League Baseball® PITCH HIT and RUN endorses proper behavior and good sportsmanship. Major League Baseball®, LEJ Sports Group and state coordinators and organizers of Scotts Major League Baseball® PITCH HIT and RUNTM competition reserve the right to make decisions and recommendations regarding competitions determined to be in the best interest of the program. All rulings and recommendations are final. Participation in major league baseball's Scotts® PITCH HIT and RUN competition allows Major League Baseball® and LEJ Sports Group to use a participant's name, likeness and other personal rights for promotional use without compensation. You must pre-register online for PITCH, HIT and RUN will take place on Mother's Day Sunday, May 10, 2020 at Rundle Park. Registration will be on concession in Diamond #1. All boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 14 can participate. All participants must submit an ONLINE registration form. Parents/guardians should be prepared and be able to show proof of the age of the participant.
