A total of 28 people were present. All offic- 12:30pm to 4:00pm ers and directors who were present were seated at the double front Swap Meet and Clinics table. Layout Tours President Dave Nelson asked Secretary Tom Marcussen to read the minutes of the previous formal business meeting on January 2, 2015. Tom stated that they ran to 5 full typewritten pages, and Milwaukee Road Historical Association had been published in the February 2015 edition of Sparks & Cin- www.mrha.com ders. Tom Hoffmann moved that the minutes of the above previous business meeting, as published in the February 2015 C&NW Historical Society edition of Sparks & Cinders, be approved. May 12 - 17, 2016 Treasurer Tom Hoffmann presented his financial report for Minneapolis, Minnesota - Check webpage for information 2015. The details are the same as shown in the minutes of the January 2, 2016 Board of Directors meeting minutes, except for the inclusion of our certificate of deposit, valued at $27,558.29 on NRHS National Convention December 31, 2015, and our mutual fund, valued at $47,402.21, www.nrhs.com as of September 30, 2015. These are the latest statements that July 19-24, 2016 Tom had received. The train was to cross over from the eastward to the westward track in the town of Fall River. Train 8 entered the crossover at 70 mph and the locomotive units overturned. The authorized speed for the crossover was 10 mph. Two locomotive units and 10 passenger cars derailed, the fireman was killed, two crewmembers were injured seriously, and two received moderate injuries. Of the 215 passengers on board, 26 were injured. The National Transportation Safety Board determines that the probable cause of this accident was the Soo 'Line Railroad's procedures for crossing trains over on main line tracks which defeated the protection of the signal system. Contributing to the accident was the heavy workload of the dispatcher and operator.
