I chose this goal partially because of my location, but also because it was a collection that few people had ever bothered to collect. Aside from a few deleted webpages available through archive.org and the incomplete sources at Famicom World and BootlegGames Wiki, there just wasn't much to go on. Hundreds of hours of searching through auctions around the globe, chatting with other collectors, and just going out and tracking down this obscure corner of Famicom collecting, and I had ended up compiling my own personal list to help aid with my own collecting goals. Since those modest times, the scope of my personal collection has evolved into collecting everything Famicom, from Russian translations to educational cartridges, to official game packs and promos as well. As such, the documents which I use to keep track of my collection / game wants also evolved, and I felt it was time to compile it into a more user-friendly document. Likewise, I would like to offer this document as a gift to all of my collecting buddies out there, who have helped sell / trade / gift me so many carts over the past three years. My collection wouldn't be where it is today without you guys, and without all of the interesting discussions about Famicom, I probably would have also lost interest by now if I were to go at it truly solo. -

Oggi vi racconteremo dello sviluppo di un gioco molto controverso, sviluppato nell’arco di molti anni e arrivato al pubblico con sembianze totalmente diverse da quelle originali e che compromise il solidissimo rapporto fra Nintendo e Rare, facendo diventare quest’ultima compagnia un’esclusiva di Microsoft. Visto il suo 16esimo anniversario dell’uscita (che ricorreva due giorni fa), oggi parleremo di Star Fox Adventures, un gioco dai giudizi contrastanti e che ricordò al mondo che è meglio che Fox McCloud rimanga all’interno del suo Arwing – o magari che scenda solo per prendere a cazzotti i suoi colleghiNintendo per il Super Smash Bros. corrente. Over time FCE Ultra had separated into many separate branches. The concept behind FCEUX is to merge elements from FCEU Ultra, FCEU rerecording, FCEUXD, FCEUXDSP, FCEUXDSP CE, and FCEU- mm into a single branch of FCEU. BUY THE BOOK AT FANGAMER.COM THOSE PESKY POLS There are weird, yellow enemies in Zelda called “Pols Voices”. They have whiskers and big ears and bounce around all over the place. They’re also really tough to defeat if you try to use your sword. So if you were a kid during the NES days, you probably checked the instruction manual to find information about them and came across this: “A ghost with big ears and a weak point - he hates loud noise.” The manual tells you that Pols Voices are weak against loud sounds… So what’s the immediate, natural conclusion? Use the flute item! That oughta do it! But nope, it does absolutely nothing to the Pols Voices. I remember being confused by this as a kid, thinking, “Why would the manual say that then? What else could it be talking about?” I didn’t realize at the time that there was a lot more to the story. Basically, the Japanese Famicom system is different from the NES in a lot of little ways. One of these differences is the controllers – the Famicom came with two controllers Darn you, properly- permanently connected to the system, and Controller #2 had a built-in microphone. But translated manual! when the NES was released, it was stripped of this microphone hardware. So when Japanese players read that Pols Voices were weak against sound, they might’ve thought of the flute too. But astute players would’ve also thought, “Hey, I wonder what happens if I try to use the microphone on Controller #2?” It turns out that blowing into the microphone or making enough sound will cause all the Pols Voice in a room to die instantly! To compensate for the lack of a microphone, the NES version makes the Pols Voice enemies weak against arrows. -
