ROBERT DE HOOG - BiograPHY Robert de Hoog (1988) is known as one of the most talented actors of his generation and has risen to fame while he was still in Theatre School. Next to an International Emmy Award Nomination for Best Actor in SKIN (2007), he is also one of the youngest winners of the Dutch equivalent of an Academy Award, the Golden Calf. In 2018, Robert could be seen in the successful series MOCRO MAFFIA, one of the most viewed series on Dutch VOD-platform Videoland to this date. Last year, Robert starred in the feature film AMSTERDAM VICE, for which he deserved a Golden Calf nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. In addition, he starred opposite Marwan Kenzari (ALADDIN) and Carice van Houten (GAME OF THRONES) in INSTINCT, directed by Halina Reijn, winner of the Variety Piazza Grande Award at Locarno Film Festival 2019. This spring, Robert will revive his role as Tatta in the second season of MOCRO MAFFIA and as Siem de Looder in the TV-series AMSTERDAM VICE, which is a continuation of the film. Later this year, he will star in the feature film THE EAST INDIES by Jim Taihuttu opposite Marwan Kenzari, and he will play a supporting role in the TV-series RED LIGHT with Carice van Houten and Halina Reijn in the lead. Jonas Smulders, Dutch Shooting Star December 19, 2017 Dutch actor Jonas Smulders has been selected as the Netherlands' Shooting Star for the 68th Berlin International Film Festival (February 15-25, 2018). Jonas is acknowledged as one of the ten most gifted European performers by a jury of acclaimed industry experts for the 21st edition of the Shooting Stars event. Jonas Smulders (1994) has received Best Actor Golden Calf in 2015 for his lead role in Mees Peijnenburg’s television drama WE WILL NEVER BE ROYALS. The same year he was awarded the Spotlight European Breakthrough Award at Kilkenny’s Subtitle fest. Subsequently, he appeared in the leading role of the film BROTHERS directed by Bram Schouw in 2017 and most recently, he starred in OPEN SEAS by Michiel van Erp and Shady El-Hamus’s short film, BEING THERE for which Jonas also wrote the script. Kirk Douglas (met wie Bacall kortstondig aan de American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York had gestudeerd) speelt Rick Martin, een verweesd jongetje dat toevlucht zoekt in muziek, en ontdekt dat hij zich alleen daarin kan uiten. Er zijn twee love in- terests: de door Doris Day helemaal Doris Day-achtig gespeelde zangeres Jo (die ons in háár eerste serieuze rol met haar koele interpre- tatie van ‘The Very Thought of You’ ook uit onze stoel blaast), en psychologiestudente Amy (Ba- call), complex en wispelturig.

Biography Robert de Hoog Robert de Hoog was born in Leiderdorp, The Netherlands on November 18th, 1988 and now lives in Amsterdam. In his home country The Netherlands, Robert is known as one of the most talented actors of his generation and has risen to fame while he was still in Theatre School. Next to his Emmy Award Nomination for Best Actor in SKIN, he is also one of the youngest winners of the Dutch equivalent of the Oscars, the Golden Calf. He is the first Dutch actor ever to work with Steven Spielberg, on WARHORSE, and completed the Emmy winning Dutch online project TRICKED with controversial BLACK BOOK director Paul Verhoeven. In 2013 Robert landed an English spoken lead role in LOVE ETERNAL, the critically acclaimed film by Brendan Muldowney (SAVAGE), which screened in competition at festivals all over the world, amongst others Busan International Film Festival. LOVE ETERNAL has been adapted from the Japanese novel Loving The Dead by prolific horror author Kei Oishi (THE GRUDGE). In 2008 Robert was accepted by the Amsterdam theatre academy. In that same year Robert played his first feature film role in SKIN, about a Jewish boy that turns skinhead, based on the first racial murder in The Netherlands. For his performance in Skin Robert won the Golden Calf for Best Actor at the Netherlands Film Festival. He was also nominated for an International Emmy Award as Best Actor. Robert and Skin-director Hanro Smitsman joined forces again for the Dutch thriller DUSK (original title: SCHEMER). The cast consists of promising young Dutch actors.
