Born in Toledo, Ohio, Arlene Gray graduated from the U of A in 1968 and taught school in the Tucson school system for three years. Later, she attended Chicago Kent Illinois Institute of Technol- 2011-2012 ogy Law School. After graduation, she stayed in Chicago, married, and became a Cook County Assistant State Attorney, but left the Tucson Chapter Calendar practice of law after the birth of her second daughter. When you approach a merchant or vendor to sell an ad, here is a sample script of what you can use:

I am one of over 400 members of the Tucson Chapter of the Brandeis National Committee, a nonalumni support group for Brandeis University, a nonsectarian university located in Waltham, Massachusetts. Through our efforts, we raise money to support the university’s , an endowed scholarship for a Tucson-area student who has been accepted to Brandeis University and is eligible for financial aid, and for research in neurodegenerative diseases.

Our major annual fund-raising events are the Book & Author evening gala and the luncheon, where we are treated to noted authors discussing their latest works. This year, the Tucson Chapter of Brandeis National Committee is raising money toward “Sustaining the Mind — Scientific Research and Scholarships,” advancing research in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.

Our events on February 29 and March 1, 2012, will feature a printed program for which we are now selling ads. The tax-deductible fees (a donation for individuals, a business expense for businesses) are as follows: $750 for an inside or back cover; a full-page advertisement is $500; half a page is $250; a quarter-page is $125; an eighth-page or business-card-sized ad is $65; a single-line ad is $36; a “jewel” is $10 per name.
