It is a stunning example of Bhutanese architecture, sitting at the fork of two rivers, portraying the image of a medieval city from a distance. The dzong was destroyed by fire and glacial floods over the years but has been carefully restored and is, today, a fine example of Bhutanese craftsmanship.

Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten - A 30-minute drive from the Punakha Dzongwill bring you to the base of the hill on which this temple is built. From the car park, you have to cross a suspension bridge and walk through fields before you start climbing a moderately inclined trail surrounded by pine trees.
