1793 – Bishop’s Chapel - Church of England – Québec - Rev. Bishop Jacob Mountain, presiding – Located on St. Augustin Street and south of Richelieu Street. This chapel was the home church of Bishop Jacob Mountain - It appears that about 1823, the church no longer was the home of Bishop Mountain, for we find him residing at St. Matthew’s Anglican – In 1825 Bishop Jacob Mountain died, he was replaced by Bishop Charles Stewart - In 1844, this church on St-Augustin Street no longer existed - Marriage, baptism and death documents for this church are most likely found as part of Holy Trinity Church or Metropolitan Church. http://www.quebec.anglican.org/Front%20page/Diocesan%20Archives/archives.htm

1797 - Metropolitan Church - Québec - The Anglican See of Quebec was organized in 1793, in which year the newly arrived bishop, Rev. Jacob Mountain was welcomed by all. 1804 – Holy Trinity Anglican Cathedral – Québec - Rev. Bishop Jacob Mountain, Bishop George Jehoshaphat Mountain, Salter Mountain, presiding - On September 6th 1796, the Church of the Récollet Fathers burnt to the ground, the latter had been the home of the Anglicans for a few years - On the site of the Chapel of the Récollet Fathers on a street renamed rue des Jardins, the Cathedral opened its doors in 1804 – The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity was the first Anglican Cathedral built outside the British Isles. 1823 – St. Matthew's Anglican Church - The Free Chapel - Québec - The cemetery ground adjoining St. Matthew's Church, known originally as the Protestant Burying Ground, was purchased by the Government of the Province of Quebec in 1771 and another portion in 1780. In 1823, Lord Dalhousie, Governor-in-Chief of Lower Canada, made a grant of the land to the trustees of the Quebec Protestant Burying Ground in the fourth year of the reign of King George IV. The wooden residence of the caretaker was secured to the Church of England as well as the right to use it for public worship, and it was called The Free Chapel, long known as St. Matthew's Church, but the Church of had also the privilege to use the building for the performance of the burial service – First recorded church service by Rev. Bishop Jacob Mountain - It does appear that this small church located on St. John Street (rue Saint-Jean) would replace the Bishop’s Chapel of nearby Saint- Augustin Street near Richelieu Street as the home church of Bishop Mountain – In 1825, Bishop Jacob Mountain passed-away and was replaced by Bishop Charles Stewart (1825-1836) – The church was also used by the Methodists at a later time period – In 1845, the wooden church burnt down and was rebuilt in stone in 1848 – In 1848, St. Matthew's was ministered by Rev. Armine W. Mountain - Others who served at St. Matthew's were Rev. Frederick George Scott from 1899, in 1947, Archdeacon W.W Davis, Rev. Roy W. 1825 – Trinity Anglican Church – Québec - Trinity Church, situated on St-Stanislas Street, was opened for divine service on Sunday November 27th 1825, Rev. Bishop Jacob Mountain, Rev. Edmund Willoughby, presiding in 1825. Rev. E.W. Sewell, presiding in 1848, Rev. J.H. Barnes, presiding in 1925. Rev. Desmond Hunt, presiding in 1947 - Also known as Chapel of Holy Trinity or Chapel of Ease of Old Québec – The parish was organized to ease the overflow of parishioners at the Cathedral of Holy Trinity – Trinity Church was also a military chapel from 1868 to 1871 – The Imperial troops worshipped there, and following their departure, the church actually closed for a few years until 1877- In 1877 it reopened under the guidance of Rev. S.J. Sykes - Rev. Edmund Sewell served the congregation for years - Others who served were: Rev. Mr. Kerr, Rev. Mr. Noble, Rev. Mr. Bareham, Rev. Mr. Etherington, Rev. Mr. Watkins, Rev. Mr. Thompson, Rev. Mr. Beverley, Rev. J.H. 1831 – St. Paul’s Anglican Mariners – Québec - Rev. J.E.F. 1834 – St. Peter’s Anglican – Québec - Rev. George Jehoshaphat Mountain, presiding - Organized on July 10th 1834 as a chapel on rue de l’Église in the St-Roch district in the Lower Town district of Québec - The original chapel was located in a private dwelling in the district of St-Roch - St. Peter's in the early days was known as the French Protestant Church because it was designed to provide services for Guernsey and Jersey families residing in Québec, of which there were quite a large number at one time - Rev. M. Fothergill and Venerable Archdeacon Balfour were rectors of this church for some years – In 1842, a permanent stone church was erected at the corner of St-Valier Street and St-Georges Street, in the district of Limoilou, a middle-class district. Rev. R.G.
