Very much in the same tone that Jackers uses when he commentates on television. Full of antidotal pieces that add humor and color to the book. The book is easy to read, but typical Jackers does not shy away from controversial issues. He tackles issues such as match fixing and ball tampering head on and as usual he is not shy of a well thought out opinion or two. I would have expected a more unhappiness and even a hint of bitterness around some selection policies when he was overlooked for the national team, but once again he surprises you with his pragmatic outlook on life. A book that allows one to get a very good idea of what the life of a professional cricketer is/was like, the good as well as the less good moments. He enjoys cricket too much to have bad cricketing moments, just less good ones. I recommend this book to everyone that loves cricket and for the legion of people that listen to him commentating. Not having him on commentating team deprives all cricketing fans. Thank you for writing such a wonderful book for us to enjoy. The perfect Christmas gift.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. DisappointingBy AngusI have always enjoyed Robin's TV commentary immensely, and therefore bought this book in eager anticipation. I was disappointed. Sure, there are some amusing and interesting anecdotes about incidents that happened and conversations that took place, but mostly it is a rather tedious factual account of his life. I was hoping for more.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. this made me laugh out loud at times!By Niamh Wardi loved this book, I really enjoy Jacker's commentary, so what a pleasure to read the book. I happen to know some the characters he spoke about, and quite often, it made me laugh out loud...once on an airplane...which made people look at me very strangely...
