A form of the Citrix ADC (application delivery controller) that runs on a hardware appliance, designed for Citrix ADC MPX managing web applications with multiple gigabits of traffic, load balancing for small enterprises, high performance web application security, and flex tenancy.

Its target use is supporting data Citrix ADC SDX center consolidation, providing multi-tenancy, tenant isolation without compromise, and enabling cloud build-outs.

A software-based virtual ADC appliance for app delivery that runs on widely deployed hypervisors, designed for performance of 10 Mbps to 40 Gpbs. Its target use is architecting scalable multi-tenant, Citrix ADC VPX private or public cloud infrastructures, utilizing Citrix ADC within non-production environments, and providing app delivery options for smaller businesses.

Security and behavior analytics that leverage machine-learning algorithms and application behavior Citrix Analytics anomaly detection technology to achieve broad insights and proactive risk resolution capabilities.

Centralized lifecycle management of network functions and applications with visibility and analytics Citrix Application Delivery across Citrix Networking products and services. Includes frictionless acquisition, deployment, and Management (ADC) operation of application delivery end-to-end with insights and recommendations. Formerly known as Citrix Management and Analytics System.

A technology that layers core elements of the desktop (OS, platform, application, and personalization layers) for efficient centralized management. It containerizes desktop apps as virtual disks to offer Citrix App Layering error-free, install-free delivery to end users and package-once, update-once efficiency for IT. Citrix App Layering runs on the Citrix Apps and Desktops platform, and also on VMware and Microsoft platforms.

A cloud-based management platform that hosts and administers Citrix services. It connects to resources through the Citrix Cloud Connector on any cloud or infrastructure (on-premises, public cloud, private Citrix Cloud cloud, or hybrid mixture). Create, manage, and deploy workspaces with apps and data to end-users from this single console.

A Citrix component that is installed to facilitate the administration and control of resource locations from Citrix Cloud. The connector enables Citrix Cloud to communicate securely with the machines in Citrix Cloud Connector a resource location without requiring VPNs or IPSec tunnels. There may be multiple instances of the connector software installed.

Mobile device management (MDM), mobile application management (MAM), productivity apps, and Citrix Endpoint Management endpoint and IoT orchestration and security.

A desktop and mobile app for integrating file sync and share access. This app combines what were Citrix Files formerly known as the ShareFile Drive Mapper and the ShareFile Sync client technologies and works with Citrix Workspace environments that include content collaboration features, or ShareFile deployments.

An integration for automatically detecting and uploading attachments to your secure file storage. Citrix Files for Outlook It provides the recipient with a link to the attachment in the body of the email. Users can send large attachments via email with ease and verify attachments are delivered securely.

A secure network access gateway and consolidated infrastructure for secure remote access to business applications and desktops deployed in the datacenter or a cloud across a range of devices including Citrix Gateway laptops, desktops, thin clients, tablets and smart phones. It provides granular application and data-level control while empowering users with remote access from anywhere. Formerly known as NetScaler Gateway.

A plug-in users can install on their devices to access resources in the secure network as if they were in the office. Resources might include email servers, file shares, and intranet web sites. The experience of the end user through their workspace built with Citrix Cloud services. It includes single Citrix Workspace Experience sign-on across apps (data center, cloud, web, SaaS), and unifies identity, data files, and digital services.

For Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop environments, a data center is a logical container for Delivery Controllers, session machines, Delivery Sites, app store server groups, and compute resources. Use Data Center a data center to represent resources that have a low-latency, high-bandwidth network connection. Typically, a data center contains resources within the same geographic location, and multiple data centers are connected by a WAN.

Delegated Administration A model for delegating administration activities using role and object-based control.

A server-side component that is responsible for distributing applications and desktops to users, Delivery Controller managing user access through policies, and power-managing desktops and reboot cycles for servers.

A container for a machine or machines used to deliver applications and desktops to a specific group of users. A Delivery Group is associated with a specific Delivery Site. A single Delivery Group can contain Delivery Group applications from a number of machine catalogs. Also, a single Delivery Group can be configured so a single user can access multiple applications in the group.

The instance of a Windows operating system (OS) being displayed on an end user’s device. The desktop may be running remotely or locally on the end user’s device. The end user interacts with the desktop as if Desktop it is running on their device, whether or not the desktop OS is running remotely on a physical server or on a virtual machine.

A monitoring console that provides trend and diagnostic information about apps and desktops to view Director and troubleshoot system-level performance, session usage data, and configuration changes. Support and help desk teams use Director to identify and resolve problems affecting users.

A software agent that users install to enroll their device and subsequently allow administrators to Endpoint Management Agent manage the device.

GSLB can balance the load across data centers by directing client requests to the closest or best performing data center, or to surviving data centers in case of an outage.

High-definition experience for users of centralized apps and desktops, on any device or network, HDX Technology (HDX) designed with intelligent redirection, adaptive compression, and data de-duplication. HDX optimizes the user experience, decreases bandwidth consumption, and increases user density per hosting server.

A feature that brings app and desktop virtualization to remote office employees, 3rd party contractors, and mobile tablets working in graphically intense 3D applications. Large data files required to generate HDX 3D Pro complex designs remain safe in the data center while users stay in sync without complex and costly data synchronization.

HDX Realtime Media Engine A plug-in to support high-definition audio-video calls, particularly with Microsoft Skype for Business.

A component providing a highly scalable solution for delivering real-time audio-video conferencing and HDX Realtime Optimization Pack VoIP enterprise telephony through Microsoft Skype for Business in virtual app and desktop environments to users on Linux, Mac, and Windows devices.

High availability provides uninterrupted operation in any transaction. If the primary node of a networking appliance is unable to accept connections, the secondary node appliance takes over. If a health check High Availability fails, the secondary node retries the connection for a specified period, after which it determines that the primary node is not functioning normally. The secondary node then takes over for the primary (a process called failover).

A text file containing product licensing data such as license quantity, expiration dates, License Server License File identifier, and other system information. A group of machines that are all made from a single master image, sharing similar settings. Machine Machine Catalog catalogs allow a group of machines to serve a similar purpose and be assigned as a group.

A machine provisioning capability for designing and quickly deploying virtual machine images. Citrix Machine Creation Services Provisioning also offers a robust, standalone type of machine provisioning with its own dedicated environment and console.

A console for Citrix Hypervisor from which to deploy, manage, and monitor virtual machines from a Management Console for Citrix Hypervisor Windows desktop. Formerly known as XenCenter.

A method of authentication that requires the use of more than one verification method to add layers of Multifactor Authentication security.

When a product requests a license, it is checked out to the user until a preconfigured period of time expires. Named User License The check-out is not tied to a computer or device. After the license is checked out, the user can run multiple sessions on different computers without checking out more licenses.

Computing or data storage that’s locally hosted and maintained, as distinguished from cloud-based On-Premises computing and storage. Includes infrastructure housed in data centers with controlled access by a single customer. Similar to private cloud.

One-Time PIN A PIN that is valid for only one logon session or transaction.

Per Device License A type of license with a unique device ID and allowing an unlimited number of users per device.

A type of license that requires a unique user ID, such as an Active Directory entry. When assigned to Per User License a user, the license allows the user to connect to desktops and applications with multiple devices. A licensed user can connect to multiple instances of a product concurrently.

Platform as a service (PaaS) is a model in which a third-party provider delivers hardware and software tools -- usually those needed for application development -- to users over the internet. A Platform as a Service (PaaS) PaaS provider hosts the hardware and software on its own infrastructure. As a result, PaaS frees users from having to install in-house hardware and software to develop or run a new application.

The act of making apps, desktops, or other services available to users or subscribers. After an app is Publish installed on a server or in the cloud, an additional act of publishing might be needed to list it among available apps for end users to select.

Software as a service (SaaS) is a software distribution model in which a third-party provider hosts applications and makes them available to customers over the Internet. SaaS is one of three main Software as a Service categories of cloud computing, alongside infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS).

An enterprise app store where users choose apps and desktops. StoreFront administrators can display StoreFront apps in the store or create app shortcuts similar to native apps. StoreFront works in conjunction with Citrix Receiver, the access app that connects users. StoreFront authenticates users and hosts the app store.

SSL Certificates are small data files that digitally bind a cryptographic key to an organization’s details. SSL Certificate When installed on a web server, it activates the padlock and the https protocol and allows secure connections from a web server to a browser.

A workspace no longer refers to a physical space, like an office or a cubicle.
