Pre- knowledge: The students know the story of the Musical Rent.

Learning goals: The students get to know the lead song of the Musical Rent. They can interpret its meaning in relation to the plot of the piece.

Time: 25 minutes

Organisation: • The teacher tells the students, that they will listen to a song out of the Musical Rent. It is the song of the Musical that became most famous. The teacher lets the students listen to the song “Seasons of Love” for a first time. • The students have to concentrate on words they understand. The teacher collects the words after the first listening. • The students receive the cloze text of the lyrics of “Seasons of Love”. They read through it for a first time. • The students listen to the song for a second and if necessary a third time; to be able to fill in the gaps. • Correction of the exercise in class.
