Pocono Raceway is a superspeedway that many young drivers cut their teeth on in the early stages of their career, owing to the fact that you can start a race at Pocono at 17 years old instead of the usual minimum of 18 years old seen at many other intermediate tracks. One of those 17-year old drivers delivered in the General Tire #AnywhereIsPossible 200 from Pocono as picked up his first superspeedway victory while driving the No. 18 Racing owned by his father, . Gibbs was joined on the podium by a pair of his fellow young rising stars in the sport, both coincidentally sharing a birthday at the track – rang in his 18th birthday with a second-place finish for the Billy Venturini-owned No. 20 team, while celebrated his 17th birthday by finishing third in his Maury Gallagher-backed No. 21 car. The big win for Ty Gibbs pushed his father’s No. 18 team up to third in the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge standings with 120 points thanks to their first superspeedway win of the season. The No. 18 team now lurks right behind the Cathy Venturini-owned No. 25 car in the standings. The No. 25, driven by Daytona winner to a fifth-place run at Pocono, maintains second place with 121 points. , fresh off of a win at Talladega for No. 15 car owner Bill Venturini, came home sixth at Pocono and ensured that the No. 15 maintained its very narrow lead in the standings. The No. 15 now has 122 points on the season, keeping a gap of one point over the No. 25 and just two points over the No. 18 team. The General Tire 150 at , the fourth superspeedway race of the 2020 season, will see many of the same players from the Pocono race return as Kentucky too has a minimum age requirement of 17 instead of 18. Pocono winner Ty Gibbs will hit the track in the No. 18 Toyota and Sam Mayer will be back in the No. 21 GMS Racing . , driving the No. 23 Chevrolet owned by his father Stacy Holmes, will enter Kentucky as one of the few drivers in the field with experience at the track, as well as being in a tie for fourth in the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge standings. Holmes finished seventh at Kentucky in 2016 and was knocked out by a mechanical issue at the track in 2017. The driver will head north to Kentucky with an active streak of nine consecutive top ten finishes at superspeedways dating back to last April. The General Tire Superspeedway Challenge – a championship within a championship The General Tire Superspeedway Challenge is a special series within the greater ARCA Menards Series overall championship. The challenge is comprised of races on the ARCA schedule at paved ovals greater than 1.5 miles in length. The season-long battle began at Daytona in February and will conclude at Kansas in October. Race points only count towards a team’s yearlong tally, with bonus points not counted towards this total. The General Tire Superspeedway Challenge is contested among car owners, rather than drivers, so that a team using multiple drivers has the same chances of winning as a team with a single full-time driver. Last year saw Chad Bryant’s No. 22 Chad Bryant Racing Ford take the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge crown via this method, with three different drivers making starts in the No. 22 car. The effort was anchored by , now competing in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series for Niece , as he won three races in just six starts to help seal the title for Bryant. 2020 General Tire Superspeedway Challenge Current Points
