In 2008, Beverungen had the honour of hosting the annual festival of the “Confederation of Historical German Marksmen's Brotherhoods" with thousands of participants coming from all over the west of the country. The Marksmen Tradition has been recognised by the German UNESCO Commission as “intangible cultural heritage” in 2015. • China /East Wind/Dir:Yuanhua Luo/06:09 In the Chinese context, “East Wind” can be interpreted as ”the coming of spring”. This film describes the process of winter to spring which compares the process to a baby growing up in a mother’s uterus. By depicting the microscopic perspective of the fetus slowly growing from a single point to complex tissues, it refers to the birth process of small lives in early spring. Those invisible changes like the east wind reflect the poetic nature of the process of spring new life from simple to complex And beauty. Those subtle changes like east wind represent the poetry and beauty of the process which is from complexity to simpleness of new life in spring. • India /Vaishali Ki Nagarvadhu/Dir:Aditya Dhingra/04:57/Hindi 'Vaishali ki Nagarvadhu' is a painting by Madhu Gupta. Madhu Gupta has been a painter for more than 50 years. This film is an attempt to bring into limelight the dedication and perseverance shown by the artist throughout her life. The film is a short documentary. It reveals the story behind the painting - narrated by the artist herself. Through this film, the filmmakers pass the message to its audience to make good art. The painting is not an original. • Bahrain /jeshoo/Dir:Mohammed Sudaif/16:23/Arabic The film revolves around the character (Jishu), who is an Asian cleaner, as the film sheds the light on the suffering he encounters in his work, which consists of mistreatment, harassments, and abuse both physically and emotionally. The film features a purely humanitarian context as the film reviews a day in the shoes of Jishu’s, where we see his suffering as the film ends tragically. 12 Noon • Brazil /First Carnival/Dir:Alan Medina/05:00 A child experiences the magic of carnival for the very first time. • Chile /Quele Quele/Dir:Pablo Mellado, Marianne Fuentealba/ 01:00:00/Spanish In the cultural manifestations of the north of Chile, within the diversity a red-skinned dance attracts attention, it is immediate to wonder why. The motivations tell an incredible story that goes back to the exploitation of saltpeter, its decadence and how image referents generate identity. "El Indio Piel Roja" is built on the imaginary from the western cinema, the adventures of the far west novels or the comic and the world famous Buffalo Bill show. They represented as Indians manifest their spirituality and indigenous identity assimilating the virtues of the American Indian, their wisdom, their connection with nature, their artistic manifestations and rituals to transform them into devotion to the Virgin of Carmen following a tradition of ancestral worship to the pacha mama that the process of syncretism transformed into the Chinita del Carmen de La Tirana. This documentary, more than telling a story, unfolds in photographing the desert and its beauty, a situation in which the Red Skins manifest spiritually surrounded by elements such as choreography, rituals, dances, music and the transformation of these people when putting on their clothes. • Poland /In Chopin's Footsteps Through The Berry Region/Małgorzata Szyszka 31:27/English, French, Polish Inspiration story of a French folk culture in the works of Frederic Chopin. Berry wandered into the region where Chopin stayed with George Sand in Nohant. Our quest was accompanied by the sounds of the artists participating in the Festival. 2pm • Brazil /Samsara/Dir:Stefano Capuzzi Lapietra/02:37/Portuguese The search for a way out pointed him to the true path. • Italy /Eporedia/Dir:Andrea Lazzari/20:00/Italian Eporedia is a tribute to the value of the Carnival of Ivrea, whose spectacular traditions are today the symbol of the city itself. A great party that reflects a popular spirit handed down over the years, pushed over the strong smell of citrus that during the demonstrations creates, in the squares, big orange carpets. A battle - that of the oranges- told by the two enemy factions, the citizens in revolt - "aranceri a terra” - and the weapons of the tyrant - “aranceri sul carro” - with the voice of the "Pantere Nere", the fair team of shooters whose colors recall the elegant exotic animal. Filmed entirely in the town of Piedmont, Eporedia retraces with refined meaning the moments of the Carnival Historic, recalling through its music and its colors, the atmosphere of a manifesto symbol of a part of the Italian historical memory. • Macedonia/A Note/Dir:Gligor Kondovski/07:00/Macedonian YAN (40) goes to the house of his deceased FATHER (70) and is reminded of the left photo and the dried apple in the room where he was born and lived. His father died of KOVID-19. Yan could not attend the funeral because he is in isolation due to the situation with the KOVID pandemic. Unable to send his father in a dignified manner, he takes the photograph, as a kind of note from his time and throws it into the river for a final greeting. • Netherland/The Craftsman,The Art of Henk ten Bos/Pau Han Kho/08:25/Dutch Henk ten Bos (1921-1995) was an artist from Hengelo who painted at world level. Twelve years later the photographer returns to katu in search of these protagonists, now adults, to know about his personal trajectories and his world views. • Korea /Greening Korea: From Hadong /Dir:Finn Harvor/14:58/English, Korean A personal documentary about the agricultural life in Hadong-gun, the region of South Korea where my wife grew up. Filming was on the farm belonging to her family, and in the marketplace of the nearby town. Green tea production is particularly prevalent in Hadong. But its farmers are under extreme economic pressure. More than this, Koreans’ habits in terms of favored beverages are changing, and the popularity of coffee is having a severely detrimental effect on green tea sales. Kimchi, on the other hand, remains a staple of the Korean diet. And kimchi-making (kimchang) remains a traditional activity in most Korean households. Usually a group activity, after my wife’s mother’s death, my wife took this over duty solely. • Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions What Types of Companies Are on the "Don't Test" List? This list includes companies that make cosmetics, personal-care products, household-cleaning products, and other common household products. All companies that are included on PETA's "don't test" list have signed our statement of assurance verifying that they and their ingredient suppliers don't conduct, commission, pay for, or allow any tests on animals for ingredients, formulations, or finished products anywhere in the world and will not do so in the future. We encourage consumers to support the companies on this list, since we know that they're committed to making products without harming animals. Companies on the "Do Test" list should be shunned until they implement a policy that prohibits animal testing. The "do test" list doesn't include companies that manufacture only products that are required by law to be tested on animals (e.g., pharmaceuticals and garden chemicals). Although PETA is opposed to all animal testing, our focus in those instances is less on the individual companies and more on the regulatory agencies that require animal testing. How Does a Company Get on PETA's Global Animal Test–Free List? In order to be listed as animal test–free by PETA's Beauty Without Bunnies program, a company or brand must submit a legally binding statement of assurance signed by its CEO verifying that it and its ingredient suppliers don't conduct, commission, pay for, or allow any tests on animals for ingredients, formulations, or finished products anywhere in the world and won't do so in the future.

We have devoted much energy to helping vegetarians and vegans solve this problem in our various books. We've compiled glossaries of animal-derived additives and hidden ingredients. We've created lists of vegan products and alcoholic drinks. We've published reports on how to distinguish vegetarian and vegan products from non-vegetarian or non-vegan products. However, many vegans and vegetarians have found that hidden animal ingredients inevitably sneak in to the "animal-free" diet, despite their painstaking efforts. How can a vegetarian or vegan successfully eliminate animal products and animal cruelty from their shopping? It sometimes seems impossible, given the complexities of food and cosmetics manufacturing, the cryptic nature of ingredient labels, and the numerous ways that animal ingredients have infiltrated our world. There is a way! The simplest, surest way to pursue a 100% vegan or vegetarian lifestyle is to purchase products from companies and distributors that cater specifically to vegan and vegetarian interests.
