A user’s saved Collection Basket contents are also available when that user is Collection Basket logged in via a Web Client. This image shows how asset records are dragged into the Collection Basket (right) and how icons along the top of the Basket enable to the user to apply asset actions and other Cumulus 7.5 functions to the Basket’s contents. Another new property of category view sets is the option to display the number of asset records assigned to each category right next to the category name. This Categories: Display Assigned Asset Records Count makes it easy for users to see at a glance how many (if any) asset records have been assigned to a category. Cumulus 7.5 catalog administrators can now choose specific master categories (tabs) to be shown with each category view set. This makes it possible to hide Categories: Hiding Master Category Tabs certain tabs from certain users or groups. Example: If you want to hide your Sources master category tab from customers, you’d deselect that master category in the category view set(s) you make available to your customers. A new menu option under the View menu is used to show and hide the category pane. What was previously called “Collection Window Layout” is now referred to as “Workspace.” Targa (.tga), Photoshop (.psd, .psb), GIF (.gif) and PNG (.png) files saved with “transparency” enabled are now rendered as thumbnails Transparency support for Previews and Thumbnails and previews with the file’s transparency intact. Trans- parent areas appear as checkerboard patterns. The appearance of the checkerboard pattern is configured in each user’s preferences. The user interface for creating asset actions has been improved to permit multi- ple asset processors for output. Now you can, for example, convert a selection of Actions Configuration images into PowerPoint slides and have Cumulus 7.5 save the resulting file as a Zip archive. Users can now “drag” around the preview of a large image, making it easy to see Preview Viewing everything. The contents of a subpane can be “force refreshed” to compensate for manual Refresh Record Pane Button changes made to the selection in the pane above. If an asset is not available for preview, the cataloged thumbnail will be shown. If an image thumbnail is not available—audio files, etc.—the icon used by the Preview Updates cataloging operating system is used. (The same functionality is also now in the Web Clients.) A new toolbar button activates the Cumulus 7.5 slide show viewing feature in full-screen mode to present the selection of asset records. The mouse scroll wheel Slideshow Icon can be used to navigate through the selection, turning Cumulus 7.5 into a univer- sal file-format presentation application. Productivity Improvements Features Benefits Screenshots Using the context menus available in Windows Explorer and the Mac OS X Find- er, users can conveniently catalog assets or entire folders without having to first Catalog directly from the Explorer/Finder launch Cumulus 7.5. Usage examples include auto- matically determining an image’s orientation (portrait or land- scape), creating space-efficient output displays for views and Metadata Field Formulas reports, performing numeric cal- culations and if-then decisions, and much more. Here, the text “Length: 26 seconds” is filled by a formula that takes the Duration field, rounds the value and surrounds the result with “Length:” and “seconds.” Notice that field labels are not used in this record view set, which saves space. The individual pages of different PDF files cataloged using the PDF AssetStore PDF Page Merging can be packed into a single PDF—even over the Web using one of the Canto Web Clients. PowerPoint files can now be handled directly by PowerPoint for previews and thumbnail creation, yielding the highest quality results. In addition, images embedded in PowerPoint files can now be cataloged as separate assets that are Enhanced PowerPoint Handling automatically linked to their “container” PowerPoint files. This image shows new configuration options that direct Cumulus 7.5 to place images used in PowerPoint slides and presentations in separate folders accessi- ble to PowerPoint. Cumulus 7.5 can extract and catalog individual slides from Keynote presenta- tions, and individual images from Pages and Keynote files. Combined, these Apple iWorks Support features bring functionality to iWorks fans previously available only to users of MS Office. The $Today and $Now variables are now available from a drop-down menu under the Advanced view of the Find Tool, making it easy to create saved que- ries that use time references such as one hour ago, yesterday, last week and Time Reference Query Variable Access more. This image shows a query that finds all asset records created “yesterday” ($today - 1d). Cumulus Core Technology Enhancements Features Benefits Screenshots Catalog journaling virtually ensures that no damage comes to catalogs from power outages or other system failures. Journaling is a standard feature on all Catalog Journaling Cumulus 7.5 Servers, regardless of platform, and can be enabled (even on pre- 7.5 catalogs) using a single check box. Catalog administrators can now add the read-only fields, CatalogName, Record Hidden Fields Now Visible ID and Category ID to record view sets for viewing and searching. Cumulus 7.5 can now be activated by OLE, making it possible to use Visual Basic Visual Basic Support Enhancement to bring the application to the foreground. For example, Cumulus 7.5 can now automatically email a manager when a workflow status field is set to “Delayed.” Triggers based on field values In this image, a catalog trigger is added that will react the Status field of any asset record in the catalog is changed to “Delayed.” The next step in the config- uration would be to select a manger who would then be notified via email of the delay. Metadata stored in external files can now be imported automatically by the Cumulus 7.5 Scheduler. Now it’s easy to automatically refresh product prices, sizes, colors or any other Cumulus 7.5 metadata fields whose values come from external data- base or accounting systems. This action runs a query and searches the results for asset records whose assets cannot be found.
