2011 A-STATE FOOTBALL SPRING PROSPECTUS 7 ASTATEREDWOLVES.COM HEAD COACH HUGH FREEZE

After enjoying successful stints as both a head and assistant coach at the NCAA FBS, NAIA and high school levels over the last 18 years, Hugh Freeze was named Arkansas State’s 27th head football coach on Dec. 2, 2010. Freeze most recently completed his first season as Arkansas State’s offensive co- ordinator, guiding the Red Wolves’ offense to a record-breaking year in 2010. “I am thrilled to be the next head coach at Arkansas State and continue building on the foundation Coach Roberts has set,” said Freeze. “It is a dream come true and I am very indebted to President Welch, Chancellor Howard, Dr. Lee and Dr. Potts for their confidence in my ability to take this program to another level. My family and I look for- ward to being a very vital part of the Jonesboro community and the A-State family.” Freeze made an immediate impact on ASU’s program, leading the offense to a No. 43 national ranking in total offense one year after the Red Wolves finished toward the bottom of the NCAA FBS rankings at No. 95. While Stockemer continued to put up impressive numbers last season as a sophomore, Siskey also coached All-Sun Belt Conference selections Dwayne Frampton and Allen Muse. ASU’s top four leaders in receptions and receiving yards were all wide receivers and Siskey’s receiving corps also accounted for 18 of A-State 23 touchdown receptions. Siskey mentored Frampton, Muse, Stockemer, Anthony Robinson, R.J. Fleming and Carlos McCants, all of whom recorded career-best receiving numbers in 2010. Siskey came to ASU after serving the previous four years at St. Paul’s Episcopal School in Mobile, AL, where he helped lead the Saints to the 2007 Alabama Class 5A state championship as the team’s offensive coor- dinator and quarterbacks coach. In addition to the 2007 state championship, Siskey also helped guide St. Paul’s to the 2005 and 2006 state quarterfinals. A-State Football Inks First Signing Class Under Freeze

Twenty-four high school and junior college standouts from seven different states have signed with the Red Wolves to make up their first signing class under new head coach Hugh Freeze.

“We are very excited about our 2011 signing class, especially being shortened on our staff size,” said Freeze. “I thought it was a remarkable effort. I’m very pleased that we got everyone today that we anticipated along with a couple of additions. I thought our needs were met in our offensive line and at defensive back, and depth was added at wide receiver. I’m excited about the entire class, which includes six players from Arkansas that I think are tremendous athletes and will improve our football team immediately.”

The Red Wolves’ first recruiting class under Freeze is made up 14 high school players, including one invited walk- on, and 10 junior college transfers. Don Jones (DB), Anthony Kincy (TE), James Williams (OL) and Ronnell Wright (DL) are among the 10 JUCO players that will continue their careers with the Red Wolves after inking during the mid-term signing period.

Included in the 14 high school players that are set to join ASU are 10 all-state selections. The Red Wolves’ also signed six players that received a three-star or higher ranking at some point during their careers by a recruiting web site.

The Red Wolves signed six offensive linemen, the most among any position, and have currently signed 13 play- ers expected to play on the offensive side of the ball. Including four defensive backs, A-State signed seven de- fensive players and an additional four players listed as athletes that could potentially play defense as well.

Six players from Arkansas are included in the class, followed by five from Alabama and , four from Mis- sissippi, two from Tennessee and one from both Arizona and Georgia.
