232 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENTIFIC & ENGINEERING RESEARCH, VOLUME 12, ISSUE 1, JANUARY-2021 ISSN 2229-5518 Circumambulation in Indian pilgrimage: Meaning and manifestation Santosh Kumar Abstract— Our ancient literature is full of examples where pilgrimage became an immensely popular way of achieving spiritual aims while walking. In India, many communities have attached spiritual importance to particular places or to the place where people feel a spiritual awakening. Circumambulation (pradakshina) around that sacred place becomes the key point of prayer and offering. All these circumambulation spaces are associated with the shrines or sacred places referring to auspicious symbolism. In Indian tradition, circumambulation has been practice in multiple scales ranging from a deity or tree to sacred hill, river, and city. The spatial character of the path, route, and street, shift from an inside dwelling to outside in nature or city, depending upon the central symbolism. The experience of the space while walking through sacred space remodel people's mental and physical character. As a result, not only the sacred space but their design and physical characteristics can be both meaningful and valuable to the public. This research has been done by exploring in two stage to finalize the conclusion, In which First stage will involve a literature exploration of Hindu and Buddhist scripture to understand the meaning and significance of circumambulation and in second, will investigate the architectural manifestation of various element in circumambulatory which help to attain its meaning and true purpose. The Maratha scholars and historians had worked hard to construct the history of the land and people of Maharashtra. Among such scholars people like Kashinath Sane, Rajwade, Khare and Parasnis were well known luminaries in this field of history writing of Maratha. Kashinath Sane published a mass of original material like Bakhars, Sanads, letters and other state papers in his journal Kavyetihas Samgraha for more eleven years during the nineteenth century. HINDU MANAGEMENT OF THE DEAD AND COVID-19 INTRODUCTION HINDU MANAGEMENT OF THEHINDU DEAD AND COVID-19 The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that last rites have to be accelerated and adapted to minimize the number of people involved, and close contact with the dead body is not possible without Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This makes it even more challenging for family and friends of the deceased to cope with their loss. Lack of familiarity with cultural and religious practices on the part of personnel involved in dead body management can have serious consequences. This document will aid in understanding the Hindu perspective on management of the dead, and how last rites might be adapted to minimize the possible risk of further infection. HINDUISM Hinduism is one of the oldest religions in the world, and the third largest after Christianity and Islam, with adherents numbering around 1.15 billion or 15–16% of the world population. Outside its Indian heartland, Hinduism is the majority religion in Nepal, Mauritius and the Indonesian island of Bali, while Hindus form significant minorities in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bhutan, Malaysia and Singapore, and are otherwise spread in a sizeable diaspora across Asia, Europe, North America, the Caribbean and Africa.1 Hindu beliefs are highly diverse. Rather than one creed or unified system, Hinduism encompasses a vast diversity of religious beliefs and phenomena, encapsulated in scriptures ranging from the earliest Vedas through to the Upanishads, Puranas and epics such as the Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana. Most Hindus believe that all living creatures have an Atman- variously a soul, self, spirit or essence- which is either one with or distinct from Brahman, variously the supreme soul, essence or first principle of all creation, depending on the school of thought. -

ANNEXURE-II Proposed Terms of Reference to carry out EIA studies for the Development of Vijaydurg Port Vijaydurg Port Private Limited March 2011 1.0 INTRODUCTION M/s Vijaydurg Port Private Limited (VPPL) has been granted a BOOST Concession by the Maharashtra Maritime Board, a statutory body constituted by Government of Maharashtra for development, management and operating a Greenfield Port in Vijaydurg in Devgad Taluka in Sindhudurg District of Maharashtra. With this development VPPL envisions to serve the Nation and the State by way of offering an efficient facility for maritime industry and give an impetus to development of industries in the hinterland with cost effective logistics for import and export of raw materials and finished goods. Vijaydurg, is located along the west coast of India at about 50 km (coastal distance) south of Ratnagiri city, in the state of Maharashtra. In the notification dated 6th January 2000, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the India Ports Act 1908 (XV of 1908) , the Home Department of the Government of Maharashtra State has defined the port limit of Vijaydurg Port as below: “the coast line ten miles seaward from Jaitapur lighthouse on the headland at the entrance of the Wagotan river on the north coast ten mile seaward and thence southward as far as including Kaloshi to the North Bank of entrance to Wada river to the south and all the creeks and banks within these limits as far as navigable and all shores 50 yards landwards from high water mark” . Based on the above description the port limits of the Vijaydurg have been identified and as marked on the attached Figure 1.1. -

Holi – Holy Opportunity to Relish Divine Love
HOLI – HOLY OPPORTUNITY TO RELISH DIVINE LOVE The festive bonfire; the smearing of dyes; the spraying of colored water; the joyful faces of all – these memories flash through any Indian mind, when reminded of Holi, one of the most important of all Indian festivals. Indeed, festivals are an integral and endearing part of Indian culture. They break the monotony of life, bring everyone together in joyful reunion and strengthen bonds of affection in the community. In traditional Vedic culture, festivals served another important purpose, a purpose that has been all but forgotten nowadays. Festivals were primarily meant to bring humanity closer to divinity; they served as occasions for people to put aside their worldly preoccupations and focus on the Lord and His glorious deeds. Without knowing this spiritual purpose, people nowadays get external fun through festivals and miss the internal enrichment that they offer. The upcoming festival of Holi, celebrated on the last day of the bright fortnight of the month of Phalgun, offers an excellent opportunity to regain what we have missed for long. Let’s start with the bonfire. The history of the bonfire dates back to millennia, when the demon king Hiranyakashipu ruled and terrorized the universe, considered God, Vishnu, and His devotees to be his arch enemy. When the demon saw that his own son, Prahlada, had become a devotee of Vishnu, he decided to kill Prahlada. But Lord Vishnu protected Prahlada during all the assassination attempts. In despair, Hiranyakashipu ordered his sister, Holika, who had been blessed with immunity from fire, to take Prahlada into fire and burn him to death.
