The Waterboys new album is due for its North American release on April 7th. Modern Blues has been hailed as the best Waterboys record since 1988’s Fisherman’s Blues.” The Waterboys had the world at their feet in the 80's. Bob Dylan was singing band founder/frontman, Mike Scott's praises and Rolling Stone magazine called Scott "the new poet laureate of rock n'roll. The band was opening for such greats as U2 and Simple Minds and would perhaps have followed those bands into stadium-filling rock. Instead, Mike Scott decided to reconvene his band around a new, acoustic sound born of Irish jigs, folk, blues, gospel and country music and has never turned back."We'd tapped into- as Beck sings-an 'old world that looks brand new'," Scott enthuses. And was full of fresh inspiration that rock 'n' roll had bypassed. May 20th concert tickets still available.
