    2014 The Future Female Table Tennis World Champion is from Europe An introduction to the European Center of Excellence Linz Lissfeld in cooperation with Linz AG Froschberg Abstract This concept written by Linz AG Froschberg (Alexandra Mandl and Co Author Robert Renner) outlines the development of sports and table tennis over the last decades. It points out the changes and turning points in history which show us that a change in the European Table Tennis structure is necessary. Linz AG Froschberg recommends putting more emphasis on the club system all over Europe in order to create successful athletes. The club also introduces a new training concept in the framework of Centers of Excellence. These centers are international training hot spots for the most talented young athletes from. Their aim is to help the most talented young athletes to get education in various aspects, such as sports, table tennis, school and personality. Linz AG Froschberg and upper Austria has got already a lot of experience in educating young female athletes. Therefore, the club would like to be the first official Center of Excellence for the most promising native European female and also male athletes aged from 10-21. There is everything ready for the upcoming Stars in Linz: Infrastructure, the professional surrounding, the experience and the enduring and growing success with players of every age. Diese will einerseits mehr Menschen zum regelmäßigen Sport motivieren und andererseits die Erfolge im Leistungssport erhöhen. Beiden ambitionierten Zielen wurde man auch im Jahr 2016 wieder mehr als gerecht, wie zahl­ reiche Erfolge im Spitzensport, einzigartige Sportevents und ein umfang­ reiches Angebot an Breitensportangeboten beweisen. Der niederösterreichische Senkrechtstarter des vergangenen Jahres war zweifelsohne Dominic Thiem, der durch seinen Halbfinaleinzug bei den French Open und die Teilnahme bei den ATP Finals für Furore sorgte. Auch bei den Olympischen Spielen in Rio sorgten niederösterreichische Sportler für inter nationale Ausrufezeichen. Andreas Onea erfüllte sich mit der Bronzemedaille einen Lebens­ traum und Corinna Kuhnle holte den beachtlichen fünften Platz im Wildwasserslalom. Die nieder­ österreichische Sportlerin des Jahres hieß Ivona Dadic. Sie rechtfertigte diese Auszeichnung vor allem durch ihre Bronzemedaille bei den Europameisterschaften in Amsterdam. Großartige Leistungen gab es natürlich auch bei unseren heimischen Großsportevents, wie dem Ironman 70.3 in St. Pölten, dem Beach volleyball Baden, dem Wachaumarathon oder dem Skiweltcup am Semmering, der im letzten Jahr mit 24.000 Besuchern einen neuen Zuschauerrekord aufstellte. Dass der Spitzensport auch immer auf eine große Basis aus dem Breitensport zurückgreifen kann, dafür sorgten wieder Projekte wie „Spitzensportler hautnah erleben“, die Familiensporttage, die Skikids oder das Symposium „Kinder in Bewegung“.
