(Description abbreviated) 1 First of all, please allow me to introduce myself briefly. My name is Shigeki Yamaguchi, and I am in charge of the Enterprise & Solutions Segment. After joining NTT DATA Corporation (“NTT DATA”) in 1984, I engaged in development and consulting duties before being sent on loan, following which I served, in the Third Enterprise Sector, as head of a unit responsible for distribution and services industries. Subsequently, the Company conducted an organizational realignment, transferring the payment field, composed mainly of CAFIS, from the Financial Segment to the Enterprise & Solutions Segment. I was then in charge of the IT Services & Payments Services Sector. Starting from June 2017, as officer responsible for the Enterprise & Solutions Segment, I have been in charge of the manufacturing industry and solutions fields and network and cloud services as well as China & APAC Segment. 2 The Enterprise & Solutions Segment consists of three sectors. The first one is the IT Services & Payments Services Sector, which is responsible mainly for distribution and services industries. The second one is the Manufacturing IT Innovation Sector, responsible mainly for manufacturing industry, etc. The third one is the Business Solutions Sector, which pursues operations mainly for IT networks, data centers and cloud services as well as new technologies comprising AI and the IoT. • Japanese Manufacturing Affiliates in Europe and Turkey
06-ORD 70H-002AA 7 Japanese Manufacturing Affiliates in Europe and Turkey - 2005 Survey - September 2006 Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Preface The survey on “Japanese manufacturing affiliates in Europe and Turkey” has been conducted 22 times since the first survey in 1983*. The latest survey, carried out from January 2006 to February 2006 targeting 16 countries in Western Europe, 8 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, and Turkey, focused on business trends and future prospects in each country, procurement of materials, production, sales, and management problems, effects of EU environmental regulations, etc. The survey revealed that as of the end of 2005 there were a total of 1,008 Japanese manufacturing affiliates operating in the surveyed region --- 818 in Western Europe, 174 in Central and Eastern Europe, and 16 in Turkey. Of this total, 291 affiliates --- 284 in Western Europe, 6 in Central and Eastern Europe, and 1 in Turkey --- also operate R & D or design centers. Also, the number of Japanese affiliates who operate only R & D or design centers in the surveyed region (no manufacturing operations) totaled 129 affiliates --- 125 in Western Europe and 4 in Central and Eastern Europe. In this survey we put emphasis on the effects of EU environmental regulations on Japanese manufacturing affiliates. We would like to express our great appreciation to the affiliates concerned for their kind cooperation, which have enabled us over the years to constantly improve the survey and report on the results. We hope that the affiliates and those who are interested in business development in Europe and/or Turkey will find this report useful.

  • 210419 Testimony of Tareq Amin FINAL
Testimony of Tareq Amin Representative Director, Executive Vice President and CTO of Rakuten Mobile Hearing on “Leading the Wireless Future: Securing American Network Technology” U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce, Subcommittee on Communications and Technology April 21, 2021 Good morning, Chairmen Pallone and Doyle, Ranking Members McMorris Rodgers and Latta, and Members of the Subcommittee. Thank you for the opportunity to testify today on this important topic. I am Tareq Amin, Representative Director, Executive Vice President and CTO of Rakuten Mobile. To start, let me say Rakuten doesn’t think of itself as a mobile operator. We are a technology company, with both Japanese and American DNA, committed to bringing the best of what the technology sector offers to advance the agility, security, and affordability of the wireless networks and services. In fact, Rakuten Mobile is its own first customer. Running on our open cloud-based Rakuten Communications Platform (or RCP), our mobile network in Japan proves that cloud-based wireless networks are no longer a vision that merits discussion. They are not just a proof of concept, they are a reality. We are driving a more diverse supply chain, with continuing innovation across multiple technologies, and providing significant consumer benefit. And, the majority of our network components come from U.S. suppliers. In today’s testimony I want to help you see through my eyes and those of our employees, executives, and customers how we decided to revolutionize mobile and wireless networks and the advantages of such an architecture for American networks. Almost seven years ago, I had an opportunity to visit the data centers of one of America’s top Internet platforms and I was shocked to see how they engineered, how they built, and how they architected their systems.
