Selsdon Park Hotel & Golf Club is a traditional, mature parkland golf course cut from the original thick forest that dominated this part of Surrey when the course was first designed by JH Taylor, five times winner of the British Open, in 1929. The course was fully renovated between January and April 2007 and today, the elevated greens and fairways lined with countless sycamore, beech, oak, silver birch and cedar trees, all make Selsdon a truly memorable course to play. In total the course has five par 5 holes, four of which measure over 500 yards. This need not be an intimidating experience, all but one of the nine par 4 holes are less than 400 yards and two of them are under 300 yards, so whether you are a handicapper or scratch player, Selsdon Park Hotel & Golf Club will give you the opportunity to dust down all of your clubs! The course stretches 6473 yards, a challenging par 73 and takes around four and a half hours to complete. What we do involves two of the most important things in Africa: HIV and Football. Almost everyone in Africa is affected by HIV and AIDS. Young people are particularly vulnerable. Football in Africa is incredibly popular and a great way of engaging with young people. We use football coaching to educate young Africans about sexual health, relationships and HIV. Specifically we teach young people how to avoid getting HIV, how to live with HIV if you have it, and how to support others to do the same. All our education is done on the pitch through unique interactive football drills, so young people enjoy, understand, learn and remember. We train African coaches, schoolteachers and youth leaders to do this coaching so that our work is African led and nobody is completely dependant on us. We call these people ‘multipliers’ as they are able to multiply our impact by training others We have a network of trained multipliers in the 6 countries highlighted on the map. EAGLES FLY HOME Crystal Palace Football Club Press Conference 20th January 2011 Press Release Crystal Palace FC plan return to historic home We are delighted to announce that Crystal Palace Football Club together with their advisors CB Richard Ellis and stadium designers AFL have been pursuing avenues and that would allow them to move back Eagles Fly Home to their original home ground within Crystal Palace park. Crystal Palace is a unique place, one off the highest points in London, a point where five South London boroughs collide and the home of the club. It also holds a special place in English football, hosting the first cup finals and early England Internationals. The plan is to provide: • 40,000 seat stadium • new indoor aquatic centre • reconfigured indoor sports complex within the existing structure • new community athletics facility Combined this will breathe new life into the National Sports Centre and the park by removing the requirement for the pool inside the current listed structure, greatly reduce the running costs and allow for the current space to be re-utilised for an even wider range of community and elite athletic sports. Planning will be sought for the full 40,000 seat capacity stadium, it may begin life with a reduced 25,000 capacity stadium, dependant on where we are, other uses etc. Steve Parish, Co–Chairman of Crystal Palace Football Club, said: “We are delighted to put forward our plans to return the club home to where it all began. We believe a stadium at Crystal Palace park can help create a bright new future for the club as well as helping to breathe new life into both the sports centre and the park.” What have we done so far Consultation began in July 2010 Click to edit Master title style London Borough of Croydon The club currently sits within the borough of Croydon, as such their support is pivotal to help develop Eagles Fly Home the existing site which will go a long way to financing the new stadium.

  • An Introduction from Show Racism the Red Cards Honorary President Shaka Hislop
An introduction from Show Racism the Red Cards honorary president Shaka Hislop: It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since I first started visiting schools around the North East with Show Racism the Red Card. I remember my first appearance alongside John Beresford at Gosforth High School like it was yesterday. To look at where the campaign is today and reflect on how far it has come, how many students have been given the confidence to look further than culturally imposed horizons, to express their own fears, concerns, and share in each other’s triumphs, has been the true reward of the thankless work of the hundreds of campaign workers, players, managers and volunteers through three decades. Women and men who themselves have grown through their own interactions with the kids over the years. I’d like to thank the sponsors, contributors and those who have and continue to donate to the campaign. Your support cannot be measured in mere financial terms. How do you put a price tag on hope, encouragement and empowerment? I’d like to take a special moment to thank those teachers, educators and school administrators who were open to the idea of introducing SRTRC, and our materials into your classrooms. All our years we are taught to colour within the lines, never stray too far from our places of comfort. Without your own willingness to take that first step outside of your own ‘lines’ your students would not have been allowed to further extend their own selves. So as we go through the review of the last 20 years, take a moment for a collective pat on the back, you all deserve it.
