Martin President and CEO Dear Music for All Family: Welcome to the 38th annual Music for All Summer Symposium, presented by Yamaha. From its beginning in June 1976, the Summer Symposium has grown into one of the largest and most comprehensive scholastic, music instruction camps in the nation. We are pleased you have chosen to join us as guests of Music for All and Ball State University. Ball State, under the leadership of President Jo Ann Gora, prides itself on its entrepreneurial approach and commitment to immersive learning that redefines education. Music for All and Ball State are in a partnership with similar commitments to immersive learning, community engagement and innovation. We believe in music education, music in our schools and music for all. The Summer Symposium is part of our “hands-on” commitment to showcase, model and offer instructional guidance in support of our vision to be a catalyst to ensure that every child across America has access and opportunity to participate in active music making. Our commitment is to offer you “positively life-changing” opportunities and experiences to grow as students and teachers, with the hope that these experiences will help you and others in your programs. With more than 100 faculty and over 900 student and teacher participants, we are a large and vibrant community of learners committed to expanding our skills and knowledge as active music makers and leaders. Your participation makes you part of our larger community of more than 60,000 who have participated in the Summer Symposium and 1.6 million total alumni of Music for All programs. The Music for All staff, SWAGs and Ball State University community are collectively here to serve you. We are grateful to our educational team led by Gary Markham, Division Coordinators,and faculty for their commitment of time and excellence in order to prepare and present our educational programming. We believe that music and arts education is a core to students’ education and must be available to all students. Music for All is an advocate for music and arts education. Our educational programs support the efforts of instrumental music teachers on the high school and middle school levels, as well as provide positively life-changing experiences for students. Vision Music for All will be a catalyst to ensure that every child across America has access and opportunity to participate in active music making in his or her scholastic environment. Music for All uses our resources to provide national programs that recognize and support music students’ performance and success, offer music educator training and professional development, and deliver tools and resources to participants and their communities that will assist them in supporting music education by promoting awareness of music’s impact on student growth and achievement.
